To find out about new cryptocurrencies so I can be one of the first to mine and hope they gain some value... Doesn't really work :/

Just make your own coin

I like the fact that its such a libertarian community without actually being "libertarianforum.org". Also some of the people here are crazy smart. Also my main interests are economics, philosophy and technology so there are a lot of people here who share those interests.

I think I misspoke in my original response as to why I came to Bitcointalk, as I only responded with a few words--an insubstantial post if ever there was one and a wasted one for that reason. The truth is much more interesting and, to reuse a term from the preceding sentence is less negated form, more substantial. I came here to post in the newbie forum until such time as my account was deemed mature enough to post elsewhere.

Well I'm here because I want to buy some mining equipment.  I'm looking to buy a cube from a group buy.  Unfortunately, since I just made my account last night, I can't send a PM to place my order yet.  Therefore, I'm posting in the Newbie section so I can send a PM in 4 hours after the restriction has been removed.  I'm also hope that I'm not too late to the Bitcoin party.  Time will only tell.

Because this is the official bitcoin forum and one of the first results relate to bitcoins. Personally I came here looking for a way to buy bitcoins without sending my documents to an exchanger.

With Localbitcoins you can probably find trusted sellers. Here it might be risky, unless you use escrow

Making a coin for your school, city or group of friends is the best way to get coins without buying them on regular exchanges And all you have to do to get people mining it is post about it in the altcoin section once it's made
