Twitter and facebook have invested billions in their existing security protocols. If they want to use blockchain as a backbone of their platform, that will need a drastic overhaul of their platform which would need another few billions of investment.

Also the stock pricing of facebook is not doing well since the case of Cambridge analytica surfaced. They would also need the stakeholder approval if they want to execute this drastic overhaul. So I believe it is not anywhere near to their priority list.

Please don't compare steemit with these two giants. Steemit is not even closer to them and with very limited functionality, their chance of even coming closer to them is very bleak.

Because, why would they in the first place? How would blockchain technology help Facebook and Twitter's platform exactly?

Remove your mindset of that every single thing should have it's own blockchain. Blockchain is very unnecessary in most platforms, hence why we see a lot of useless coins and tokens.

Basically this. Facebook and Twitter may be two of the biggest social networking websites today, but they don't need blockchain in the first place. They're good on their own. And I agree. Not everything should run on and use blockchain. It's a great technology but we don't have to shove it down everyone else's throats.

They are already highly successful with no need to venture into new largely untested technology. They can do without for now, if they need the investment they can do an ico

I can think of few reasons:
-They are doing well without the blockchain technology.
-They don't support decentralization, they want to keep control on their companies.
-it is a new technology, and switching to it seems risky.

Well, Facebook and Twitter is one of the largest media for advertising cryptocurrencies but although it is big, most people are against to avoid scams and such things that will impact the creators of this platforms. They don't want to taint their reputation when something bad happens in cryptocurrency space.
People might be against advertising of shitcoins and various other crypto-related scam ('win $500 in ethereum with 100% guarantee' kind of things and facebook crypto groups are full of that), but I don't think they would mind a facebook official token or something. It would be great if more social networks used incentives for high quality content in social networks. It would still be profitable for companies, because they can hold a significant amount of these tokens and grow their marketcap, but it would also make our Internet space better. They have lot's of money from ads for now, so they don't bother creating their tokens, but we'll see what they do in case the Internet Bill of rights becomes a law and the advertising suddenly stops being so effective.

Why facebook or twitter, reddit does not use blockchain technology, just like Steemit?

Steemit is like of a success in media, I think.

And why should they? No use for them. Will it generate more income? I don't think. Just a few bla bla bla buzzwords for 3 months ans then...nothing.
It needs to have an incentive to reward

They don't need it. For Facebook and Twitter everything is now going well. Many are using their platform and they are enjoying without problem. So, the difficulties of using blockchain technology don't worth. Also, they want to always able to control the users. They can ban accounts and remove any post they want.

There is trouble abrewing
because steemit is a pointless attempt at using blockchain technology which ended up NOT using it at all!

think about it a little, where does steemit.com using blockchain technology? there is a website (domain and host) which has nothing to do with blockchain technology, you sign up which means you are creating an account in their SQL database which again has nothing to do with blockchain technology, then you post which goes into their SQL database like any other platform including facebook,... which again has nothing to do with blockchain technology!

so where does it come in? only when someone wants to pay you because of your post they do it in a centralized way! it is not even using decentralization as in paying directly to your STEEM address! it pays you in their centralized database token (has nothing to do with blockchain technology) then you can withdraw to your address and that is the only time when this technology comes in!

now do you still say it is a success?

Actually you can ask them directly with their supports but there's one thing that made noise about this.

Facebook's blockchain team is looking for a lead dealmaker
Facebook Has a New Director of Engineering for Blockchain
Facebook is launching a new team dedicated to the blockchain. Messenger’s David Marcus is going to run it.

This is a quite bit old news for this year and I don't know what's the recent for this one but I guess that answers your question from them. But I don't know with the others.

Steemit is like of a success in media, I think.

Because I think that those companies are in a perfect of operating right now and they don't want anything that would really ruin their company in anyway.

Both  Facebook and Twitter run successful businesses and using the blockchain could possibly affect their current business negatively because not everyone is in support of this technology, but these are big companies and am sure they already have a division doing their research about it for future use.

i believe that the big company like twitter and face book is research about bitcoin right now and i think they don't use blockchain because they don't have enough research, and i think they will use or ready to use blockchain when their research about blockchain is success or get the big result

Facebook and Twitter are still giants in the social media industry, it proves that users don't really need Blockchain technology for social media, as a Facebook and Twitter user, I also think they don't need to use Blockchain technology because the advantages of Blockchain technology are not very useful for my social media

Currently these are two of the most extensive social networking channels. They all grow by delivering ads on them. There are too many ads for fake websites, and this has had a negative impact, so these two platforms have reportedly stopped supporting for Crypto-related ads. This is also why they do not develop their Blockchain platform.

Maybe because it's already working good enough for the directives.

Maybe because it's an expensive change, also exposure to failure.

Maybe because its a new difficult, maybe lose some users, new learning required.

Maybe because they are social mind control tool and it not good for the actual monetary system.

Maybe they wait till some competition pops-up and then make moves.

just some ideas...
