L. Messi have great individual performance this season. Probably his influence to Barca was biggest in recent seasons. But failure in Champions league and Copa makes his chances to win this trophy worse.
V. Van Dijk - well, why not. It's been a long time since defender won this trophy. But as other above says - he only can win if LFC will win Champions league.
Other players have only minimal chances to win. There we have two more Liverpool players - Salah and Mane.
And this year I don't see Ronaldo even in top 3.

Yes, somehow I also don't like Messi and Ronaldo because yes everyone knows that both of them play not too well in this season regardless of the factors that influence it because I don't follow too many of them but I prefer other players who shine there because I am sure the award will be counted well by them, indeed it is currently very difficult to determine one of the great players of the world because nothing is very prominent and great, that is just an opinion.

Fyi: Yesterday Barcelona were beaten by Valencia in the Spanish Copa Del Rey Final match. which means, making the chances of Messi getting the Ballon D'Or to be reduced. We will wait for who will be a strong candidate for that title.

Recalled Canavarro of Italy also won a ballon D'or despite being a defender both messi and ronaldo had not been impressive this season thus both do not merit it. Sarah was impressive last season but this season he was a shadow of former self.
Mbappe though is a good goal scorer for PSG but having crashed out of UCL in quarter final by an injury ravaged MAN UTD team was out of contention.

I think voter fatigue is starting to become an issue, they don't want Ronaldo and Messi to win it every year because it gets boring. That is what happened to Michael Jordan, voters gave it to him too many times and ended up awarding MVP to Karl Malone one year.

A strong candidate for the Ballon D'or that is widely reported is Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gerard Pique. The candidate is certainly just a prediction of many people. If we look at the extraordinary this season, of course Mbappe & Lionel Messi. It seems like the Champions League is not very influential on the Ballon D'or. So that's what I think is a strong candidate for this trophy.

As a football fan I always follow football news about anything related. Ballon D'Or is an individual trophy that is highly awaited by every soccer fan or player who becomes a candidate. The assessment of the worth of winning the title was not only he played well in the game but many aspects to determine it. Maybe Lionel Messi could be the winner as many people have bets for him.

I like Mbappe a lot too but after winning the Ligue 1 title, PSG have been terrible, losing so many games. Yes, they did not need to win but champions do not play like that. And it sort of proved that Mbappe was not as good as he is without the others playing all around him.
He did well in the world cup but that was long ago now. I do not think he deserves it. Very difficult to say even Salah I like,,, but he also did not really do well in anything unless he wins next week.

I’ll agree Ronaldo doesn’t deserve to win this year, he’s been an ordinary player since he’s joined Juventus, you’re being harsh on Messi he’s scored 50 goals this year he deserves to win this trophy. Modric and Hazard both have underperformed this season hence they won’t be winning it, Van Dijk is a wild card entry but I doubt he’ll win it. Mbappe and Salah both had outstanding seasons, but Salah is my second pick as he has led Liverpool into the finals of champions league for the second time in a year.
