i am currently in china and GTA 5 is banned here. i have heard you can play it with a VPN but im not sure which VPN i should use. are the free VPNs useful?

China will try and block your usage of VPN's, as such most of the known VPN will not work - in any case you should always be very suspicious of free vpn services. If you desperately need on and you have the skills, you could setup Tunnelblick on an AWS server and that should work. But be aware that you might be on the wrong side of the law.

I use Private Internet Access. Good service and pretty good for torrenting as well.

Only problem is they dont allow SMTP traffic, so if you want to run your own mail server, it's a no go!

Me too, they don't keep logs (as proven by multiple failed subpoenas by the FBI), they have countless servers in many countries (useful for circumventing regional blocks), and best of all, you can pay with Bitcoin!

The vpn service has an attachment named smartprice. While circulating on booking.com, he constantly claims that an almost-unknown site, ohoteldeals.com, is much cheaper than the same room with crazy percentages. I did not know how reliable it was.

I often use VPN, free or paying
I never have any isue about my acc, and you only use it for gaming so doubt anyone from VPN agency want to steal your information

so I think it safe to use any VPN , but paying is better for speed and personal IP

Do all VPN's share information with intelligence agencies.

Or only free VPN's / proxies?

NordVPN is still in the top of all the discussions in VPN threads. It is not free but is worth the money spent for it. Some persons here claim that they keep logs but this is something we can never know for sure so we have to believe them. I have this VPN for the moment and I must say it works.

I do not recommend free VPN services. You can use the cloud services of trusted brands for your personal safety.
For example, you can buy a server from Amazon and set up your own open VPN.

First of all never use a free vpn because they sell your data to spy agencies. Now for GTA 5 in china you should use vypr vpn or express vpn. you can also find more vpns for gaming here: http://vpngrades.com/5-best-vpns-gaming/
I don't think government agencies will be much interested in his GTA5 skills Grin

Recently found something that I have been fearing when using most of the vpn's that have been offered from other members here. The places where you visit know that you are going thru a vpn and most likely will block you anyways. Like what google tech uses to know you are using a virtual phone number and not a real phone number even before you receive a call from them. Every tried to register for a hotmail account or gmail account with one of those? Then you know what I am talking about. Lips sealed

Seem to by pass all that crap for you by going thru multiple of servers (at the most three! Grin) for all your VPN browsing needs. Wink

I personally would suggest VyprVPN https://www.goldenfrog.com/vyprvpn/buy-vpn. This VPN also has a "function" called Chameleon, see https://www.goldenfrog.com/vyprvpn/chameleon, which should prevent VPN blocking.

Friendly Regards
