I'm trying to understand why are so many people against bitcoin?  is it the innovation that scares them? the feeling of staying behind? the fact that that money will go to the wrong hands?

This morning one of my co-bitcoin user told me that his wife is asking and discouraging her about what she is doing online and that is bitcoin. His wife said that he is just wasting their load on the internet and doing wrong thing such as believing that we can earn money to it. She want proofs. She wants to see the money. I guess she does not believe in bitcoin like we do because she does not understand bitcoin because she do not belong to our world. Besides it is online, in online there are lots of scam so it is in her mind I guess or maybe she knows that bitcoin is not yet legal in our country

I think there is many reasons. Basically there is so many ignorant people spread rumors and fake stories about Bitcoin and even don't know what is it. This people convince usually their relatives to avoid using or trading Bitcoin.
There is also some haters, which trade or deal with altcoins, or just want to bump their shitcoins by acquising BTC

Here goes some reasons why they could be against it:

Most of what there will ever be is already in few people's hands. Late comers just increase the power of the earlier adopters.

Relatively high fees for small transactions.

More likely for people stealing it to get away with it.

High and rapidly growing energy consumption.

Without an authority regulating it, it means there could be clones offering the exact same. In the event that alternatives aren't technically inferior, why adopt one or the other isn't clear.

I've only seen three types of people. One is who totally doesn't know anything about it and is not even interested in it.
And the other is the one who thinks it's used in crimes/scams/black stuff and it's unsafe and he should stay from it.

Against bitcoin ? Nope.
The third type is the ignorant who is just lazy to try something new and has thinks it's a toy or whatever in that matter.
Other than that are normal young people of the same age and way of thinking who get interested in it once they hear its price and that it has potential (they just think of it as an investment).

But if we talk about governments and men in power, it's still unclear. They really haven't given a clear statement of approval or denial against crypto currencies. (TV talkative idiots are not counted). My guess is they are either investigating if it's good or bad for their financial status or they are actually involved in crypto and making hell a lot of money out of it but can't say.

We can't do anything except wait and see what the days will prove.

The thing that I hear the most against Bitcoin is: "It is not regulated, and it's used for criminal activities"

All of it plus other things. First of all, they hate it when the they realized that the next generation is a better one and they are not part of it. They got insecure when new things make life easier because they experience it hard. They hate bitcoins because  it is easy-money-baby. So they always talk bad about bitcoins because they hate us.

yes, this is like my attitude at the beginning before believing bitcoin ,, i try to fight bitcoin by giving confidence in me that nothing can make money except with real work ,, and no word digital money, that's bullshit,
but my assertion was overwhelmed by the real evidence my friend was successful with bitcoin ,, and already, in the end I was not able to do anything else except I was now in a row with bitcoin.

I don't think that they are against bitcoin but maybe they are just making themself busy for another way of earnings. They are just ignoring this opportunity but doesnt meant that they are against crypto currencies.

In Bitcoin, the conventional common sense does not work for non-centralization.
As Bitcoin cannot control a country, it is objected.

There's basically two types of Bitcoin haters. The first type is the people who don't understand it and since Bitcoin is growing quickly, they reach conclusion that it must be a ponzi scheme, so in their mind they are doing a good thing by trying to warn others. This is your typical commenters on social media, journalists, economists and experts. The second type is the people who understand it and don't like its decentralized design - they see it as competitor to governments and banks, and in their mind people should be controlled by those organizations for some reason. This is your typical bankers, governments officials and their apologists.

Undoubtedly, bitcoin is a significantly revolutionising currency and there is nothing about feeling hatered with it.
Some people may be unaware of its privileges, or getting jealous over success of its traders, that's why they seem to feel against bitcoin.
Looking forward, they will surely change their mind when all nations mark this as legal currency.
It seems that just for a while crypto currency introduce in the business community but still there are people don't really understand or have some misconception about BTC because talking about money as we all know that it is very much susceptible to scam or some criminal attack, that is if they don't really understand some of the security features for sure they are against with these.

many of those "many people" you see are not against bitcoin. they are actually heavily invested in it but they pretend otherwise. someone who is spreading FUD in 99% of the times wants the price to drop so he can either short bitcoin or because he has some buy orders placed ahead of time at certain low prices.

i honestly can not think of anybody who does not benefit from bitcoin! even banks that some people say are against bitcoin or bitcoin is against them are happy about bitcoin. not only bitcoin introduced blockchain technology to them to improve their business but also it has opened up new ways for banks to make money. banks are in fact making a lot of money because of bitcoin, all these traders are using banks to handle their money transfers and there are lots of them Cheesy

Well that's one kind of people. There are others who don't since they are afraid to try new things especially the old ones nowadays since the impact of the news they heard in TV.

People are always saying negative things about bitcoin because they don't know it's function and also sometime people just want to dump the price of bitcoin. The only thing that i can see is that not all people know about bitcoin and every time someone ask them to do invest they always say no because they are afraid of getting scammed. Bitcoin is really great opportunity to make more money, so for me people should like this one.

I wouldn't say people are against it. Investing in Bitcoin is a risk, and those who can't take that risk is naturally averse towards it. They also know money could be had by investing, so they could have some jealousy or resentment towards those who took the chance. Basically sour graping. No one really dislikes innovation, especially since no one is forcing it down their throats.

Some governments are against it though. Its decentralized nature makes it hard to control and regulate. They're probably the ones afraid of money falling into the wrong hands via money laundering, illegal sales, etc.

Coin always has two faces. I am not someone against bitcoin but bitcoin comes with its own demerits. Untraceable operations are giving birth to a large illegal trade market. Moreover its volatility is actually restraining it from gaining status of an universal currency.

Maybe they really don't understand what is Bitcoin is all about, that like how it works and the possible benefits that they may get, they just need to be shared thru specific details and a deep understanding so that they will understand it slowly because not all people are high intellectual or a past learner that they can easily understand all about bitcoin. All i can say is just a little patience and if still don't works well it about time to leave them alone. Live and let live

I think they are the people who are in the government and in financial institution because bitcoin threaten the banks which will be the curency in the future, but for the individual i think they do not hate bitcoin instead they will love it because it will give them or us a good income which can be lead to financial freedom that is why as users of bitcoin we should need continue to promote and advertise bitcoin to others who do not know what is bitcoin or crypto currency.

I think alot of people haven't taken the time to understand what it is. But, in the coming years more and more people will be introduced to it. Showed my dad a documentary of Bitcoin last night. He seems less against it now Tongue

The major reason for people who are not for bitcoin because there is no acceptance officially  by majority of the countries. And since its not approved people would not be liking it much until they get clear laws and regulation about the bitcoin by their country government.

exactly this; as far as mainstream exposure of bitcoin goes, it's mostly presented in a negative way, or is presented negatively inherently because of the topic in which bitcoin is included is negative. just look at the most obvious examples: dark net markets (drugs, weapons) ransoms, all that good stuff. with something like that being the first exposure someone's had of bitcoin, its no wonder they wouldnt even bother to take the time to look more into it. of course, there are the curious exception who will do it anyways, but the grand majority do not. as bitcoin grows larger, and gains exposure, i think the public will come to accept it more as awareness and knowledge spreads.

Because they don't understand the true meaning and value of bitcoin. They don't want accept the changes in our technology yet they dont have intention to learn it. Maybe some of them are skeptical to the point not knowing even trying once in their lives.
