I have heard it said over and over again that some people gamble just for fun without a care if they win or lose and it's a puzzle for me why anyone would be interested in putting their monies to risk without expecting a win. I sincerely think that this line of thinking is just the consolation prize people put forward to hide their pains and hurts whenever a loss come knocking their door.

There is always one reason to get money
In this world a person is nothing without money and many are able to afford a house , a good family and many other basic needs but some people have big dreams they don't want a normal life they want a big house , a expensive car , branded watch , etc and they are not able to fulfil all this with the current job so they choose gambling a way people can double their funds (not always) , it has a huge risk involved but many only gamble thinking of the profit of the reward not thinking how negative effect it would have on them if they lose

Probably the reason why they gamble, it's for fun and hobby.

Playing gambling is a choice, it is not like we need it to do everyday, maybe OP asked something like that because he knows someone who is losing too much in gambling yet he is still continuing playing it. The only specific reason for playing gambling is to make money. Those people who come for playing gambling they want to us short cut and make money from gambling. Very honestly for more than 90% people the only reason to play gambling is to make money and nothing else. Very few people may be playing gambling for fun or enjoyment and entertainment. Most of the time those people who become disappointed in life and they need to earn money or those people who are living with low income and they cannot fulfill their needs just living from hand to mouth they try to use their luck in gambling.
