Fear mongering. Every instance of Muslim violence is sensationalized. It sucks because I'm friends with a few Muslims, and they hate these terrorists as much as we do, if not more.

Terrorism should not have been generalized with the faith of a person.
Yet, muslims or the follower of Islam are looked as a terrorist around the world. (we might not but the majority of world does.)
What could be the reason for such stereotype?

not every muslim is a terrorist, but every terrorist is a muslim....do you see it?

To the Mooooon!

Maybe because most of the terror attacks in history involved Muslims. But we cannot actually say that Muslim is synonymous to terrorism because not all attacks were made by Muslims. I do not and will never share the same faith as them, but this stereotyping is a bit unfair for them. So let’s not generalize and just be objective..

Stereotypes get form based on available information in the brain to help us make quicker decisions. It's a brain defense mechanism and it's there to help and the use of stereotypes it's a good thing, can't really enumerate all the times a stereotype thinking saved me from danger or doing stupid things.

you can say isis which are islam became the famous terrorist group because of media, it is sad to hear guys like you are pertaining muslim as terrorist, there are a lot of terrorist group out there associated with other religion so i am not convince that being a muslim makes you a terrorist, in some ways you can blame media since most of the groups they are reporting on national news are mostly muslims but dont you know that isis itself does not all of its members are muslim? they are recruiting all over the world.

Most of the terrorist groups terrorist are Muslims. But we can't say that all Muslims are terrorist. Because of this terrorist groups other innocent ones are also blame. Every religion give message of peace. The young ones are misguided to attach for their peace . This is the reason why Muslims synonym to terrorism.

The teaching affects a lot.
Today the world has left behind the religious teaching and are taught about science and technology.
But still in the closed society of Islam, teachings like Jihad are being taught. They are brainwashed and can't think out of the box.
They do need modern form of education, that will widen their scope of thinking.

I think because in there Quran they teach that they should kill christians(i dont know for other religion)because they can get a reward for pleasure in heaven. If you commit suicide bombing and a lot of people killed then your reward will be great. You can have celestial drink or virgin females in heaven. So they killed people because of the Gods Word and also for themselves when they die.

I dont support anybody in terrorism, I dont care if he is muslim, jewish or somebody else....terrorism is a rlly bad thing!

OK. Agreed. But could you please give me the names of a few Jewish terrorists? Or for that matter, could you please give me a few names of non-Muslim terrorists, who justified their atrocities based on their religious book? I am sure that you won't be able to name anyone. And that is exactly the difference between Islam and the other religions.

There are some resons why these stereotypes exist.

To see these examples, do a search for “Skeptics Annotated Quran” and when you get to that page click on the “Intolerance” link on the right.

Like any other religion it has also good teachings. but put everything in balance and see how that goes.

Even though terrorist is a new word these problems exist since long ago.

You need to know more about ISLAM, what does it look like. Is there any history says ISLAM brutally kills someone else. Even in the battle, The Prophet Muhammad SAW told to not kill any women or children and the most unreasonable mindset of human, don't step on the plants, this small things is forbidden. The enemies of Prophet Muhammad SAW has already recognize the religion itself, they are admitted it. Islam is the peaceful religion, and it is in the straight way. Why those who killing regardless whether women and children don't say as a terrorist.

If there any muslim that does something wrong maybe you can ask our ulama. People are wrong because of their unknowledge.

Is there any belief that just ignore the slaughter?

I think the reason is the wrong news and tend to cornering the religion of Islam, many news media that disclose hoax news and news about terrorists are always linked to the religion of Islam, if there is news about terrorism that happens always in targeting the religion of Islam, even though many terrorism that happened not because of the religion of Islam or any other religion.

Islam is not a terrorist religion /Muslim are not terrorist. The word Islam means peace, pleasant. So Islam is a religion that teaches salvation good for oneself, especially for others.
Let's see with common sense, no religious teachings of any kind teach about violence, murder and massacres. terrorists are not religions, they are not belonging to any religion. Terrorists have no religion, they do not use any religious laws. Now we as humans who live in modern period, sophisticated, and advanced education should be smart in gaining information, not be easy to believe and conclude something. Nowdays, the media has a very big role to shape the mindset and understand the community. let's think smart.

One of the reasons would be the hatred that the West created for Islam, influenced by 9/11. The media fueled the terrorist / Muslim stereotype. People acquitted this stereotype, deceived by their xenophobia and hatred of immigrants (with the question that they are the causes of unemployment). In addition to our historical Christian indoctrination; the supremacy of Christianity in the West made it possible to revive the period of the great crusades as "positive" humanity.
As commented earlier, terrorism is everywhere, regardless of belief, country or race. Islam is not, and has never been synonymous with terrorism; what in fact exists, are radical strands, just as in Christianity itself, Protestantism, or any other ideology. And what actually happens, is the mediatic reporting of these cases of terrorism, extolling the aforementioned stereotype.

Muslims's closed society had made them extremist.
They have their own closed schools, where they makes their child xenophobic.
A good example they convince them music is evil.
They lock up their girls. Girls are just for being wives of a male.

But now the things are changing,
Muslim students have started sharing their desk with others. Where they are free to talk about anything and learn anything.
Girls are getting some freedom.
They are talking about ideas, science and music more than ever.

They just need more love and attention.

I think PART of it has to do with something called "confirmation bias" where you use a cognitive shortcut when developing your opinion of something by drawing upon the most readily available information. That information is all the stuff you see on tv, message boards, events that you remember vividly like 9/11, etc. At least from the standpoint of a US citizen and prior military service member, when I think of the word terrorist, "Muslim" pops in my head. I know it isn't true for most cases even in the Middle East, but that's my brain's shortcut

Terrorism is the systematic use of terror, or fear, to make the populace comply with whatever groups demands or political beliefs. Religion is/has been one of the most widely used tactics to do so throughout history. Currently it's Islam that is being bastardized to do so. A few hundred years ago Christianity was being used for such purpose. People/Governments use this tactic to ensure the population does their bidding. Xenophobia, propaganda, and lack of knowledge are the best ways to utilize this tactic. People need to keep this in mind and not get caught up in the hysteria and try to use tactics to counter this type of thought. Education, open thought, and understanding are some of the ways that can be used. But there are the hardcore supporters of this and they are the ones that need to have their thought processes changed. I'm not saying accept terrorism in the least, just understand where/how it's coming about and then find ways to counter it instead of becoming part of the mob mentality regarding it, that's how we get people that don't need to be hurt in the way of the mob.
