I've been watching the mtgoxlive connection counter slowly and steadily dropping from 700+ down to 117 right now.  Liquidity is as good as it's ever been, and more speculators aren't needed, so I think this is a good thing.

When I go back at old screenshots I'd saved, I'm struck at how thin the depth charts used to be. Here's mtgox screenshot from August 11, 2011:

Sometimes, one side of the chart would have less than 10k btc.

i'm not sure why you'd be bored.  what i see is a slowly rising price into the teeth of a skyrocketing USD while everything else is getting sold off.  what's not to like about that?

Plus the fact that there's still BTC < $5 on btc-e.com ...

maybe not much of an opportunity unless you have a ton of $$$$

The indication that Bitcoin is but a speck of dust which is not even influenced by the real economy, much less has any influence on it.

The good news about that is there is still a monstrous upside potential and a limited downside one at least.

I haven't made a trade in a single year.
I think you might have a word in that misplaced sentence. ;-)

And I see Gox's command of the market has eroded slightly...

how so?

At one time they had a market share of over 80%.

It is currently 67%.

bout damn time.

Only until someone decides to go for a big buy or big dump... I can't see large volumes going through any exchange other than Gox for the time being, unfortunately.
