Bitcoin winning the race now.Its number one for currency now.So it will be known to all people.Easy to transact,easy to become money.Although I need a paypal to get the money but still bitcoin is stronger than anything.
Paypal has buyer protection, Bitcoin not. But Bitcoin will win, as it is decentralized and everyone is his own bank. 
Yes, paypal is has a big advantage on security and protection. But for transaction and fee, i rather choose bitcoin than paypal. Bitcoin have a small fee than paypal if you use it for big amount of money transaction and the anonymous if the most reason i use bitcoin.

And the fee, even conversion rate from currency to currency in Paypal they charged a small fee too.

Why not consider bitcoin to use and make payments online. It's one of the popular usage of bitcoin and I guess bitcoin is winning this so called race or competition. But let's don't have a competition like this as both are useful and we can choose where we will get mostly low fees and fast transaction or what you preferred way of transacting.

I doubt bitcoin will be able to cross paypal volume, at the moment we do have high fees over bitcoin something that we werent expect to happen now, besides those bitcoin investors traders and projects are already into a good number, but the thing is merchants in the general doesnt accept bitcoin, soo till we see bitcoin as option to purchase over merchants paypal wont loose the race.
Either bitcoin will accept payment into merchants paypal won't loose it's race first of all paypal is the greatest one when it comes of payment option with purchasing items also known as number 1 payment option with the company and people also i highly secured one when you bought some item and if you didn't receive any item simple dispute the transaction and you can get back your money while in bitcoin it can't maybe by the day come thosw people who had interest with paypal will also choose bitcoin as their currency only for trading and other activities. Bitcoin has already won, we are just waiting for PayPal to complete the race. It's just funny when people try to compare PayPal to Bitcoin while the two are lightyears apart. I don't think PayPal or any fiat payment system comes close to the blockchain technology in everything; anonymity, decentralization,global coverage, double spending and fraud... etc.
but the recent high transaction fees and delay in confirmation is giving negative points and new comers are getting afraid, until this problem is not solved i think more users will get afraid to use bitcoin

In this quarter I am sure bitcoin will be winning simply because of the flexibility however in other places I am sure they will go for PayPal simply because they control fraud and can even get you your money back and not only that, anyone who is trying to outsmart them, the account is banned and by so doing put of the business of scamming people but bitcoin, that is one deficiency even to the point of a tainted coin which does not stop any transfer of coins from one account to the other.
Paypal has both good and bad qualities. The seller also cheats customers and buyers also cheat sellers. So this is a very complicated transaction. And PayPal will take a long time to release payments. I agree they have control on our funds, anyone planned to cheat us they will take care, and they refund our money back. This advantage many people using it in wrong way this is the big drawback of PayPal.

Never knew that there are gambling sites accepting paypal. That would be crazy for gambling sites to accept it, I can't even think about how much chargebacks would be initiated against the casino sites if they would allow paypal deposits.

At a moment I think paypal is at top as it exists since long time and it also has more users in compare to bitcoins but in future bitcoin will surely take over paypal when it will become more popular among the people.

The only current flaw with Bitcoin is you can't send small transactions without enormous fees
