that is what being decentralized and censorship resistant means.
we keep hearing these terms or even use them ourselves sometimes but some people don't know the real meaning of them. and this here is exactly what these two mean, they are the reason why bitcoin can never be banned, killed,... because it doesn't have a centralized point of failure. to kill it you will have to kill thousands of individuals all around the world who are running a node and/or mining bitcoin blocks.
and that is why we always fight to keep it decentralized and kick anybody who wants to pull us towards centralization in the mouth!

If they were able to stop bitcoin, they already did earlier, now that the adoption is increasing and people understands it more, they cannot stop
us for using bitcoin. Remember that china ban bitcoin but it does not affect the crypto market, maybe a slight effect on the announcement but market recovers, this is universal and we own this so the government can never stop it as long as the support is present.

The story of the threat of decentralization of Bitcoin by the Chinese mining factories is certainly the place. But I think that the main holders of Bitcoin understand and know about this threat. Therefore, the necessary measures will be taken in the future.

To my opinion there is no fear of banning Bitcoin because most governments, at least in developed countries, are aware that Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies can't be marginalized anymore.
And well aware of its potential value in the future,. perhaps only those countries that is under military dictatorship can be against it or at least don't want technology innovation.

Thus, this ban will be a long process for every country and sure the voice of the people will be above of government before it will be implemented. For now I even don't see any threat for the government to ban bitcoin especially in my country and besides there more big issues needed to be focus than bitcoin.

Like what you mentioned, I think the banning is impossible. Countries banned it, people can use p2p transaction to buy/sell and that's so hard to control by government. Perhaps, the government must shut down the the power grid. Smiley

It cant be banned,  first of all they must wipeout all the miners in the whole world. Miners is the source of Bitcoin's life.  Another nobody knows if you own a mining rig. Long live Bitcoin!  I tell you crypto is the future of money.

I would like to take up the points of an article published on Bitcoinist. (Even if some will say that this media is Pro-Bitcoin the points are the most important.)

Any regulation can't prevent us from using Bitcoin. Despite their attempt to keep an eye on the system, it is simply impossible for them to ban people using it. So why giving a fuck to "I'm afraid my country will ban Bitcoin!"
They have nothing to fully stop the ecosystem that is currently emerging.

So why giving a fuck to "I'm afraid my country will ban Bitcoin!"

because although nobody can stop you from using bitcoin but as a "law abiding citizen" you don't want to break the law even if it is unreasonable Smiley
so for example if a country bans bitcoin and decides there should be imprisonment for anybody using it, no merchant is going to accept it, because why would they? so there is no usage. you would also think twice before wanting to own any bitcoin.

besides it is not black and white to ban or accept with open arms. in 90% of the cases it is about restrictions, high taxes, unreasonable regulations,... that can be preventive for the adoption.

People continue to use it from the countries where ban is imposed over bitcoin. One who has used to it will never stop using it at any price. With this even if the entire countries around the world bans bitcoin, the usage will continue as the present. Being decentralized help people use it in a much safer way than other sources.

Banning bitcoin will only slow down the development of bitcoin and will not eliminate bitcoin. as long as we have internet access, we will still be able to make transactions with bitcoin. overall that bitcoin was created as a free transaction and can be used by everyone in the world. banning will only reduce prices, because demand will continue.

The argument is right and they can't really ban bitcoin but I think what they're trying to do is stopping people to use it. Since they can't control bitcoin, they're controlling the users of bitcoin in their country. If you are just a normal citizen it's hard to go against the government and they have no choice. Unless you want to be a deviant just to make a transaction

bitcoin can not be banned because it is decentralized, I believe that countries know they can not prohibit it (no matter how many laws of censorship laws they approve), what they seek is to make it difficult for people to interact with bitcoin (not being able to buy or sell easily) and thus reduce its importance in the country

I think that the author of that article should speak with the Chinese Government since they are now banning bitcoin. We all know that once the Chinese Government moves it's for real. Too bad for Chinese people who use bitcoin and other cryptos, lucky for us since our government thinks the same as the author of this article.
The question is did Chinese already banned bitcoin?and who told you that they are banning this cryptocurrency?where did you get rhat stupid idea?know what?next fime before putting some issues betther you have proof so you won’t look like stupid

Bitcoin will never be banned because Bitcoin is the most influential crypto currency this time. There is no online site that does not accept Bitcoin. The most expensive crypto currency in the world is this bitcoin whose price is more than five thousand dollars. Bitcoin is the most trusted one of the crypto coins that people have gained to believe. Bitcoin priority in online marketing is the first of all.

Bitcoin can not banned because its decentralized and there is no CEO. Bitcoin depend on internet network and if government want to ban bitcoin, government should ban internet or shutdown internet connection to their country. There is not law or regulation can reach bitcoin because the decentralized system and miners hold the transaction data. Data spread all around the world

Please provide a source to your claims regarding Chinese Government banning Bitcoin. Speculations with no evidence are just false accusations which are not needed in the crypto ecosystem.  I have seen this speculation but no one has provided any evidence to back this claim.
There is not way the government can stop people from using Bitcoin even if they ban it usage in the country.  You can be in any country and still trade your Bitcoin for fiat money easily.

I think we are talking about two different things here.
Bitcoin can't be banned as a technology because you can't prevent people for using it, it's available for everyone. But the other thing is that governments could put the use of Bitcoin out of the law so that it becomes illegal. So, basicly you could always use Bitcoin because all technologies, sofwares and devices are available to you but you will be doing it on illegal way if some governments adopts the law against Bitcoin.
To my opinion there is no fear of banning Bitcoin because most governments, at least in developed countries, are aware that Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies can't be marginalized anymore.

They have nothing to fully stop the ecosystem that is currently emerging.
Well, technically speaking, they could start to target the IPs of network nodes and have those as blanket-banned, however, it would be a difficult process and trying to shut down a series of changing IPs simply wouldn't be sustainable for the government to do, even if there were multiple governments involved. Not to mention that it would be a good eye-opener for a lot of people when they see that governments try so hard to shut it down. There are some weak points within the network at large, however, because it is open-source there's nothing that can really be done aside from large attempts to censor it, as I mentioned.

China hasn't found a good way to ban Bitcoin yet, assuming they're trying to, and they're trying for the thousand-cuts approach based on the (maybe FUD) news I hear coming out of the country. If China can't ban it, I don't think many countries will even try to.

They can't enforce a ban effectively, but they can certainly hamper adoption. If a government officially prohibited its usage/ownership, I'm sure that driving it underground into the black market would hamper usage and adoption there. They could never really stop people -- we have encryption and there are simply too many of us. But you might be surprised how many people would fall in line if the government said so. I also think running mining operations at any real scale would be problematic under prohibition in that situation.

Srsly, with that kind of logic one could argue that you can't ban anything, and you can even trivially conclude that since crimes are illegal, yet people still commit them, then laws are useless. But the point of any ban is to deter usage, so bans should be judged by how effectively they deter when compared to no ban. An economic system like Bitcoin's, which relies on free markets would be seriously crippled if people wouldn't be able to easily exchange their coins and discover the price. A share of criminal usage will rise from today's 1% because law-abiding citizens wouldn't want to risk doing anything with BTC.

If I'm not wrong then another point is missing "You can't shut down internet"

Nothing can stop Bitcoin IMO.
We already know some countries have banned Bitcoin but the usage of Bitcoin never got stopped from those countries?
Peoples of those countries are still using Bitcoin under the nose of governments with a high risk of getting arrested. However, those peoples pay higher fees in cashing out Bitcoin.
