I think we are all in envy of this hub!   Do you mind posting pic of it with miners?   Would love to see this setup!

I was waiting to fill it before posting any shots.  Running 49 units at 16.3 Gh/s on a Sparkle ATX-400PN.   Port 43 is damaged.  Sad

I'd like to add that I didn't need a USB hub for a single stick in my Pi... seeing as there was only one of them.

the revision requires USB 3.0 port? is that the deal with K1 PCB re-design?

BkkCoins gives an answer here:

It's a little vague, but seems to indicate that USB 3.0 hubs are preferred to be on the safe side, power-wise.

Far from vague. Pretty much details what concerns you need to have when sourcing 2.0 vs 3.0 USB hubs given the limits imposed typically by 2.0 specs.

With vague, I meant if K1 would stay within USB 2.0 specs of 0.5A or if it would overdraw.

Yes that be a nice question to ask him.

I've started on a table over the hubs that were mentioned or look promising. See OP. If anyone had successful experience with any other hubs, please mention them here.

I'm having good results with the Cambrionix A6 49 port 2.0 Hub on Windows7.  Will update once I've tested it on BeagleBone Black.

It's waaaaaay too expensive to buy new, but I scored a used one for $200.

Currently running perfect with 33 Erupters, 16 more on the way.  Hoping my Sparkle Power Supply can drive all 49!
$200 for it is a steal!!!!  i'm getting quotes of over $1000.  ordered me one to help me with Eligius branding and testing of USB Miners sold on their pool's website. should arrive tomorrow

$200 was the right place right time.  Just learned that my unit has one bad port.  I think someone tried to use an actual key in the USB port.  I'm thinking I can fix it easily, but don't want to stop mining!

Followup: Cambrionix 49 port has no problem running 48 of these from a Sparkle 400w power supply.  I'm sure it will run 49, but ive got one mangled broken port.

Confirmed working on win7 and Ubuntu 12.0.4.  Probably compatible with beaglebone, but I had some cgminer issues in testing.

Confirm have had 6 Devices running on this constantly for 2 weeks now. No problems.

Edit: Product name & ID: Vantec 10 Port Hub Hi-Speed USB 2.0 - UGT-PH210

Added to the list. What are the specs for its AC adapter? Couldn't find them anywhere.

I haven't updated the K1 files yet. The new board revision will use the 2G02 but it's not pin compatible so you can't place that on the old board.

Here's a brief list of changes I'm doing for the K1:

- replace NOR gate with DUAL NOR gate
- add Schmitt inverter package
- chg PIC to QFN
- add thermistor for temperature sensing
- add 2 holes for mounting a heat sink
- Make both LEDs flashable (tied to PIC pins)
- make I2C non-thru hole SMD header type pads
- use 2mm board thickness for USB compatibility
- specify an alternate reg and inductor allowing 3A power (not for USB 2.0 ports)

I'm part way thru this now but have been sidetracked today by work on the web store (which is up now but not tested yet). Yay!

This is not good for my Chi... Yifu

Sipolar 20-Port2020 (?)?¥420.00 (~$70)3.50 (?)1

Short evaluation- DO NOT BUY THIS HUB.

[/quote]

Thanks for your report Garfield. This was one of the hubs in my shopping cart. I noticed that it has only one power port on the rear panel unlike its little brother. The Sipolar 16 port deviice has 2 power points on the rear but is supplied with a single 5W 3A PSU. My guess is 2 x 5W 4A will be needed to run all ports on this so the PSU supplied is pretty much useless.

cheers,
kev

The Orico A3H10 / A3H7 which seem to be identical to the Anker hubs can also be obtained at aliexpress, directly form Orico: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/105327

10-port = 60$ (incl. shipping)
7-port = 50$
