No one controls bitcoin, but in technical sense, bitcoin has 1 or 2 secret keys (private keys) that when possessed can disturb the bitcoin network seriously. These keys are controlled by the core dev of the bitcoin.

I think china who controls bitcoin because of number of population. It's a large community who use bitcoin. maybe usa have a big hand of controlling bitcoin market.

Nobody really knows who is controlling the whole bitcoin network. But telling China is the one who controls it is possible but to tell you something with what I believe. China is not the who is controlling bitcoin but just because most of the miners and whales are there they are literally making some help on the bitcoin moves each and everyday.
I think there is a group that actually giving a sign if when the are buying and when they're going to sell. i think this groups is the reason who are pushing the bitcoin now into high and then they signaling if the price will going down.
this is i think the problem those people are whales .. i am one of the group but they are just giving a signal or sign.. i really do not know if where their signal.

I've got this one everybody. Everyone controls Bitcoin. You control it. I control it. My ten year old son and 11 year old niece control it.

Hehe, I think this is the most correct answers. Who controls the bitcoin? Of course we are, the owner of the bitcoin. Because so far, if we have a bitcoin then there is nothing anyone can manage it without any consent from us. Thank you

I think that bitcoin is being controlled by a small team and from some individuals who are early adopters of bitcoin.

Another one who can control the bitcoin are these big exchanges who have a very large volume of bitcoin.

We have seen how much was the bitcoin price affected last time when bitfinex was hacked.

Yes everyone who have bitcoins on their wallet has the control of it even if it's a child or not. That's the one of the best in bitcoin no one can control your bitcoins except you.

No one can control bitcoins but somebody can control the market. Those who control the market of bitcoin can actually though not directly control bitcoin. Its not just a simple control, price manipulation can really affects bitcoin as a whole. Lets say the giants in bitcoin industry all of them will dump their bitcoins  imagine what will happen aside from price meltdown, probably holders or users will lost trust in bitcoin that will lead eventually to bitcoin becoming worthless.

Who in the world controls the bitcoin? I don't understand where it appeared and how it began to be one of the official currencies?
Who controls the course of Bitcoin?

From what I've gathered, nobody controls bitcoin. It was designed so that everyone on bitcoin collaborates in maintaining, validating, and sustaining, the transaction chain. Balances are stored in a distributed network and cannot be altered, and all transactions can be transparently consulted via a public ledger/bitcoin explorer. Although, from an altcoin white paper I've read, there might be a tendency for bitcoin to become centralized because of its PoW system. There was an argument there that said the wealthy and able can kill competition and acquire the most bitcoins by way of large mining farms. So bitcoin cannot be controlled but it may be centralized.

Bitcoin should be out of any control because it's decentralized currency but in practice there are many factors that influence on it. Users itself, especialy big players, whales, and everybody are mentioning China as the bigest and strongest bitcoin player. So, bitcoin market is not independent as it should be.

I've got this one everybody. Everyone controls Bitcoin. You control it. I control it. My ten year old son and 11 year old niece control it.

We control it on varying degrees/levels and that depends on how influential you are in here and how much bitcoins do you hold. In the bigger picture, you don't have that much power in bitcoin. Even if you sell your part (unless you secretly hold thousands of coins), it wouldn't cause that much market movement. The market will eventually pick up and carry on with their pump or dump movement.

My point exactly: yep, you have control but it's only limited to how much can you influence the market. Most of us don't have significant amount of bitcoins. When we sell our coins, the market would just be like "Hmm. 'mkay, you sold your coins. Bye bye now." But when whales or when China dumped a part of their total bitcoins, the whole market would be affected notably.
That is true even the foundation has no control to the whole network except updating and managing the software , but if he means bitcoin prices that for sure different criteria .

Everbody say "Bitcoin is decentralized money. It is advantages etc. But in fact, I think it isn't advantages It might turn easily to disadvantages because The world is circulate Smiley Everybody cant use Exchanges same time. It is historical experience of Money. This is another reason why people didnt using same money. It might be manupilate easily. I know it is traditional idea but on the one hand It is true
This is true. But why are still talking about bitcoin bank, which in the future can take on all management issues bitcoin. This violates the basic rule of confidentiality.
Well we aren't really talking about Bitcoin bank. Most people say that Bitcoin is decentralized but China controls most of the Bitcoin mining industry and there is a hell of a lot of Bitcoin circulating in China.

Its almost like its being controlled by China. They recently proved it and thus the reason of collapse from 1000+ down to 800USD. Of course we all know BTC is decentralized just like the rest of the altcoins but yes. I think whales can manipulate bitcoin, they can organize press release and manipulate its value by simply pumping and dumping.  The very reason as well that pump and dump groups were also organized because they know they can manipulate alcoin's price.

Well no one is controlling it as one person, we ourselves are controlling it partly if you are gonna think about it.
On my understanding i agree with you,no one is controlling it.It moves freely by means on how its value runs to the market.Seems like everyone is anonymous using bitcoins,by means of investing ,trading and mining.
I agree with your statement, no one control bitcoin. But some people who have really big amount of bitcoin has influence bitcoin price. Bitcoin, fiat or any currency price can be controled by the hoarder.
China has holding large number of bitcoin because they have a large mining farm.. they can manipulate the price but they can not control the whole blockchain and bitcoin.. and i think we are all who control bitcoin.. unless if satoshi nakamoto are planning to terminate bitcoin anytime who are holding bitcoin can be lose in the future..
With regard to price manipulation, I also think they have a high degree of influence and, according to some experts, China is responsible for part of the price drop that has been occurring in recent weeks. But it does not make much sense to say that they have control over Bitcoin, which remains the most decentralized currency in existence.

The rest of the world also has strong influence over the currency, events that occurred in India last year, for example, also had an impact on price. Therefore, one can conclude that Bitcoin is a currency connected with the global economy, so it would be very difficult for anyone to control the price.

No one actually controls bitcoin, however Satoshi Nakamoto created the system and protocol way back 2009. The miners only generate the said coins by solving a block and that's it. No one really is in charge of it and no one regulates it however the core devs are the ones in charge of making the system better and ensure that the protocol will continue with integrity (?).

Yes, but I always wondered how the core developers can "make the system better" without changing it and if they can change it, is that not a kind of control, already? Could someone solve this paradox for me?
