New coins are being released every single day. This is not normal anymore. If someone would just start killing off these copycat coins.

Greed.

Most of the time. Some coins try to inovate, but I do not find the need to move from Bitcoin (or use 2 coins)

you should put your money away. lock it with a month time lock. do not invest anywhere.

any coin you see , will go up and down multiple times.

spend a good month on reading the threads. read every single coin. Look at the old ones. look at the new ones.

this forum is made of some possible good coins and mostly scamm coins to trick people to buy into them so the scammers can invest on the good coins.

everything is new here. and almost every single coin is still not secure.

again. make sure you read a lot. get involved.

Make sure you check a brand new coin's lunch. watch it how its get hyped. understand why.

Most of people here believe on BTC and only BTC.  every single coin is worth in BTC because of that. As big as Bitcoin is , it went from $1200 to $400 in maters of days. Clearly shows you bitcoin is still not established.

so when you see a thread telling you of this amazing new coin. its mostly a scam. or some one who got stuck with a huge back. or a fool believing the hype.

Here is a recent post i made when i asked a coin community to help.  Here is a cycle of a good coin. watch for this signs.
Quote
A good coin has an active and hard working dev and a community working for it.

The current team is not quitting anytime soon. That post was hypothetically. What i was hopping for you and others to get from it was that you'll should understand what older members in Bitcointalk mean when they say "the community" makes the coin.

Part A
At launch time, the dev team can make sure the coin launches and runs smoothly. Then push the coin and the technical part of it and adapt as new obstacles appear. The technicalities of running a good coin are limited to the block chain. This is the main importance of the devs.

Part B
To keep the block-chain running smoothly and effectively the coin and the dev needs its miners. The miner keep mining and solving the blocks and keeping the network secure.

Part C
To keep the miner happy , there needs to be a healthy community supporting them. There needs to be a dedicated community that ensures them that they will be compensate for their work by buying the coins from them at a good price. These dedicated members of the community are called investors. When investors buy these coin at a healthy price it keep the miner happy.

Part D
To keep keep the investors buying the coins at a healthy price the community needs to ......................??

A good coin has a community that has created multiple solutions to this part and are constantly creating more. A good coin has many follow up. A good coin with a good community continuous the chain as follows:

Part D   --------the road to success coin -------
To keep the investors buying the coins at a healthy price from the miner, the community provides the investors with reason that there will be continuous demand for these coins. The community shows the investors that people are building on top of this block-chain and soon people will use this coin as a mean to buy clothes, to buy electronics ,to buy services ,to buy food,to buy  games, donate to help, etc.

Part E    ---------- a successful coin ---------
The community has shown the investors that the usage of the coin will be unlimited and the community have provided more demand than the investors could provide. Thus Creating the virtual gold

Back to part D
This high demand of coins creates a reason for the investors to start offering more money to the miners to mine these coins

Back to part C
The high demand of coin causes a rise in prices. This higher rise in prices , not only keep the miners happy but creates a higher demand for mining work from other miners

Back to part B
This sudden rise of happy minners has created a more stronger and secure block-chain

Back to plan A
This stronger and bigger network create a bigger job for the dev to work on. To keep everything running smoothly the team of the dev needs to grow accordingly.

_______________________________________________________________________________ _____________________

All the scamms happen in Part C. fake accounts hype it up. selling you false lies that part D will be so big that this coin will be a high demand.

Don't invest on some one else advice.

Do your own research. Look for the community pushing for part D , not one pushing for exchanges or promising future wealth

good luck finding coins with a succesfull part D amongs this shit storm

oh and .. make sure you do not invest until you understand. This forum is very, very, poisonous. stay alert

You should look at the coins which were created in 2013. Possibly those before September/November (before the spike in interest). Most coins released after are useless, with a few exceptions.

it's kinda like those guy online we all know well that ask dumb questions online vs just taking 2 seconds to do a Google search..
some people need to be led by the hand.. and that will in turn get you what ever other people choose for you.

BTC and LTC are the backbone of the entire altcoin market.  Almost all altcoins are bought and sold using LTC or BTC as payment.  As to why so many altcoins, it must be profitable to bring new coins to market or people would stop doing it.

The only alt-coins which are scam-free are Litecoins and Namecoins. The others are all either pre-mined or pump-and-dump. If you don't want to lose all your money, then stay out of these shitcoins.

Many altcoins are scams, the others are a harmless hobby.  If you are looking for a way to waste time and/or money then you might want to look into altcoins.  Otherwise you should ignore them completely.

Roslinpl, thank you for your reply, you really hit the right nail with your answer and has actually helped me to better define what I was looking/hoping to find. I think it is safe to say that 99% of us all are really in it for the investment side of things Smiley

You are not right my friend.

Maybe 50% - not 99%.

For example I am not thinking about Bitcoin as it is an investment.
For me Bitcoin is form of money. Digital currency. That I can earn over Interweb from doing different tasks and I can receive payment for my work in a minutes even if it is 23:49PM Sunday night. Smiley With a little fee and so much fun!

Bitcoin is a currency. Bitcoin is not an investment Smiley But we can say it is as for some reasons people think it is Smiley And it looks like it is while people are hodling Smiley

I understand your way of thinking, just remember what really is bitcoin.

To buy some Bitcoins and hodl them for few years - we might call it an investment and it will make a profit for you for (almost) sure Smiley

What is your purpose of entering into world of cryptocurrencies - you must ask yourself that question.
If you want to use a coin to pay - Bitcoin and Litecoin are most popular.

But people are accepting few others coins in their shops too.

For example look how many coins is accepting this service:
http://hausfay.com  Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Coin2.0 and some others.

If your purpose is to became a trader - then you must remember, that altcoins are crazy. Market is crazy. You can gain huge profits and you can choose wrong coin to invest and your coin will be worth nothing.

I must say new Coin2.0 is making huge progresses and developers are really hard working people.
You can have a look at their thread

You should read about Dogecoin Smiley you should read about Litecoin too ...

But remember. Bitcoin is mother and father and grandfather of all altcoins.

Bitcoin is ♥. Not only a coin. Bitcoin is changing the world to better. Bitcoin will survive because we ♥ BTC.

Maybe one day some other altcoin will be as ♥ as BTC. Time will show.

Enjoy Bitcointalk !! There are tons and more informations about crypto currencies.

Regards.

Initially you have nothing to worry about, since alt coins are pretty much a gamble. Just focus on selling/buying bitcoin and you should be fine.

Those coins need to be adopted similar to bitcoins scale to see a bigger value.

I agree, but even Bitcoin still a gamble in its own right, would you not agree?

Huh WOW, thanks for that... now I am really gobsmacked! I thought there were just a few different variations of bitcoins out there, now by visiting that site you have suggested I see even more different types available that i did not know about. I do like the sound of the "benjamins".
