I get that work can become so monotonous and boring at times but it doesn't warrant you to spend your hours that you're supposed to be spending working on something so trivial as gambling. First off, it's stupid. It's a terminable offence for one, are you saying you're going to put your job and financial security on the line for the sake of fulfilling your gambling desires. That's deranged and downright abominable if I do say so myself. I say don't make gambling such a big deal and only gamble when you really feel like it, not when you're bored or whatnot, and especially not when you're working.

Don't bring so much problem into your life than you can work with. If things go worse here you'd lose your job and at the same time you'd also become very addicted to gambling since you'd have no other thing to do but to gamble at this point in time. Make great use of your time and instead only gamble in certain occasions, not when you're on the job lmao.

I have been told by coworkers who have had more jobs than I have, they there is actually possible to find some jobs with bosses who would personally never care what one is doing during lunch time or even during working hours, as long as some schedule to finish the work/project is respected. I was told by one of them that their previous boss even allowed him to go home earlier if they wanted and take some days off, the only condition was to have all their work done by the day they all had previously set up.

While some bosses would certainly believe that gambling is a lack of respect to the office, the organization and even a lack of respect to coworkers, it is not impossible to find some position where one could engage in occasional gambling and get away with it.
Unless someone has that privilege, I would never advice someone to gamble at their workplace, because what you say is pretty true, one can lose the job in a blink if caught.
I think that I have heard that condition because it does makes sense to send them home when they're done with their task for the day.

It's just going to consume them time and electricity if they will not send them home when they're done with what they should do. These type of bosses know how to give them importance.

While those bosses that sees it as a disrespect when someone gambles on their offices, it is right. These workers should just go home if they go to work to gamble.

You still run the risk of losing your job because you are poor at time management and even include up your gambling habit.
Those that are doing it and don't have respect for their company, will definitely be caught someday. It may not now or next year but it's going to be their conscience that will catch them.

Therefore, it is preferable to avoid gambling and instead find a way to manage your stress at work without having an impact on it.
Or just simply gamble not in your work and do it at home and somewhere else where it is allowed or you're in a private area.

I'd like to share my experience with you all. Even though I'm not currently employed, I went through a phase of gambling while I was working in the past, and the outcome wasn't positive. It affected my job performance because, as you may know, when you lose, you tend to dwell on your losses and constantly think about strategies to win. When we talk about work, it usually means we're not particularly wealthy, and imagine what happens when we gamble money we can't afford to lose, especially when we're not earning much.

Let me tell you, the feeling is far from pleasant. It leads to a decline in your work performance, which can have significant consequences since that's your primary source of income. It might be manageable if you're winning, but the harsh reality is often quite the opposite. Even when we do win, we tend to spend most of our winnings, so we don't treat it as business money. This leaves us in a precarious situation when we lose because the money we initially budgeted for our families gets diverted to cover unexpected gambling-related expenses.

I'd like to hear from those of you who have experienced this or are still dealing with it. Please share your testimonies.

What do you mean about gambling at work? In the first place does it mean that your gambling at your work place?

I mean gambling addiction was difficult to handle for sure and you can add the financial things as well, if your gambling a lot for sure it already affecting your mind so winning and losing that could have a big impact in our performance at work, depending on how we are going to handle itit is going to be difficult if we are addicted to gambling already since its affecting our over all life not just our workplace that gonna need a lot more to work.

Its easy actually since your work, family, and your gamble should not be seperate and you just dont let other things get in the way of the other, if something is already off like you thing that your gambling is already affecting your work you just need to adjust it, change your gambling habbit and have a limit on how you gamble so that it is not going to affect your work, its hard to say since it still depend on your situation.

People do worst things than gambling in their work places some of them even watch points and nobody will know their are people that enjoy having fun at their work place since they are bored they do some of this things to lighten up their self at their work place, and I feel gambling is even more reasonable compare to other things. And sincere if I was the boss of my own I will try as much as possible to enjoy my self, won't allow boredom kill me in my work place.  Anything I do in my office nobody knows which is more better and peaceful. So bro losen up and have some fun.

Of course people do other things while at work, but gambling can be worse sometimes because the mind will probably be there as well even when they are working.

An addicted gambler will be stressed about all the money they have lost so far, and won't really be present while working.

Let make it a thing of more of being practical here, even if we are the boss of ourselves, it's still unethical to engage gambling when we are at the place of work, in some rare occasions we can manage to do that when at our leisure or break time but on a common sense that shouldn't come along with the time schedule for work and we are there busy gambling all because we are the boss of our own, this is why so many failed in their businesses because it lack serious concentrations.
Mere looking at it, I don't see anything wrong with gambling at work. We can always gamble anywhere we like but that does not mean that we need to gamble at work especially when we are very busy. We'll need to be very concentrative when we are at work so that we don't work with ignorance or do something that would make us get fired especially when we keep making consistent mistakes. Gambling can be easy to donate work when we don't have so much work to do. We can likewise can when we are less busy or when we are at break at work which is one of the best time for us to gamble and try our luck.

Yes, some may think that gambling is work is wrong while others may have a different point of view. I think as long as you can balance between the office work and gambling, and the office work is not compromised because of your gambling, then it may be on to gamble at work.
Yes, now everything is much simpler than before. Every person has a smartphone with Internet access. So what's the problem with spinning slots during your lunch break? Even and not only during vacation. )) But this kind of thing already looks like a gaming addiction. Everyone, of course, makes their own decision.

But why should your work colleagues know about this? There may be some very unpleasant rumors that will reach the authorities. Some companies have a very negative attitude towards such hobbies.

If this is a big deal with the company, this should not be done. Gambling during at work can be easily violated if the company doesn't have the internal control to prevent this from happening. I think they should implement such control effectively since some of their employees might be tempted in gambling. And they can't assume that there employees don't gamble since no one would say they gamble just to be hired for the job, but in reality, they are actually gambling.

Although we can say that the control is on us employees, but a company has interest to protect, if their people make mistakes in doing their job due to lack of concentration, that will affect the company as a whole, so prevention is always better as the potential problem is already seen.

I think all companies will never allow their employees to do other activities during working hours, let alone being involved in gambling or what I mean by the  activity they do is gambling during working hours, and it is clear that that will cause quite significant problems. Firstly, they lose concentration  on their main job because their minds are diverted to gambling, and secondly, it is very possible that they are not in the mood to continue working when the results of their gambling disappoint them and make them annoyed. Basically, it is difficult to regulate people to follow the rules if it is just a theory, and one thing that companies  can do to minimize this from happening is to implement full supervision while work activities are in progress, or for example installing CCTV in various corners, of course. It can make gamblers not dare to do other activities during working hours, especially gambling.

As I said above, it is difficult to control other people for companies, especially employees who work and you have also said that companies cannot easily assume that all their employees do not gamble, but the possibility is always there. So I think all of this comes back to the strictness with which existing regulations are applied in the company.
Your claim that firms must use CCTV to reduce gambling is extreme. Gambling at work is bad, but are we overestimating it? People usually distinguish work from personal indulgences. The belief that employees are always gambling hinders confidence in the workplace. In addition, human psychology. Micromanagement and surveillance may not discourage gamblers. They may indulge more discreetly. Shouldnt a workplace culture promote focus and job happiness rather than surveillance? You noted the challenge of governing individuals. However, we're talking about grownups, not kids. Respect and accountability resonate. Companies might reward outstanding work to keep staff interested and dedicated instead of assuming the worst.

Basically 1% to 5% of income should be budgeted for gambling. All earnings should not be gambled away. I have not been involved in gambling for a long time as long as I have been involved in gambling I have spent 5% of my income on gambling. I don't always spend my bets winning. When I slowly built up a large fund by winning bets, I withdrew all funds from my betting platform. Never be greedy on gambling platform whenever you rely on gambling openings you will become addicted to it.

Yes, gambling at work can indeed divert your attention and lower your level of productivity. It could also result in mistakes in our job and make it more difficult for us to meet deadlines. In my opinion, if you lose at gambling to the point where it affects your work, you are being unprofessional, which can harm your reputation. As as a consequence, you may not be able to grow in your career and may pass up opportunities. For example, if your boss notices that you have potential for promotion, you may be given the opportunity to do so, but you change abruptly because of your new vice and start gambling.
You still run the risk of losing your job because you are poor at time management and even include up your gambling habit. Therefore, it is preferable to avoid gambling and instead find a way to manage your stress at work without having an impact on it.
Of course, you will get fired from your job and lose the opportunity to make money. But that is the most serious case that has happened to several people who work while gambling because I saw when I visited a shop there was an employee who was alone and focused on playing Mobile Legend. I just smiled watching him play and returned to this thread, so I imagined what would happen if he gambled and was alone in a room. There will be someone who catches him gambling, and if that person is his boss, he will be finished and will lose his job.

We don't risk losing our jobs just because of gambling, and it's simply not worth doing. It would be better for me to lose the opportunity to gamble that day but be able to return to gambling another day than to completely lose the opportunity to continue working and earn income from my office. We must understand the situation and conditions before deciding to gamble.

although gambling at work is still unethical to do, but I'm still sure someone does. Everyone's work situation and time intensity for work are different. When work is very busy, of course, an employee can't gamble online. but if the situation may be very relaxed, with some company circumstances maybe certain parts will not always be busy. Employees can still gamble online during work time. The problem is when it becomes known to colleagues or bosses. if no one finds out, and it doesn't cause performance to suffer, it will be fine. although generally, I don't like this.

I don't know what the rules are in your country but in most countries with low economy, morals and human values are gradually being corrupted by material things like money, the law is also based on money to handle and no one really cares what you are doing in such a society, whether you gamble at work or in public, people who see it don't want to get involved, they also don't look directly at your morality, sometimes it's just normal in their eyes. Cultures are different in many places, don't be overwhelmed by gambling and still maintain a good attitude towards work, ethics are still maintained at an acceptable level

Yeah, I agree. Doing office work and gambling should be separated. It really just needs the right sequence of time management. Also, a self-discipline in order to follow those time management you’ve created and also to avoid future difficulty regarding to our real work and office life. We must remember that gambling combines luck, intelligence, and the strategy that you need to apply. Its assurance of making money out of gambling is just below 10%. While our real work in life is the one who assures to give us the amount of money, we need in our real life which we call salary. It might be dangerous to gamble at work since it can put our financial security in jeopardy.
Some companies have strict rules regarding their workers; if they observe you engaging in extraneous activities that could interfere with your job, they may take disciplinary or ethical action against you. I prefer that way though.
We have to be able to manage our time so that we don't disturb each other. When we are in the office, we have to focus on our work, and even though we are taking a break, we have to use it to rest and not gamble, even though some people can gamble and are not affected by the results they get in gambling. However, an emotional factor will affect their work performance, and when they experience loss, it may affect them that day. After all, we have more time to gamble if we are at home, so we can use it to relieve stress and fatigue or just want to relax by gambling. The important thing is that we understand when to gamble and don't need to force ourselves to keep gambling when working. When we work in an office, we can make money from our salary, while if we gamble, we may not be able to make money. From there, we should be able to think about what is more appropriate to do, and that's where we have to be wise in using gambling.

It might be worse, or not, depending of course on the situation.

Probably the people that gamble at work will say alcohol is worse and the people that drink at work will say that gambling is worse  Grin

At the end of the day, if the activity generates something negative to you, then it's basically an addiction.

Of course, it depends on the situation and the situation also depends on the person's point of view, or that means everyone has a different point of view and decision in every situation, even though according to them it is good to choose but maybe for other people it is not recommended and should be avoided.

Actually from the two things you mentioned that might be an option / chosen by others basically in common sense both are really bad actions, especially if you do it when you are focused on doing other things, especially in the workplace that provides you with income to survive, no matter whether it's alcohol or gambling or even illegal drugs which basically have a negative impact all of that should really be avoided, there is no reason that makes sense with whatever they say for a defense.
It's true that it depends on the person's own point of view. If they are determined to do other things while at work, such as drinking alcohol or gambling, this will have an impact on their performance and for those who continue to do it, it will cause someone to not focus on their work, hence their attitude. such as gambling or drinking alcohol should be avoided while working because these activities can still be done when you are at home and not working.

Still, this is not the right choice for those who choose to gamble or drink alcohol and it is true as you said that both will have a bad impact when they do it while working. Because it is very likely that if they do not focus on their work they will just get fired and this will have a serious impact if the job is your only source of income so it's better to avoid things that will harm yourself.
Mixing work with habits like gambling and drinking is a disaster waiting to happen. It's not just poor; it's disastrous, I can assure you. These distractions at work? They undermine not just your concentration but also your reliability and trustworthiness. Every decision you make on the job is like laying a foundation stone for your professional future. Drinking and gambling at work? Using your hands, you're removing the basic blocks. It's playing with fire for people who depend on their employment for their only source of money, and it's a quick route to professional disaster

Responsible gambling isn't the problem here. It concerns the where and when. As a recreational pastime, responsible gambling can fit into a balanced lifestyle. It's important to recognise your boundaries, weigh the dangers, and keep it apart from your work life. The true art is in keeping work and play apart from one another. It's about having the intelligence and discernment to understand that work time is sacred and personal time is your own. combining the two? That's the first sign of problems. You can enjoy both if you keep them apart and don't run the risk of losing everything you've worked for
