I have seen his account is not active from a few years in this forum, is he in depression or something cause I would be if I were to be him.

Last time I checked he had children and was enjoying his life, not depressed at all. Some people get over such things.
Life has much more to offer than early retirement.

So this Lazlo guy I think he should be still crying for buying a pizza with a mere 25 USD back then, but which now translates to 4.5 mln USD which is pretty much a nice amount to retire much earlier than expected. Bitcoin Pizza Day returns with Papa John’s, Ronald McDonald House

It’s been six years since the first exchange of bitcoin for Papa John’s pizza took place over the Internet. To celebrate the Bitcoin Pizza Day this year, the NY Bitcoin Group has teamed up with the nationwide pizza chain and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region (RMHC). Starting May 16th, Papa John’s pizza slices can be bought for children and families at the RMHC using bitcoin.

Nice.

If this is legitimate, I'll probably purchase some slices later this week.

I'm able to pay for pizza from a local pizzeria with bitcoins via their online ordering system (provided by Menufy).

As such, I typically order a pizza for dinner, and pay for it with bitcoins, on Bitcoin Pizza Day.

I think someone should do a follow up interview with Laszlo Hanyecz on that day, and see what happened with him since then. I wonder how many coins he still has and if he lost faith in the tech?

He might even be filthy rich from the remaining coins he owned from back in the days. This is just one of the things we will never know about this experiment... the coins we spend today, might be

double or triple the value within a month or a year... and you could have bought 3 or 4 of the same items for the exact amount of coins you spend a month or a year ago. I will buy a pizza on that

day...  Grin

The mind is everything. What you think you become.
Who is doing something on Bitcoin Pizza Day? May 22nd, 2016?

Bought on 22nd May 2010 by Laszlo Hanyecz, the programmer paid a fellow Bitcoin Talk forum user 10,000 BTC for two Papa John’s pizzas. Back then – when the technology was just over a year old – that equated to roughly $25, but is [alot more] by today’s exchange rate.
Yes i saw his thread some couple years ago,i dont know is that thread still exist,i wondering how pizza owner use that 10.000BTC at that time, because if the owner of Papa John pizza save that bitcoin until now,i think he was have big profit.

I might order a pizza through an online Dutch service called thuizbezorgd.nl

Basically they have deals with a lot of companies that deliver food and you can order through them, they pay the company and you get your order 30-60 min later.

Best thing is, they started accepting bitcoin 2 years ago!

It would be funny if said member forgot about the transaction. Such a huge amount of btcs for a pizza. If extrapolated to today.. Laszlo could have bought at least 3 homegrown pizza franchises with that much bitcoin already. Whew..I guess I would be buying pizza for fiat on that day though.. i doubt more than 1% of my countries population even heard of bitcoin..

I will probably buy a gift card with Bitcoin as there is no place around me that directly accepts Bitcoin and will get myself a tasty pizza on that special day if I don't forget lol. This will be the first time I will commemorate this event. I better mark the date on my calendar  Wink

I don't feel much difference between the pizza days in 2014 and this year... Maybe the price has not grown too much... But I think we should still celebrate it- as long as bitcoin is still surviving it means it is growing!

this makes me think about the btc i spend in the present days. whenever i pay like 0.05btc to someone , i imagine in like 10 years that 0.05 btc would be worth alot more than $25 just like 10000btc is now worth alot more than 25 bucks.

This still makes me cringe, as it wasn't that long ago.  That's what I'll be doing, cringing.  And I might order a pizza too but I'll be paying for it in fiat because there's still no one around who accepts bitcoin for pizza six years later.
Now there's a web that accepts bitcoin to order your pizza (http://pizzaforcoins.com/) That's pretty legit web to buy your pizza .

But yes. 10000 BTC is litteraly almost $7 million . Wonder what that guy thinking now about his transaction lol.
