Yes its good to invest in altcoins as an extra investment carrying profits in short term period but only some coins with potential and real project are worth investing others not.On the other side bitcoin is the crypto pioneer and it can replace fiat in future if technology gets advance witj greater speed and low fees.The prices are high but once invested the profits will be huge in long term.The graphs tell the true history of it.

Altcoins has more advance technology yes,but the alpha which is bitcoin is being traded with most of the altcoins that is why bitcoin's value are going to still dominate the market,even though altcoins are much better investment than bitcoin alone because altcoins has good price movements than bitcoin as bitcoin's value is being manipulated by the few people.
I wouldn't say altcoin is better than bitcoin. Yes, there are some altcoins that bring more profit-but they are short-term

Probably because of two factors. First, obviously, the price. Altcoins are significantly much cheaper than Bitcoin. And so people would think it's more practical to invest in altcoins than Bitcoin because of the number of coins you'll get for the same price. And when the price of those coins increase, the greater chance of earning good profit. Second, which only a few really look into, is the market capitalization. Bitcoin's marketcap is so high as if there is no more room to grow. Unlike with altcoins with a low marketcap (with consideration of having a potentially good project) which has so much room to grow and become like Bitcoin on the long run. 
It's simple. In the season, altcoins bring a good profit. Today we can observe a small increase of altcoins, I think there is a purchase.
In my opinion no one is better than bitcoin even in the longterm. Most people are buying altcoins just to maximize and multiply their bitcoins but at the end of the day all that's matters is acquiring more bitcoins.Although few altcoins are unique and have their own used but most of the altcoins are just being hype by big investors to gain more btc.
I personally think that there are at least 3 coins that really deserve the title of leader among the cryptocurrency. But they do not have enough capitalization on the market.
I tend to think that NEO is now the best coin in the market from among the most promising. It once exceeds bitcoin and this is obvious.

I don't believe that some altcoin will shift bitcoin in future.I allways suggest to invest part into BTC, part into altcoins. BTC will give you great long term profit, but altcoins give you possibility to increase your money fast with more risks.
Bitcoin is better than most altcoins but maybe one of them can delete the bitcoin. Yeah could be one altcoin better than bitcoin but when ? maybe never.

This is a rather general question and it is difficult to answer. I think that everything depends on the coin with which Bitcoin is compared.
i think its just a method for anyone to use. if you want to use long term bitcoin always be better because bitcoin always number one on the market. if the short term of course the altcoin is the better.
I'm not an expert on the technical features of coins and tokens, but also in programming, but this does not need to be understood at all that Bitcoin has already outlived its and needs to be replaced by a good altcoin.
