There's actually nothing wrong with playing at work. It all depends on what you play and what kind of work you actually have. Of course, if you are a neurosurgeon and are performing a complex operation on a patient, then you will not be able to play at this time. You will also not be able to play while driving a car. Although I have heard of people placing sports bets in a car while they were standing at an intersection at a traffic light.
But if you have long natural breaks at work that there is nothing to fill and your work does not require too much responsibility, then nothing prevents you from playing during the break. But I would not recommend playing for money.

I agree.

But it is only fine as long as it is comparable to what most people do, say, browse social media, etc.

If you actually start to get drawn too much into it, and start panicking with your losses, etc, then you will have a bad time.

My old boss at the cake factory would carry around a small portable TV with him, way back in the days before phones became so convenient it was very unusual.  He would watch the sports in the evenings on it and get overtime pay while relaxing on a pallet of flour bags perhaps, living that dream on a nice extra wage.   He may have gambled some of that extra money on the games he was watching I was never in the place to ask such a question of my boss but certainly we can say some people are in a nicer position when working to gamble if they like.
Delivery drivers and Taxi I often see waiting for their next appointment they could easily watch a game and/or gamble if they wanted while waiting.    I would still say its a distraction but justified in some way as some people do have jobs where waiting around for the next business is part of the work to it all.

Work time should always be work time, as you are getting paid to do work. Unless there are times that you are free and have nothing to do, you can do it without using the devices in the office. I used to do it in my office only when I was free because the seniors would see you if you are not doing your job, like not being able to complete the task given to you. Also right now because of the work-from-home setup a lot of gamblers are doing this unless they have a company that they are micromanaging, so they can't do it. The focus is very different when you gamble while at work, it is better when you are already out of shift.
Should really be the thing on your mind is on having those priorities over with your own interest because if you do have that kind of behavior on which trying out to prioritize things on which in line with your own interest and really just neglecting your work or having those kind of lack of efficiency then you are really that putting yourself at such great trouble. This is why it would really be that important that you should really know on what you are doing at least and on what are the decisions that you are making because if you do put up yourself on such scenario on where you do prioritize on playing
gambling while at work then high chances that you would be losing that work completely and if you do have some mouths to feed or simply having a family? then youre fucked up.

Sometimes I think that work is the last place to gamble, because humans are not robots and cant perform multitasking perfectly in everything. If a person has a lot of free time at work, then he is either slacking, or could have helped others. Gambling parallel working isnt good either. Hard to concentrate on two things simultaneously. Chances of loosing in gambling are higher, and it will be not wise to blame work for a loss later. Imo unethical to gamble, while other are busy, and gambling should be done during free time. Using same devices that are used for work is unacceptable and dangerous. A person would really look stupid if his working pc/laptop/tablet gets bug, virus or simply battery runs out because he visit various gambling sites.
What if a little friendly wagering on mundane professional duties could spice up board meetings? I admit multitasking is a fiction. Combining gambling with serious labour is like riding two horses with one behind - it doesnt work. Using gambling as a reward system? Finish a duty, then enjoy some guilt-free betting on your favourite site. Its like a carrot on a stick, pushing us to tackle our to-do lists.

If we dont abandon our jobs or use the office Wi-Fi for wagering, a little harmless gaming could make us happier and more comfortable at work. Imagine a world where a tiny win may make daily work more bearable.

Yeah, it is easier to keep yourself busy with other things that bring you positive things to your life.

If you don't have other things in your life it is easy to get addicted because there are no other fun things to do.

And addiction works because it is fun and enjoyable for the person. At least in the beginning.
Well, if they don't try, they won't know what the results will be by busying themselves with other things. And surely it will bring positive things to their lives. It is indeed difficult to break the gambling cycle, and it requires hard work to stop gambling activities, especially if they have been gambling for a long time. But if they succeed in breaking the gambling cycle, they can see that they have succeeded in reducing or even abandoning gambling, and that will allow them to work calmly and will not want to risk losing their job. It is better for them to be addicted to work than to be addicted to gambling because if they are addicted to work, they can try to find additional work that can make extra money.

Hopefully, we never get involved in unnecessary things like that so we can focus on our work. We must not allow ourselves to be defeated by desires that tell us to gamble wherever we are because we are in control of ourselves. By always remembering where we are and what we are doing, we hope that we can position ourselves well and that nothing will interfere with our work. We don't want to be fired by our office because we gamble, which we can do after work. We must try to be professionals at work even though we don't have a position because we are accepted to work to have income that can be used to meet our daily needs.

Addiction take place if there's nothing else inside your mind, and yes, at the beginning you are being entertained and you are enjoying the game or any type of gambling you are involve but when you start to realize that you are already losing a lot it will break the balance inside you, it will affects everything that includes your daily job, like what I mentioned, it's better not to allow yourself to do both gambling while you are working, your focus will be divided and most of the time, when you feel the adrenaline rush you may risk your job for the sake of gambling.

Like what I mentioned,  it's better to separate your gambling activities to your work schedule,  if you don't want to create any messed with your job, you should take all the responsibilities and complete what you are being paid for, the leisure should  be separated as it should be done outside your workplace,  being professional is also  being responsible,  else, you will both messing with your financial source and your potential gambling addiction.

I work largely for myself and I can even afford to play during working hours. But you need to understand that working time is valuable enough to waste on trifles. For me to want to gamble at work, I either have to be inspired or I have to have stress that I would want to deal with through gambling. This is possible, but I rarely do it. I practically don’t play for money at all; I prefer free games. They are no less interesting. And the money you bet in the game often only interferes with your enjoyment of the game. After all, you no longer think about the game, but about winning.

I think it's better to have a clear cut between gambling time and working time. Especially when you are your own boss or work from home without any supervision I don't trust myself with gambling during working hours. In the office the risk is just too high that a colleague would see it and alarms my boss, ending in me getting a serious talk and getting more supervised in the future. I would also not make a difference between gambling for money or with playmoney, it both requires time and will take concentration away from our job. In the end everybody has to decide for themselves if he wants to gamble at work or not, and it also depends on how demanding your job it. For me the risks of negative consequences are too high and I prefer to play it safe.
Imagine gambling at work as a creative break. Turning a vice into a mental instrument is the goal. Imagine a quick, powerful, and energizing mental espresso shot.

The catch: discipline. Like a tightrope, one mistake can lead to unproductivity. The "how" and "when" are key. Time constraints must be strictly enforced. Be the game's master, not its servant.

Finally, context matters. Without colleagues, the temptation is higher and the duty completely ours in a home office. Being your own watchful supervisor requires self-control. I encourage the occasional wager to spice up the working, but walk carefully, play strategically, and work hard.

Well, we arent paid at work to gamble Cheesy But if I am not mistaken, employees have right for a lunch break and have 5-10min pauses during work (impossible to stare into monitor for 8 straight hours). Would it be bad to use 5min of free time to gamble using own mobile? Seems not. I can go take a dump and play. Technically I am at work. Should that bother my boss ? Cheesy Only if I do it for 20-30minutes Cheesy However, gambling at work is more stressful. Not because gamblers are afraid to get spotted, but because other might distract them.

Seriously? Do you still get the entertainment playing free games? I mean, we are gamblers here, so the more we risk, as long as it's within our budget, the more we will have fun. I myself have a business as well, I work on it like I'm also a worker, but I can always find a time to gamble. Since I'm into sports betting, it doesn't require me a lot of time, so I could just using maybe a maximum of one hour to put all my bets, then I'll just wait for the outcome, watching the game is not necessary anymore as that will only destruct me on what I'm doing, final score is enough for me, or I will just check my balance, if it increases, that means I won my bets.

Yep, although some people think that they can earn money regularly through gambling, in fact gambling is about leisure, as you rightly said, and it's very stupid to think that you really can earn some good money from this activity. We earn money from our job and it's not worth it to risk losing your job because of doing something for our entertainment like gambling.

I think it is the dream of a gambler to be able to win big and quit their jobs.

That's why they keep gambling, to try and beat the odds and stop their work.

But in the end it's probably worse because they might end up losing their job.

That is so only for those who hate their jobs and do it only for money. Don't forget that there are millions of those who love their job and they wouldn't quit it even if they won enough money to do nothing through the rest of their lives. But such people wouldn't be gambling at work, in the first place. I mean, during the working hours. They could place a bet during a coffee break though.

In their free time, workers are sure to be confused about what they want to do because their work is finished, but for those who like to gamble, they may use their free time to gamble and in their minds that's okay as long as their superiors don't know about it, but sometimes what do you do doing it doesn't always remain safe. There are times when other people know what you do in your free time so that your boss knows that your time is not fully used for work and there is a big possibility that you will be fired from your job because you are not disciplined.

This is what gamblers who have jobs must learn because life is not always about gambling, apart from gambling we also need food and when we lose our jobs how can we find food? and how can you gamble?? Therefore, it is better to use your free time at work to keep doing your work and not let it happen because gambling can make you lose your job and gamble at home outside of work, this will not cause problems for yourself.
Our bosses not only hire you for your expertise, they also are entitled to part of your time as an employee, so even if you are an excellent employee and you have finished everything you had to do, this is not really an excuse to gamble on your job.

You could get away with chatting with your peers or checking your social media for updates, but gambling is something that is going to leave a negative impression no matter what, so people should just play it safe if they do not want to lose their job and gamble once they get home.
Of course we have to keep working and discipline our time to continue working without thinking about gambling in our free time, we are hired as employees to carry out work so we can't just do what we want like bosses who gamble in their free time. It's the same like taking your work for granted while you are still working, we have to keep ourselves busy working so that our boss will think that we are doing our job well and not making any mistakes that make our work difficult.

Yes, it's true that the most important thing is that we don't make a negative impression, whether chatting with friends or reading a book, it won't leave a negative impression, so please do whatever you want as long as you don't gamble at work, gambling after you get home will make you calmer and being able to enjoy your gambling rights can also be your comfort when you are tired from working all day.

Well, some people have this kind of mindset that if ever that we already build the trust and good impression in a company, our leaders will think that we are effective and efficient employee that no needs to supervise every time, in that way, we can do whatever we wants as long as you comply the needs and assigned task to you and they don't know that you're doing something illegal during working hours. We have different views when it comes to working, just focus on our own technique on how to do things that won't get caught and even more so, no one else should know this because they can report it to the higher management.
