I'm not sure about that but what will happen when the difficulty just rises too high and miners will be useless? Should they just be thrown away?

I still have my Jalapeno's as a memoir.  It will go in my personal museum of the house I buy with bitcoins someday. Wink

They will be melted in the fires of mordor, where there will be made bycicles out of the metal.

The first (effectively) 50TH miner will be built by a group of mathematicians at Cambridge University and will exploit a new SHA-256 attack. It'll run on a network of standard workstations and servers and the code will be written in scala, using akka remote actors.

ETA sometime in 2015. A big prize is waiting.

Bitmain and Gridseed all the way.
These companies have their sh*t togheter, doing what they promise.

Btw, I heard of this new company: Spondoolies. (What a ridiculous name)
They still have to prove themselves but they should be delivering their hardware next month.
http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/products/2-units-of-sp10-dawson-may-batch

I've been shipped ! I receive 3 SP10. They said mid-april starts the delivery, i received the DHL tracking the 17 or 18th of april.
I trust this company. Smiley

2 UNITS OF SP10 DAWSON – MAY BATCH
$7,995.00 .... and only 1.4 TH/s of mining power  Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue Tongue
No ROI for sure!

Its two units of 1.4Th each = 2.8 TH

The problem is the chips wont be getting much faster. 20nm chips is about as far as they will go for quite some time. My prediction is you won't see 10TH rigs till next year

What if we get to 1nm? Then all we can do is build ridiculously large rigs with loads of chips in them, so it has more hashrate.
1 nm won't be possible using silicon. That is about 2 atoms wide.
And even if you could, elektrons would have a significant probability to quantum tunnel through the silicon, which you don't want ofcourse.
I saw an interesting video on this lately, for the people who like to see it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtI5wRyHpTg

Best choice you would ever do.

I believe that Spondoolies will produce the first 50 terrahash miner.

You are so wrong. The new KnCMiner Neptunes use a 20nm chip.
http://www.coindesk.com/kncminer-finalizes-design-worlds-first-20nm-bitcoin-asic-miner/

Nobody saw working neptune yet, so it does not exists. I'm no longer believing in preorder markets.

The only ASICS that aren't preorder are Bitmain, Gridseed and Cointerra. That's it.

Nobody achieved asic of 20nm so far.
