Simply because they are men. If you ask, Why do women think men are inferior to them, it's because they are women. Vice versa.
For centuries, People think that women are the creatures who deserve to be treated badly. Most of the men think that women are fragile, powerless and they cannot make a significant contribution to improvement to civilizations. Where are these opinions come from ? What do you think ?
I think these depends on which area of the world we are looking at. Cleopatra from Egypt serves as their Empress a long time ago. There are leaders of a country who are female. But I definitely agree with the idea you mentioned in the most general sense. I have read news about women who doesn't seem to have even deserve a place in their community. It was as if they lived just to satisfy men. Their were lots of discrimination for them. Others are sold as slaves and became victims of human trafficking. They are human beings too so that they deserve to live a happy life.
I am not certain that men (in general) every thought that women should be treated badly. I do think that standards of how women should be treated have changed over the years. I think many women and men from the 1800's, Middle Ages, and Bronze Era would be horrified how 21st Century America and Europe treats women. They would say we don't protect them and allow them to be exposed to danger. I think we must consider time, place, political setting, and even technology when we look at our ancestors. Every man has a mother and many have sisters and wives. I don't think most men have bad intentions towards those they love.
Well, only in some well identified countries men think that women are inferior to them.
Actually, they are so afraid of women potential that they try to stop them from going to school and make adequate preparation.

Men think women are inferior to them for they believe that women were created after them, that women are weaker, that women cannot do heavy work, that women are for household chores ones.
To me women are not inferior and will never be it all depends on people ways of reasoning because God women be loyal to your husband you want use the opportunity to make look inferior my dear anybody that says women are inferior are not born of a woman worb we should try and have gender inequality.
As far as I know women struggled to get their right until 20th century. In Middle era and New era women tended to pursue their right. Their self awearness as equels with man. Maybe it started earlier. That is just my opinion.

In my opinion, women inferior to men are right because men are stronger than women. They make money better than women. The rich billionaires are men. The brilliant scientists are also men. The leaders in the world are men. So men are better than women.
Being a female myself, I would say that there are a lot of fields in which the men are superior to women. A few examples are coding, investing, software development, athletics.etc. It is a truth and there is no point in claiming that the two genders are equal.

That is only true with feudal social conception. Men are the breadwinner in the family, women only care about the kitchen. But today that notion is not true.
