I wouldn't call gambling addiction a form of a disease. Instead, it is better defined as a mental disorder that can be fixed by getting help and controlling one's self. There are different reddit boards out there where people shares their success and failure to get rid of addiction. You can also ask questions (if you use reddit you will know that different people from time to time creates an AMA thread) from them and how they managed to get rid of their addiction. They will gladly help you.

They do exist and you might not have encountered one of them. But it's very real that addiction is truly happening for some of the online gamblers and this problem is one of the biggest adversary for them. Wrong by staying at home, you can even focus as you gamble because you can be alone in front of your computer and this makes it harder for some gamblers to overcome it because of that situation. Stopping is easy if you have been through a lot but for those who are struggling this newly, they will find it hard.
yes its possible . there are people that have thier pc , laptop , mobile inside thier own room . no distractions on there especially if they have thier own helpers at thier home but to some that dont have a house helper , we are forced to stop gambling to do other things like doing house chores , cooking , etc . and its true that you can become more addicted on live casino because no parents will ask you to stop there and do the house chores but all your doing is sitting in from of the table , or the machine .
I think that there were posts in the past that he can analyze that were posted here even before to verify that they do truly exist.

Addicted gamblers exist in online casinos
Addicted gambling will happen in both online casinos and offline casinos because that will comes to every people who can not control themselves in gambling games. They will play gambling longer than the other people, and they will spend much money because they are chasing the win money. Perhaps, if we are playing gambling at our home, we can reduce the addiction because, yes, we will see a lot of distractions around us that can prevent us from playing every day. By getting that distraction, at least we can stay away from the addicting of gambling.
That being said, the second best thing you could do is to help people in need. There are a lot of gambling addicts out there and one thing we could dp to help them is to raise awareness and probably get them back to their feet by removing or greatly reducing their desires to gamble.

I differ from your thought because their are people who are very much addicted to the online gambling and it could be anytime during the day they may gamble depending upon the time the are free. They may be gambling entire night when no one is around or day when people in office . But definite they do find out the time to gamble and do not leave this habit which is a sign that they are addicted .

I have not been addicted to gambling so far because I am not entertained by it. It loses my money, and that really sucks for me. But I have read so much information about being addicted to gambling, and now they are already cured. Some people visit psychiatrists just to stop them from being addicted. I really do not understand those persons who are addicted to gambling, and they say that they already want to stop it, but you will still see them in any gambling sites, it is easy for them to say that, but it is so hard for them to do. Well, we can not judge them because we are no on their shoes. I have not been addicted yet but I have seen people who were deeply addicted and cured themselves after fighting hard.Of course the number of persons I have seen being able to do this for me can be counted with the fingers of one hand only.They had one thing in common,big motivation to quit gambling and they were all recovered in professional centers against gambling addiction.I have not seen anyone yet being able to do this completely by himself but I hope these persons also exist.
Indeed, Stopping a gambler from being addicted to any gambling sites is so hard for them because they always looking for is, they considered it as their body needs, it is like, their day is not complete without it. Imo, since we are not clinical psychologists, it's not up to us to decide how it should be called. Below is the definition American Psychiatric Association came up with:

I personally think that if we want to move forward in our research, we shouldn't question, or reinvent, something that is already known

I couldn't think of anything but playing
So what about love, when you can't think of anything else but the object of your passion for weeks, if not months on end? Is it also a mental disorder according to DSM-5 or what?

Compulsive gambling is a mental disorder, and, unfortunately, it can't be cured completely(read: successfully) with currently known medical methods. People who stopped gambling after being addicted to it, are heroes, in my opinion. Despite the fact that staying away from gambling must be extremely hard for them, they still manage to handle it. Yes, doctors and medicine play their part too, but the most important contribution in the healing process comes from addicted person

To put things in proper perspective, think of people falling in love. A pretty common situation, huh? In other words, it is a natural thing even though this "addiction" can be quite extreme and can lead to outright violence toward oneself or other people if one's love is not requited. However, it is still the same feeling bringing about quite different and at times dramatically different results. But it can't be a mental disorder in one case and not a disorder in the other, right?

Im an addicted gambler before and it took me some time to recover because honestly its hard to stop especially I always think of my losses and want to keep trying to gamble to recover it.To overcome this addiction my family had to seek for professional help and take me far from the city for months to stop playing. I dont have access to the internet and there's no way to play physical gambling so it help me to forget.
Now I still gamble but with limitation, I know how hard it is to become addicted but you have to help yourself to overcome it.
I think to completely stop the addiction, you need something to replace those. IMO, taking you out of town is not quite effective because you only rested your mind on gambling but the dark web of your mind still wants to gamble. Learning from mistakes or replacing those and making gambling as entertainment will make you completely surpass the addiction caused by gambling. Hoping for you to get fully recovered on addiction, if you still play gambling even though there's a limitation, a time will come that you'll go back on your addiction status.
I think i have confessed on multiple occasions out here that I was a addicted gambler, but thanks to my family and friends I was able to solve my addiction. It’s pertinent to note that I went through many counselling sessions, and many sessions with fellow gamblers where they shared what they had lost due to their addiction and that’s when I realised I had to snap out of it. @finaleshot2016 I disagree with your view as I continue gambling, but now I only gamble responsibly and so I feel that one can definitely control his addiction and continue gambling if he wishes to.

we have seen many people that always say they wanna quit but they dont even spend more effort to make it happen.
Because they simply can't put their plans into action, therefore they need some help from other people for them to finally get out of addiction, the earlier they can seek help the better as serious addiction would lead to serious problem or make you live a miserable life. fight this desire on our own instead with our closest one.
just like what happens to me in the past?my family (specially my wife)
never let me down and continue to support and guide me into which
way i must Go and luckily?i did change for good.
