Who is "they" and it's not illigal. You cannot make it illigal how would you ? How will me police man and government man know I'm using bitcoins ? They won't that's how. Also if you live in a place like china just save your bitcoins and move to a another country when you feel you have enough saved. You could also cash out in that country and pay them tax instead if on a government who doesn't care about you one bit.

And what should they say if they are not in a position to do so and can not be controlled, or taxed. Rejoice until they start radical measures.

I think there's no border about legality. Because if government prohibit it, we still working normal on exchange. And who know? maybe "government" also trading it too Smiley

It is definitely not illegal in my country. I buy lunch with it and I pay my parking fees with Bitcoin. I buy goods and services at several online websites. < Overstock.com >

The people who are saying this, do not want Bitcoin to succeed. Do you live in a country where Bitcoin is banned? < Bangladesh, Bolivia, Ecuador & Kyrgyzstan >

I am so lucky that I live in a country with a open mind that allow for people to communicate freely and where Bitcoin is allowed to thrive!

who are "they" and what country they are talking about?

bitcoin is illegal in a handful of countries. you can see them here (the list is mostly accurate): https://coin.dance/poli#legalitybycountry

but in the rest of the world (190 countries) bitcoin is legal. so when "they" talk about bitcoin being illegal there are 3 possibilities:
- they are talking about one of those countries above
- they are idiots who don't know what they are talking about and just repeat something like a parrot
- they want to spread FUD to cause panic and help manipulate the price so that they can buy bitcoin at a cheaper price. (it was $500 profit on each coin if you bought bitcoin in the recent FUD dip)

"They" from different forums so no exact country. Plus Iforgot which country they are talking about.

Because "they" don't know what they're talking about. "They" haven't broken free of the monetary system they live in. "They" don't understand Bitcoin.

It's so funny how people assume the worst about something new.

Why would governments want to make Bitcoin illegal? Most governments, or the financial systems by which they are run, are making a killing owning bitcoin.

Not to mention, "they" don't want their current currency to be overrun and allow us to gain control of our own!

It depends from a country where you are located. In some countries bitcoin is fully legalized like Japan, South Korea. In other fully banned like Venezuela, North Korea. In most countries status of bitcoin is unidentified. Should central banks consider bitcoin as currency, money, store of value, fake money, tokens....etc.? The more time flows the more bitcoin becomes mainstream and more adopted. And it is more difficult to make it illegal. It will not become illegal in western countries in my opinion. But governments will force to show it, pay taxes and explain where did you get it... until it become anonymous))

Can you link us to those "topics" saying that bitcoin is illegal? I don't know what forum you're visiting since I haven't read similar posts in a while.

but the goverment obviously can not track our Bitcoin because they can not,
Bitcoin known as an anonymity assets

Government entities can possibly track your bitcoin if they wanted, especially if you're using bitcoin services such as Coinbase or even simply when purchasing something legal or illegal online. Bitcoin isn't totally anonymous, it's only anonymous to a certain extent. That's one of the small downsides of the blockchain being public.
