I have not really bought any bitcoin in a while, i have been mostly trading this last year.  but i have been trying to buy today from localbitcoins and bittylicious and it has been a real challenge.  they want photos of me holding cards on localbitcoins and on bitty they need about 4 different forms of id, what is going on.

this is seriously restrictive to anyone wanting to get into bitcoin,  like its meant to be pseudonymous but if the gate ways into bitcoin dont allow that people will be put off.    Huh
Why in your country is that hard to buy bitcoins? In our country when you will buy bitcoins you will just give the money to the seller or we have a app called coin.ph and you can cash in or buy bitcoins anywhere and anytime as long as you have money to pay with the bills you can cash in thru the nearest store for bitcoin. I hope your country have hassle free buying bitcoins too.

Buying bitcoin is not hard because you can do that easily without going to a store or submitting any legal papers. You just need your money and you just need to make online account on exchnager's site where you can buy bitcoin easily but don't forget to make a deposit first before you place order because buying bitcoin without deposit on a site is just a joke Roll Eyes.
that's bullshit. most of exchangers require you to submit legal paper to avoid fradulent transaction i say majority of them because the exchangers dont want to lose any money because of this problem and your post saying that "you just need your money and you just need to make online account on exchanger" obviously reflect that you don't know what you're talking about
Indeed and most exchangers do really require this kind of documentation because its part of their ToS. The thing comes to my mind on buying bitcoin without any exchanger involve would be peer 2 peer transactions on which you could buy bitcoin directly from other people without the need of exchangers but expect they would surely put interest on each exchange.

P2P exchange is already here bitsquare.io

Buying bitcoin nowadays is getting very hard in my opinion because of some regulations that are posed by the ones who manage sites that let's you buy bitcoin. There are some ways though that won't require you to have id and fill up some nasty form but you need to reveal your credit card info. You can also use payeer and c-cex where they allow you to deposit usd via payeer and many more.

I can confirm that statement as in our local exchange, members are required to comply with the KYC policy herein we are obliged to submit a necessary ID's and a selfie before we can verify our accounts.

I dont see any problem into buying bitcoin nowadays, the only possible problem would be the fact that 1 bitcoin is worthing 900 dollars and looks like does wanna to reach 1000 dollars on the next months. If you are wanting to buy a large ammount well, you can buy all months a small ammounts as i know, but in the general you will be asked to give your credentials and expose yourself as owner of xxx bitcoin ammount.

OP, they need this as the security measures are now getting more and more intense with the increase in number of scams taking place at these exchanges. People blame the exchange when any such scam occurs, and so for the safety of you only, they need it which is not bad IMO.

it is not hard to buy bitcoin at all,but it is hard to buy bitcoin for the right price
don't think it is more complicated than bying gold or silver
with more adoption to come,we will see bitcoin ATMs,bitcoin accepted at the malls and shops and much more outlets to be able to buy, sell or exchange your coins

Yes it is not hard but OP says that it is hard to buy without giving too much personal information which is true in some sites .

I suggest for OP to look for some articles in the web cause they are helpful and moreover easy to undersand . Like this for example: https://www.buybitcoinworldwide.com/kb/buy-bitcoin-without-verification-id/

I agree there will be more to come if bitcoin fully adopt . In fact in my country we have an exchange called coins.ph . It allows us to buy and sell bitcoin and pay or get the money in various ways like in banks, remittance centers or even to be delivered door to door .

When I first bought my Bitcoin was also very difficult and incomprehensible. And scary. But after I did it once, I realized that everything can be done without problems. You just need to find a convenient exchanger

It isn't so hard : make sure to find a deal here with someone willing to trade bitcoins for PayPal, add money on your PayPal account, buy the bitcoins to the member directly. I've never done so since I didn't need to, but it seems that there is quite a bunch of people doing it.

i think its not so hard to buy bitcoin because for now, we know that bitcoin is available in many store online unless in offline store, and you can buy bitcoin from your friends which have bitcoin too.

maybe the word "hard" its mean about the bitcoin price its really expensive if we want to buy 1 bitcoin, but if we only have small amount of the money, then we can buy for small amount of bitcoin too. its depend on how much we want to spend the money.

I am getting the sense that this thread is a bit of an exaggeration about a situation that does not exist to be as perilous as it was made out to be .. maybe a kind of trolling?

The fact of the matter is that there are a lot of ways to get into bitcoin and continuing to evolve (that  is if you want to get in).

Regarding buying small increments, I am personally familiar with that in a very intimate kind of way, and I spent about my first year in bitcoin buying on a very frequent basis in very small amounts.. on a weekly and daily basis..  I would buy, mostly through coinbase and circle throughout 2014 in increments of anywhere between .1 and greater, and then in 2015, I had some personal cashflow issues, but I continued to want to take advantage of the low price (prices largely in the $200s through much of the year), and I had times in which I would buy amounts as low as .005 on Circle, which was between $1 and $2 at a time.

Sure there are some services that may require you to buy at least $5 worth of bitcoin at a time, but surely incremental buying can be possible through some services, once you connect a bank account.

I think it's because we still doubt that buying bitcoin can profit. When the price of the bitcoin $100, people considered expensive, but when it costs $400 they regret for why not buying when the price $100, the main the problem I think because they don't like with bitcoin, so any price of bitcoin feels expensive.

I think the reason they ask for ID / Photograph is because there's a risk that someone may chargeback.
there may be some exchanges that require verification id and so on, but there are some exchange sites that do not require it, but if you do not find it, you can buy a bitcoin in third-party individuals, without identity

There are a lot more ways to onboard and offboard BTC than there were a few years ago.  So, the means for accomplishing both continues to expand with Bitcoin ATMs becoming more and more prevalent and an increase of bitcoin exchanges from about less than 10 in 2013 to more than 100 in 2016.

These methods are continuing to expand including various kinds of in-person transactions that require less identification, usually, especially if you are doing that in cash.

I know that OP is concerned about showing identification etcetera, but if you are limiting yourself to online methods, then you are going to have some of these kinds of issues and if you are wanting to conduct bitcoin purchases with something other than cash, then that is merely a cost of doing business (providing sufficient identification in order to attempt to protect the seller from fraud or other shenanigans).

I agree with those who lament the disappearance of Circle as a means to buy and sell bitcoins, and it had seemed that they were expanding to customers all around the world (besides starting out in the USA), but then all of a sudden, without warning, discontinued their bitcoin buying and selling services.

Hopefully, at some point, another similar service will be offered, but if not, we still are in a decent place for continued onboarding and off boarding BTC, and those means and mechanisms seem to be increasing.
