I don't know if this has only happened in my country

but here in my country there are many cases of people who went to the hospital and spent hours waiting to be seen by the doctor, and the doctor was taking a long time because he was chatting on social media, there are cases where the employee was playing games instead of taking care of the patients. in other companies in cases similar to these. People no longer have limits on where they can use their phones and where they can't use their phones. It's not a good thing for a person at work to be playing games on the phone instead of working, it's not a good thing for a person to ignore dozens of people who are in the hospital waiting for treatment and the employee is playing games or chatting on social media.

I have seen in banks in my country, when I arrive there are many people to be served and hours pass and no one is being attended to, but when I look at the bank employee, she is not assisting anyone, but is on the phone talking and then He leaves the bank and takes a long time to get back, and as a consequence we have to spend many hours at the bank. It's a situation that I've reported to my country's central bank several times, but they never resolve it, phones have become much more important than working well. but the thing here is, what if you are set up to work from home? You need a lot of self control because you can gamble anytime with just your phone, right? It's why that if you want to playing gambling, you better doing that in your home and not in your work because you risks your work and that can makes you gets fired when your superiors knows.

Of course gambling at work is a careless or even stupid decision, they do not know or are unable to distinguish about which one is more important and which should be prioritized, as you say here that work is an important activity for a person because it is by working that we are able to make money to survive, and this is why it is a very silly decision for anyone to gamble at work. This is because the risks are greater, and this can lead to many other problems and not just a matter of losing, because obviously there is no way you can focus on work if you are doing two activities at the same time.

The first thing that will definitely happen is that you will lose focus at work which makes the results of the performance or the results of the work you do poor, and this could be something that will be questioned by the boss, and the second is the concern when your boss accidentally finds out about the gambling you are doing in the middle of working hours which could ultimately cost you your job because most likely your boss will make the decision to fire you unilaterally due to seeing his employees who do not comply with the rules and instead carry out gambling activities in the middle of working hours which basically gambling has a very negative point of view in the eyes of the general public.

On the other hand, I think there is still quite a lot of time that you can allocate for gambling, you can gamble when you have finished working or that means when you have returned home and you can gamble casually without any worries about being found out by your boss, or you can also gamble when you are on holidays such as weekends, so my advice is to try to be wiser in dividing your time.

For sure, no matter what your experience was before, you have learned a lesson from that matter, right? And that's the important thing, from what I see. There is nothing stopping us from gambling, and we as gamblers are always in control of what we do about that too.

So if a gambler is currently employed and he knows in himself that he can't stop himself from gambling once a week, I think he can still control himself to gamble correctly. But if he plays gambling online every day, I don't think it's really a good habit because it will affect his work for sure, like Op said.

I think a person should fulfil his responsibility instead of getting rid of your job because if you are getting paid for some work then it is your responsibility to complete your work with great care. A responsible man never gamble at a time of job and once you start gambling as an entertainment then you will steadily move towards it and will not make good use of your work.

If you want to joy through gambling then take out some time for it but don't play casinos during your job because it will reduce your concentration from your work and according to my experience many people leave their jobs just for gambling but at the end they does not find anything instead of lossing their Job as well as money.

Workplace is an important place for everyone be it a job or own business if someone gambles there then his work will be disrupted.  Because when someone loses gambling at that moment, a depression of losing money will appear in him and he will be upset and lose focus on work. Gambling at work is not a new thing to many of us here because is what we do just to try our luck to see if we could earn some cash to take care of our important bills. I do this often then but not anymore because my schedule is somehow tide and I think I have outgrown gambling without any proper planing. There are people that might find joy in this and they could keep gambling for as long as they want whether at work or when they are less busy. It we just have to know which one works for us so that we don't do things that would later bring loses to us.

Gambling is very addictive so when a person is addicted to gambling and the addiction is strong then gambling becomes more important than other activities and that is why they may decide to stop working during work hours to gamble. Gambling in the workplace can be a really bad habit and it will not do anyone any good. It is dependent on the line of work. The industry. What if you are working for a gambling site? Having your phone opened while on work hours will give them good traffic so I think they will allow it too.
Back in my job before, I was also not allowed to take the phone inside our working station because of the sensitive information that our network has. The management cannot just let anyone copy them or they might do something inappropriate with it.
Our phones are left in the locker so that we won't have any means to copy anything in the system and if ever it rings in our lockers, the security will tell us. Of course, it's because it might be an emergency.
Gambling while on the job is a different story though. Even if we ain't doing anything, we should be more productive and not spend more money.

Also, if you feel bored in your job and decide to gamble then you may feel good and relaxed but soon this will become a habit. I mean that you will start to feel bored often in your job and you will be waiting to gamble more and more while at the office. This will indirectly affect your work and if you underperform or do not take an interest in your job everyone will start to notice it and this may turn out to be bad for you.

I feel that everything has a place and it should be done where it suits best. When you are at job, the main thing is to perform the job duties and this should be the only thing we be doing during the work time. Playing gambling once or twice while at the office is ok but making it a habit is never going to benefit you not in the job and also not in the gambling too.

I believe this is completely dependent on the kind of job you do, there are some jobs that gives you the privilege to just sit around all day and just play on your phone and what you do on your phone isn't really their business as long as you're present in your duty post.
And there are jobs that doesn't even give you the liberty of coming to work with your phone, let alone play on it. So this is completely dependent on your kinda work and the rules of that job. If the rules says no phones and you're found gambling at work, you're obviously breaking the rules and you'll not be punished not just for gambling but for bringing a phone to your post when you weren't expected to

We must understand when we should gamble and when we should refrain from gambling. When a person gambles while neglecting his main job, even if he wins at gambling, he will suffer at work. I have done this also in the past , but yeah never  that I am caught but now I stopped this because of the risk of being kicked in my work.

Gamblers will definitely suffer if they don't have a solid gambling budget because gambling depends on luck.  You must accept this while gambling and you won't have any problem if you lose as much money as your standard of living should bet so much money then gambling will only give you fun it won't cause you any problems. That's the problem, if you can't control yourself you'll compromise your job if the focus turned to gambling when you play while working there's a chance that you'll messed up, though I get your point and that's going to depend from how a person takes care of his emotion, if he can just kill some time and can bounce back without any problem then that might work, but, again, still depends from what the company rules and how they take this kind of action from one employee, most of the time company doesn't like any extra activities as they are paying right amount so they also wanted to get that time from each individuals who are working for them.


Yeah right, the chance of keeping your focus into gambling either you are winning or losing will lead you not to pay attention to your work, it might ruin your bread and butter in terms of financial needs. Better not to deal with it if you can hold and wait till your shift ends up and you have all the free time to gamble.

It's tempting many people when they feel overheated in their works and thinks that playing gambling will relax them and can back to work with fresh. But that's not a good decision as their minds may not stop playing gambling easily because when they win or lose, they will still playing gambling and there is a tend that they will continue playing gambling no matter what's the result. If a person can know how long they can playing gambling, he can stop immediately from playing gambling. But we knows that gambling can tempt him to continue playing gambling and this time, he will try to chase the win and recover his loses. In my opinion, when we work we should just focus on our work, don't let us steal time, especially if we only use it for gambling. If you want to do it, it's better to do it during your break. The work we do is our source of income which can fulfill our daily living needs, while gambling is just something for entertainment and even if we don't gamble regularly it will use up the money we earn from work.
We all often say that we only gamble in our free time and we do it while relaxing without doing any work. I think this is a form of our professionalism and a form of our responsibility at work, whether we will follow what our brain wants or we will fight it and choose to postpone the game and focus more on work first. Moreover, if the company applies strict rules, of course if we force ourselves too hard to gamble, it will be very risky if we are caught by the company, and the consequences can be very fatal. We must know the time when we can gamble and when we should prioritize other things.
