Just the main reason why the cryptocurrency space is filled up with some bunch of scam coins littering the whole place and some gullible investors who are after the profit dumbly investing in them.

If they are not all about the tech, then how do they want to drive in demand for a sustainable value in the future? Oh I forgot! The usual pump and dump coin where the fake developers are going to be busy enriching themselves until some set of people like you bagholding. So you think just because it is cheap, it is good?

Go to coinmarketcap, way down the list, you will see some dead coins, that is the fate of this one and don't come crying when you lose all your money to some losercoin!

You can't just spell out coin's price and claim that it's cheap. I dont have any info about this project so i'm talking generally. You have to look at coin's supply then compare it with other coins. If it has a cosmic amount of supply it's normal that it's price will be cheap. I think it's one of the reason why ripple skyrocketed during last bull season. People saw its price and thought that it was so cheap

Why not both? Answer for me is both. In real markets its all same with companies. People invest because they wanna make money and they wanna see that company becoming successful. So coins are growing, its fun to watch, more fun to make money at the same time.

Okay all of you guys make great points and Im not saying tech doesnt go hand in hand with making money....im asking what are you more concerned about? Because if you are not making money...I don't believe most people are going to be interested in cryptocurrencies...furthermore I think that to further cryptocurrency people need to make money!! I wouldn't play clean, I came here mainly for the money but have learned that the tech will play a vital role in the years to come. For months now, I've been reading about the possible implications of blockchain in real world situations, especially on how will it change the norms specially in banking and finance. The applications would be immense, specially in the field of automation, that's why companies, banks and the governments are gearing towards the development of their own blockchain-powered systems.

Right now I'm glad to be a part of a revolution while making some money on the side and nope, wouldn't buy your altcoin.

I think when it comes to investment, people invest to make profit which is MONEY in turn. I don't think there's anyone that goes into an investment just to loose money. As for me i invest in these coins to make MONEY...

In response to the question in the topic of this thread, I would say that I am in bitcoin for both things. I see the potencial of the tech, and I hope it works well, and from that point of view I really don't care about the price. I prefer to make an international transaction using bitcoin, and I would also prefer to make online payments with bitcoin over other services, as soon as it becomes available. I would like to keep a big part of my economies stored in bitcoin instead of keeping them on a bank. For all of those things to be possible I will need a low volatility, at least similar to gold, and I will need fast transaction and low fees. For that to happen bitcoin needs to evolve, and I will gladly hold my coins and wait for that.

On the other site, I'm also trying to make money with it, because right now bitcoin, and crypto in general, offer great trading opportunities, and there is not point in letting that slip away.

As for the quote I made from your post, I would say that it prevents me from enjoying what you are promoting. If a project is only concerned about making money, without any strong fundamentals to support it, then on best case scenario it's a bubble, and it will end badly. I don't invest in those projects.

It's entirely possible to do both; make money while helping along a new technology.

Crypto-currencies and the underlying technology will revolutionise more fields of knowledge than anyone can even begin to understand today and push humanity to new horizons and some of us will become incredibly wealthy in the process.

It's only logical to assume you invest in order to make money, or else you'd effectively be giving to charity and most people aren't in a position to do that. BUT... If you don't believe in the underlying technology backing up your investment then why would you invest, that would make your expectation for your investment negative.

You are wrong in your assumption that they cannot go hand in hand. If you invest in something because you believe in it and the technology behind it, then the money will follow.

Find the projects that are revolutionary and have the best guys and ideas behind them and then you'll also find the ones that help you to earn a lot of money.

If you do not believe in the technology then you'll only lose money because you'll dump your coins at the first signs of a struggle and then you'll buy them back later at a higher price when you realise that you were wrong.

I will still entertain your question. Most of us, have our own reasons why we are invested in this technology and I do not know
