Theymos: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/new-captcha-now-required-before-posting-5447077

In my opinion, Royse777 pulled out a perfect one  Grin
I was most fooled by Theymos's April Fools.
Even I believed it might be true. And I was worried about this until one date was over.

I was a little surprised to see the new rules on the forum all of a sudden. But I think maybe this rule is made for forum development. Because there are many users who post irrelevant posts in the forum, maybe this new rule has been introduced in the forum to stop them. So when I go to post with interest and fill captcha according to that new rule I realize how difficult it is. And it's not just me, I've seen many big users on the forum who failed to fill this captcha. Seeing their failure I was very disappointed that how can we fill this cup where users like them are failing to fill captcha. But even if I was able to fill one of the two captchas with great difficulty, the rest of the captchas were impossible for me and I spent the whole day thinking about the fact that I could not match the captchas at all. Later, when I realized that these rules were made to fool users, I was shocked as well as very happy.

Actually, the real prank is the one to whom more people fall for, and personally, I fall for Themos and Ninja, but when Royse brought campaign like of around 5btc escrow I thought that would be the highest numbers I have ever seen on bitcointalk in any escrow address, and I thought that would be a prank because no one can launch such big events on April fools day but still, I was little anxious because ryose777 did not show the escrow address for security purposes, I thought maybe she is not fooling us. And for theymos, I will fell like really bad if there was not a fixed notification on the top bar and when I have seen it and read other members' posts about it as a prank then I realizes oh that's the case because back in 2022 I was not that active on btt so maybe I missed the previous April fools day. The fun fact is I really liked the game and played almost every game that day even I was not trying to post anything.

I really fell for Telegram bot, but before clicking on the link I thought why not check it on btt manually and i found nothing then I thought maybe the bot has been compromised then I give it up after sometime I came to know that's also a part of April fool hehe. But it was the greatest one. Well this also scared me because someone could compromise that bot and could convince us to click on the link as we unconsciously click on the link whenever it's from btt notifier (at least that's what I do) so from that moment, I always read the posts first then verify it by giving it a minor glance then I click on it.

Honestly, I'm not happy with the pranks that happen here on the forum every April fool1, although it turns out not to be true in the end. It's just like what theymos did that before you can post you have to score the required points and if you don't reach the required score you won't be able to post and if you don't want to play and direct post immediately it will appear in the account you're a spammer, I was a little surprised and worried and relieved when I found out that it was just a prank.

Then Royse777's I immediately believed it and hoped that it was true, but after a few hours I started to doubt because there was no escrow shown, so I just let it go because I knew it was just a prank, but many people believed it too. and those who have a lot of merit also came out due to the size of the salary offer in each rank here in the forum.

I'm aware in advance that anything I notice odd on the forum that hasn't happened before is an April Fool prank. It's been customary for everyone on the forum to encounter the unexpected on April Fool's Day, so I was prepared for odd things to occur in the forum. I was already ready to resist being swayed or falling for any.

Things happen, and Royse practical joke touched me.

I had no idea what to expect from Royse prank because I had assumed that she wouldn't play such a simple joke that would be easy for everyone to fall for.

That is a thing of the past now. The April Fool's prank will happen again next year. We'll see how it turns out.

Hehe, yeah I can see how it might look that way, but when I had the idea I factored in the 0% chance that you would be fooled. Grin

The opportunity to work with theymos on this year's event took me by surprise a little, so I wasn't as prepared as I would have liked to have been.

If theymos and I team up again for the 2024 event, then I've got a much better idea that I think basically everyone will enjoy. It's quite a bit more elaborate though and will take around 200 hours of programming (compared to the 50 or so that I could spare this time around).
I already guessed, you are going to work on development of New Forum Software, make a copy of database and implement on that new forum software and then on April fools' day Theymos will upgrade forum software for a while and the next day we will wake up with SMF again.
Well, I hope you'll team up because 200 hours of programming looks kinda scary and curious, can't really wait to see it happening. A lot of pranks will make that day more beautiful for sure Smiley

@T3PR00T
You should have created a poll together with the thread where people can vote and where we can see the results.

Considering that Royse777's new Sinbad thread had 10 pages, my vote goes to him as the clear winner. What I noticed the day after April Fools is that it shrank to 8 pages. I can't believe that people were deleting the "evidence" that they got tricked. That too was equally funny to me to the fact that we got tricked. Or maybe they expected some backlash from managers of their current signature campaigns and deleted their applications. It's funny either way.

Theymos's wasn't bad, but since we have gotten used to him doing something every year, we knew that something was coming. It was only a question of what. I like how the game wasn't playable, though, and that the damn bird fell every time you tried to collect the coins.

Am I the only one that doesn't know what TryNinja did Huh

Imho the clear winner is Royse, although I am sure he has made a few more enemies with that.

The interesting fact is that his prank could be seen also as a lesson, since it contains a few things we keep warning about:
- an offer too good to be true
- a campaign with rather strange requirements // something people keep ignoring although we keep warning people to read before jumping to campaigns
- a warning to not be to serious about earning/making a living off signature payouts

I know, the fact it's about a reputable campaign manager (OK, some may throw stones to me because of this statement) made people ignore the warnings and jump in. But hey, it was April the 1st!!

A worthy mention could go to dkbit98's list of April 1st HW offers thread.

I'll also add Smartvirus' attempt too as a mention. Not too bad.

I was not impressed this year by Theymos' idea, it was far too obvious. Maybe the fact I lacked the free time I used to have "helped" too. Although I didn't know the context on LoyceV statement on leaving; that one was actually cool.

Sadly I've missed satoshi's "I am back" merits. That was pretty cool. Shame it was not advertised more.

FYI, it was one of your posts that provided the inspiration for this year's fun. Wink

I wonder how difficult it really would be to add a captcha requirement for every post. I know some boards have them, sometimes even multiple ones. I don't know if it hurts legitimate posting
I'll leave Bitcointalk if that happens.

The best April fool jokes are the ones that make people feel dumb for believing it. I'd say Royse777 nailed it!
Yup, I agree. It was maybe a little mean-spirited, but very effective!

Theymos, although fun, has the problem that he does something every year and it's strongly anticipated. You can't trick people if they're expecting it.
Exactly. Most of the established members know something is coming, and the people that don't know are tipped off by the posts about it before the day.

All theymos can really do is try to make something fun and memorable.

When I woke up and went to post in Fresh Mind account login, suddenly a captcha like a game shows right next to my post. I was worried about this. And when I was posting something was being written at the bottom of my post. After a lot of time, I realized that if I want to post from now on, I have to collect coins by playing this game and then post. If I post after completing the captcha, my account might have a problem. But after many attempts I was really disappointed when I couldn't collect the coins. But when I see every member posting without filling the captcha, I feel a little confident that since they are not posting after filling the captcha, there will be no problem even if I do.
The way Royse777 designed the signature campaign had no way of understanding that it was April Fools. But the pay rate of this campaign seems very suspicious to me from the beginning. Why such a high-budget signature campaign opened on April 1 was highly questionable. And the spreadsheet hiding the escrow address hiding made me think maybe this campaign was a complete April fool. But I didn't want to take the risk, I applied for full membership in this campaign even though I knew April Fools.
In my opinion, Royse777 pulled out a perfect one  Grin
Theymos's April Fools is the best for me. Because I have thought many times that if I can't collect the coins by playing the game then maybe I won't be able to post anymore. And his fooling around seemed real to me, and to be honest I was very worried. But when I realized the next day that it was totally an April fool, I enjoyed it a lot.

theymos troll was actually fun the captcha thing and the flabby bird game was entertaining at first until it gets annoying because you need to repeat the game every time you're going to post plus if someone posted before you post your gonna need to repeat the flappy bird game, The red spammer tag was inevitable in the end but it was obviously an April fool thing.

The fake signature campaign relaunch was great, my campaign at that time was going to end so I'm already planning to join the campaign at that time, I was going to post my application but before applying I realize that it is an April Fool thing.

The 1000merit notification got at first when I read it the notification but it was obvious because it has the Rick Astley Never Gonna Give You Up link on Telegram Grin

So I think Royse777 is the best April Fool since it's the one that actually got me thinking that it's real and it's already late when I realize that its an April Fool.

I like all those that have taken their time in bringing up something funny to celebrate April fool about, Theymos had been trying over years before now but just as everyone is saying, Royse kill it all this year in his own unique grand style, everyone definitely want something big and raised expectations being on the forum for the to be favoured or lucky in participating in such a high signature paying campaign.

About TriNinja when open My telegram there's a message that I receive 100 merits because Satoshi is back then when I opened bitcointalk there's no changes of my merits count.

Guys, come on, it's just an April Fool's event. you are taking it too seriously for this.
Forum admins can make surprises by adding something to the forum. Campaign managers can prank everyone with short campaigns. and you as a campaign participant can also do a Prank by not making a post. maybe if you want.
Come on man, no need to get offended and raise your gun for fun like this. you are too serious, take and drink your wine, maybe it will make you more relaxed
I don't think have some one repost on reputation board about @Royse777 April fool after publishing with signature campaign from sinbad and YoMix with fantastic payment. How possibility some one do not know about April fool where every one have or allowed to make prank on that moment.

Not required offended what did by any one on April fool, they can make prank once time in a year and ending we know is not trues, but can't believing with some one get serious about April fool actually with new Bitcointalk rule about chapcha. I have feeling when first time checking post history several user detected spammer I believe that is only April fool.

Theymos got me better than others. The "suspected spammer" tag got me until I saw that almost everyone who posted on the day got it and realized it was a prank. The funny thing was that I had thought of that annual prank from theymos a day to the event. Last year (2022) I preempted the April prank a few days to it by making my Another Fools' Day post. I took it down on advice not to spoil the fun and then reposted on the D-Day.

Quote
That didn't get my attention as I ain't fond of jumping from one campaign to another. Again, come to think of it that was an already existing campaign. How would it spike its reward that high? A lot of users who applied there didn't take those things into perspective. They were just blinded by the reward promised.

Yo' everyone was expecting some properly cooked stuff from Theymos -- so when I woke up and saw an inscription on my profile that I'm a suspected spammer, I never panicked about anything, I just smiled and I got more convinced when I saw the same thing in almost everyone's profile.... I enjoyed the flappy bird captcha as much as I hate the game itself.
What was good about Royse is that he managed to attract bought spam accounts (suspects). There were accounts waking up after months of inactivity just to try to join the campaign, which is somewhat of an achievement that nobody is talking about.
Ninja got me for a while. I was actually considering trying the notifier, but didn't have time on the weekend. I could see myself using a similar software if it was ever made. Maybe not telegram-based, but a standalone.

Theymos played a huge prank on the whole forum no doubt and even though some old member were already aware of his pranks and some even say it was similar to last year prank. He has been playing series of jokes on the members since 2015 and ever since he always seem to have a new prank every April 1st and now it’s almost like a tradition which is why not everyone fell for his prank this time.
In my opinion Royse777  pulled off the best prank this year, it was a perfect prank and his technique fooled everyone easily, most members had doubts and thought it was too good to be true but applied anyway, no one wanted to miss out on the campaign. It was all fun though

Once again Theymos showed his genius, the captcha process was very difficult to pass. The more active the topic, the more coins you have to collect. It really took a long time to go through, the forum user chose to skip and received the tag This user is a suspected spammer! posted even though the red text was unsightly.

Who would have guessed that Royse777 played his role in April Fools this time, he managed to fool the forum users perfectly. The thread he made on the Service board managed to grab the attention of forum users, they kept on applying only to get high payouts.

Since I'm not one of the April Fools victims that Royse777 created, April Fools Theymos was a lot of fun despite taking a lot of time to complete challenges before posting.

I also vote for my friend Cheesy Royse777's as the best, although as it is a kind of job-related topic, maybe it would have been better not to do it because there are people who have felt hurt, but perhaps precisely for that reason it is the one that has caused more impact. TryNinja's one I don't know what was about as I don't have his bot and I hardly use Telegram at all. Theymos' one it seems it was not as interesting as in previous years.

We are used to Theymos's April fool pranks but not so from bitcointalk members, so it was sort of more believable at first sight, appears it fooled most too.

Tryninja's was nice as well, wish html parser had worked properly so we could have been fooled properly. Never gonna give you up instantly gave it that it was a prank.

April Fools is over, theymos won my heart for it. At least he got me into a person who enjoys the game, even if it's only for 5 minutes or so.

Royse777 is shocking, I think he has hurt few people this year's April Fools' Day. Everyone seemed eager to actually take a spot for $350 per week, it was an idea that was quite the test of the loyalty of the other campaign participant. Overall, theymos idea this this year is fun.

I must confess that Theymos really brightened up my day with his prank. It all started when I decided to create a post in the altcoin section, a section where I don't typically post. However, I encountered a captcha while trying to create the post. Being in a hurry, I ignored the captcha and proceeded to create the post. That was when a red warning pop-up appeared. Feeling somewhat anxious, I decided to edit the thread and fill out the captcha, which took me nearly 30 minutes to complete. The warning was just too alarming!

Later on, I discovered that Theymos had made an announcement, which I wasn't initially aware of, and then it all dawned on me - it was an April Fool's joke! I couldn't help but laugh at myself for being fooled so easily.

In my opinion the most funny April fool has been the one of Royse777 because his thread managed to reach 9 pages of applications in few hours only. It was the first time I saw that. But it would have been even more funny if he asked to the applicants to wear a weird avatar or signature with a fish hidden into it, before applying or a goofy personal text at least Grin The Theymos' one would have been more entertaining with a top score leaderboard IMO, I wonder what have been the best scores btw.

We all expected it to be a part but damn we are too much that April Fools is a joke and should not be serious, it is a good strategy where many people have been tricked by people we have to realize that next year we should not get caught again. LOL

At least it appealed to me this year, it was kind of fun especially when I had to collect quite a few coins between two green tubes.

While this one, Royse777 is attracting a lot of attention especially those who are applying and who are monitoring his campaign threads. Some consider the controversy, but I'm only neutral if it's just April Fools.

Many big members as per the rank were happy about the @Royse777 prank. Most of them who enjoyed it were either legendary or Hero Members. Some of us here are still in the process of building up our rank and most like me were not aware that a BM can also play such pranks. This is very new for me and in my opinion, you should not prank some members like us who are hoping to get accepted in a campaign high-paying campaign.

Did anyone check the reply of @Hhampuz on his shit thread?

Hm, some things shouldn't be joked about on April fools but to each their own.

I hope BMs like Royse777 understand what professionalism means. I as a member of his signature campaign was very much offended by his attitude. I do not care if he throws me out of his campaign after my reply on this thread as it will only prove his unprofessional attitude.

In reality, you only had to read enough of the applications in the thread referencing April 1st, April Fools and otherwise hoping it's not a joke, to realise there was a good chance it was a joke...

All that Hhampuz said was that "in his opinion" some things shouldn't be joked about, but the emphasis to me is "each to their own".  You could roughly translate this to Hhampuz wouldn't joke about these things, but obviously what other bounty managers do is their own business. Overall this is probably what made it by far the best April Fools joke, as not only did it fool people, it also upset/angered some people  Tongue

I otherwise don't think you'd be removed from a campaign from Royse777 for expressing your opinion. Furthermore, after all the criticism, Royse has since apologised:

If anyone felt hurt then please accept my apology.

Not even sure an apology is necessary imo. You can't trust anything on this forum on April 1st, it's how it's always been as far as I remember.

Some of my mentors in the forum later told me that Theymos's April fool prank was a yearly event so I stopped becoming worried when I couldn't win the game. But my campaign manager's prank was too real to be fake. I was already celebrating the unimaginable wage increase and had already started to plan how to increase my Bitcoin holdings. Yesterday was one of my best days because I was smiling and joyful although. I suspected it was not real when there was no bitcoin address requirement, but Iater felt that members can submit it when they have been accepted. The truth was I believed it with my whole heart. But it's still all good.

I understand how you feel mate but just chill and don't take it hard on yourself, I for ones never thought of it as a prank too for which I fell for in my bid to participate in a reputable campaign only to end up finding out it was an April fool prank, a serious one at that cost. Nevertheless we just have to move on, it's part of the forum's vibes and growing in the forum I don't see an April fool prank having any effect on that.

At first when I logged into the forum yesterday and saw the allocated "suspected spammer" on people's post heading, I was kind of scared, not until I saw a forum staff with such @ XalOlex, and other reputated forum members such as LoyceV, Cyrus & suchmoon, that was when my mind got relieved, as yesterday was actually my first "April fool" prank on the forum.

But I must confess, Royse777 did actually pull the most look-real "April fool" prank yesterday and does deserve an award for this.

The best April fool jokes are the ones that make people feel dumb for believing it. I'd say Royse777 nailed it!

Theymos, although fun, has the problem that he does something every year and it's strongly anticipated. You can't trick people if they're expecting it.

@TryNinja
-I haven't tried his pranks personally due to I didn't like to install things immediately even if they say it's safe and secure.I don't want to ruin my PC any further coz it's already ruined and I didn't have money yet to buy/build new parts/computer.  Cheesy

If I am not wrong. You are talking about his Game Cracking code? Well, That wasn't april fool.
Apart from Cracking that game code, TryNinja fooled his bot users by sending fake merit Notification from Satoshi.
You can read more from this thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.62013030
I won't say it was successful enough because of the HTML error. He did not get me this time. But, Some forum members were fooled. shahzadafzal was one of them. He literally searched his post history and checked satoshi's last active date and merit history  Grin
Buahahaha that was good enough if someone fell on that trick. Anyway I look forward to more fun events in the future. Thanks for the reference thread anyways.

This was somewhat predictable, ie something like this, based on previous April Fools Jokes on the forum that I can remember.
At least for anyone who's been on these forums for a few years was expecting something... newer members might well have been fooled though!

Probably the most effective one for sure, even if not to everyone's tastes.

Sounded quite good, though not very plausible!

Review on April Fools pranks:

@theymos
-for some people it is annoying and frustrating but for us who enjoyed challenge like me, it was still annoying and frustrating but because of that I played along and wanted to prove that there are humans out there who's ready to beat the system and refused to lose against robots and AI's. Cool

@Royce777
-it was already pretty obvious for me since the rate isn't really normal, but I still chose to be fooled (who knows if those opportunities are real, I didn't want to be left behind). It only shows how I am desperate to join campaigns  Grin, but in terms of effort? He really pulled that off. He's the man, imagine risking his thread and reputation just to pull off pranks like that. I really hate you royce you hurt my feelings  Cry.

Hi Royse,

To believe that it is not April Fool, please show us the Escrow address.
You are in Raul campaign. It's going to conduct in the same fashioned.

Everyone, please don't post off-topic. I deleted some comments. It will require me a lot of extra work if you keep posting off topic.

I hope you understand.
Royse's attempt was actually great but when he didn't respond whether it was April Fool or not and when he mentioned that he held 5 bitcoin in his wallet for campaign and when I checked the rates of Pay Per Post, I was like, definitely it's an April Fool party, on top, on time, so why not to follow party and make it look like a real?
Overall, great attempt!

Theymos's - This is my first time to see these jokes on this forum, so, I wasn't expecting such surprise from admins. When I wanted to submit post, I was like, wtf is this? Then I checked Meta board and when I read that owner added AI-enhanced CAPTCHA that would identify low-IQ people and it was actually flappy bird game, I was like, oh, gotcha, today is April 1.

TryNinja's - Thanks him again for this! HTML ruined the party, but wait, that's not over.

I would say Royse777's April fools was the most successful April Fools within the forum. Every year theymos came up with a new idea, and it was apparent that he would come up with another thing on the 1st of April. So, it was expected from him. TryNinja tried to fool his bot users in his way. But he messed up with the HTML. I tried to add a little bit by selling Coins. None of them looks successful enough.

But, Here, Royse777 Nailed it. Almost everyone got fooled by this prank. Some of us had doubts but did not want to miss the opportunity. So yeah. He got us all. @Royse777, Well Done, my Man!  Grin

When I woke up on April 1st when I went to post I was shocked to see yesterday's captcha game and when I failed to complete the captcha I was very stupid to see "This User Is a suspected Spammer"above my post. Because this was the first April Fools event in my life on a bitcoin forum.
@Theymos admin Sir yesterday's April event was really a new experience in my life. I hope to encounter April Fools in better and different ways in the future.

@Royse777 campaign manager's April Fool's incident is really commendable because it was really hard to guess if it was April Fool's or not. Hundreds of users were fooled by his April Fools incident and in my opinion it was one of the best April Fools in bitcoin forums in 2023.

Theymos didn't get me this time as, I was in expectation of some trick and the CAPTCHA could do little to solving that which haven't been such a huge issue on the forum just yet. Though, the length it went to programme and put something out is commendable. He makes us steam and let off steams everytime.

Royse777! Royse777 killed it this time. He did beat a lot of users and myself at some point. Using his position and disposition to prevent what we most like in a fashion that is suspicious but yet, very difficult to resist. Nice one Royse777,  I could say you won this round with numbers you pulled.

I didn't see nothing from TryNinja. From my scanning provided link, I couldn't make the findings and besides, the thread isn't from April 1st but a later date.

Theymos April fool almost got me worried because I couldn't meet up to pass captcha process, although all users almost got pranked but some knew it was a pranks.

For Royse777, I didn't even look at it because I knew it can't be true to be able to afford those payments for workers.
All the same the April fool really pulled out people's legs, who knows what next year would be and how tougher to pass the captcha again.

As always, it's a game that involves the whole community. This year's was not as convincing, but it was one of the most fun.
I believe that all users who posted during the day made a good number of attempts. Even though I knew it was all just a joke.
Of course, probably a good number of users actually believed it to be true.
It was certainly another good bet for Theymos.

Of the three mentioned, this one was really well crafted.
I think all current campaign participants, for a few minutes, wondered if it was true or not. Because the topic was very well constructed, and the "true" topic is locked.
Many, who understand less how the forum works to this day, certainly fell for this lie, and signed up convinced that it was a legitimate campaign.
Without a doubt, Royse777 has outdone itself this year. Will he be able to do better next time?

I believe that everyone who uses the bot, looked at the notification twice, to understand what was going on.
Although it was probably the lie that was most quickly caught, the surprise it generated in the first 30 seconds was interesting.
TryNinja was caught because of the HTML code, but this was certainly preparation for future situations, which may come as a surprise.

I think that's all three congratulations, it's been a fun day here on the forum.

Theymos's April Fool were fun but pretty similar to last year's. So everyone can easily understand that it was April Fool. So the fun is a little less then last year.

Royse777 The strategy was excellent and very realistic.  Especially the previous topic of Sinbad Mixer was locked and MOVE was written and then the link of the new topic was posted on the old thread it was totally realistic. Seeing this, most of the users got fooled and applied in a hurry. even i am also  Smiley

I had no qualms about it.  And I didn't see much user fuss about it. As seen in Royse777's strategy.
