The one to consider if a certain post is good enough for a merit is the one who will give awaybthe merit itself. We can say our post is good but not for others. However I agree that it's quite hard to gain merit, but that's how the new system goes and we can do nothing but just to go with it.

Fuck it, I gave you a merit, OP.  Your thread here is a duplicate of probably 2 dozen of the same bitch threads about merit, but your English is obviously good--and in my book that counts for a lot.  I have not checked your posting history, so I hope the merit I gave you isn't being wasted on a shitposter.  But eh, it's only 1 merit.

I, like probably a lot of other higher-ranked members, am running low on sMerits so it's becoming harder as time goes on to earn them--I'm not sure how many merits the official merit sources are giving out, but my opinion is that there probably need to be more merit sources.  I've tried to give merits to lower-ranked members more often than, say, legendaries, but I just tend to like what people who have been here longer have to say.  And the signal:noise ratio is extremely low on this forum, and that's mostly due to noobs and noob alt accounts.

EmbarrassedLook I have been on here long enough to know how certain things work....

I don't think that's long enough....

I've been here nearly 6 months and before the merit system started (and I saw the word merit under my name)

I had:

- never been to the META section
- never known who Hal Finney was
- not known what a signature campaign was
- not known there was a consolidated thread that newbies should read
- never realized that those stupid one liners ("the dev will post the new btc because") were because of people ranking up for money (now I turn them in, kind of fun)
- knew the origin of HODL (I always thought it was a typo)
- never tried to research something
- never know there was a thread for full members and above (Ivory Tower, its really cool, wait till you get there,  Wink)
- and a whole lot more that I can't remember

So... sit back, read more, and don't worry about merits  (at the pace that I earn merits it will be 4.9 years until I make Legendary, but who cares, I don't need the signature money)

I don't think you've been long enough here to understand the rules of the forum. I am registered here for more than four months but I still catching up with so many rules on different boards. But before I registered, I only use the forum for read-only feature offered for non-member. In my opinion, merit system was a necessary measure to end the spamming problem. I have difficulty reading the discussions when all I see is just a spam on a particular thread. The people that moderates this forum is facing a lot of challenges to keep the forum ecosystem healthy. I haven't received any merits too yet but you won't hear me complaining about it. I am here to participate discussions about blockchain and cryptocurrencies, I'm just lucky enough that some bounty campaigns allow Jr.Member to participate, a passive reward opportunity, so I could earn money and pay my electricity for this computer and my internet bill and continue my reading habit in this forum, medium, and what you call it? Steemit? it is also filled with spam and low-quality post.

Mate. You're also a good example for us newbies but still i can't stop feeling bad for you, maybe you're just not active in the last months or days because it only took me 2 months to reach this rank and still I'm working on my feet to get to the higher ranks just to earn and to contribute more here in the forum.
I wish you luck and hope you'll stay active as long as you can for you to be able to get payed off for what you really deserve.

I think it is necessary to make updates of this system with the aim that no good post does not get merit
so that no more complaints anywhere and also so that no party losers

My question is why is it so hard to earn merits on bitcointalk.org. Sounds pretty counter-intuitive to me... Please help someone!!    Huh

If you think it's counterintuitive you haven't been on this forum long enough.

It's hard to earn merit because:
  • It's hard to provide detailed, knowledgeable, appropriate, and interesting content (if it were easier this forum wouldn't have needed the merit system to combat the shit posting)
  • It's hard because people who are Merit Sources don't read every corner of this forum

If you have good content in your posts, and I mean really good (not just a correct answer to some easy question), you need to go to where the Merit Sources are so your good content posts can be read, considered, and merited.

Think. Think. No, seriously...think...and you will find a way.

do not worry
Share useful topics and do not forget to mention their source

EmbarrassedLook I have been on here long enough to know how certain things work. I may not be the best writer, but after looking around, the members with the most merits aren't that great either, I mean not in the least, neither do they provide great content or insight. So how did they get all those merits with sub-par content? The senior members say post good content and you will get merits. Hog wash!! It is almost impossible to earn merits on here... Why??? Hope this not a good ole boy's system.... (That's why I love Steemit)!!

Another question??? Who the heck determines what good content is. I provide a lot of insight and I have written some good post here but I never get a merit.

I have seen your profile and the date when you registered, its almost same as mine, the fact that I was only ahead of you with 13 days gap and currently active. How come that you didn't receive enough but I did? The answer lies on yourself buddy. It's not that hard to earn Merit if you can just understand how to earn it in a positive way. Try observing your posts and compare it to the others, observe and know what you are lacking. If you have some time to make a useless posts then why don't you give a try on giving some time to read and understand some threads here.
As you can see all about you need to know here in the community has been given an answer. So you don't have to waste your time on making a thread that has been created already like this.

I hate it to see some of my fellow newbies keeps on spamming and even don't give a piece of shit on reading the informative threads and also the RULES. PLEASE LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES.  Angry Angry Angry

Whining wont get you some bro, don't you feel good on that 1 merit? look at other people they cant get even 1 merit, stop wasting your time on whining about the system you are not the only one affected instead try to do some great effort's for your work's and never to expect good things in return.
I dont really get the reason why still people are greedy about merit, merit is just there it will never be gone so dont rush yourself, all of us has the same problem but I think complaining about the system is enough maybe its better to share an idea to improve the system.

Just becausr you post a quality one it doesn’t mean you should receive merits because it will always depend on the standard of every person. Just wait for your moment, merit will stay here for good he will not leave us so better not to focus on it.

I have looked in to your post, and it is only 2 pages, and some of them are just copy paste posts. You even copy paste this OP into another board in the forum and @leonair already mentioned because you always expect merits from your posts.

If there is a new system applied, whether it is on forum, game, or real-life, the best thing to do is to make yourself qualified enough if you want to get the most out of the system, not by against it. So with this merit, do yourself have enough quality to be accepted by merit system, or by people who can give merits? Ask this question first to yourself, the best answer for you is no because if you say yes, i dont know how you measure yourself upon something.
You are here only for 2 months and there are not many posts you have made and some of them only a copy paste, and you think you are qualified enough for merits?. Narcissistic?

If you love steemit just remain there. We already have a lot of people competing here for the merit points. Smiley  I am not an expert with steemit but I guess it also rewards users based on the followers and the engagement the posts get there.

It is not that hard to earn merit points especially the  10 merit points to become a member. You are still new and you have a lot to learn here. Spend more time reading the posts here and see what type of posts are getting merited frequently.

Maybe because you always expect to get it from every time you post?

You can say that I am lucky that I reached Sr. Member rank before this merit system was implemented but it will not help you to get empathy from me or other high ranking forum members. I feel your frustration but I think you look merit system as a hindrance because you are in a Signature Campaign or maybe not.

By the way you are posting the same content to different sections in this forum(I hope you'll not get ban one of this days).

Well I'm not doing too well on Steemit, but I'm fairly new to the site. So far I haven't received any rewards, and I feel this may be because I haven't paid for any of the upranking services. We don't have paid upranking bots here, so merits have to be earned on ability.

It should be hard to earn merits. If it wasn't it would defeat the purpose of it.

EmbarrassedLook I have been on here long enough to know how certain things work.

Two months?

Another question??? Who the heck determines what good content is. I provide a lot of insight and I have written some good post here but I never get a merit.

The people with merit to give. If they spot a post they like for whatever reason they may reward it. Keep posting quality content and the chances of this increase.

My question is why is it so hard to earn merits on bitcointalk.org. Sounds pretty counter-intuitive to me... Please help someone!!    Huh

How is system that is meant to reward quality content over trash counter-intuitive? Something needed to be done about people signing up here with dozens to hundreds of accounts just to spam with and this is the solution to that.

You spammed this same post in three posts. You need to learn the rules.

You will gradually get merits from merit sources. They will consider whether your posts are meritable or not. They are not marked but they are here watching most people and whom to merit to. Keep posting quality content and dont beg for merits or complain about merits.

One good suggestion for you - remove your paid signature and if needed keep a personal signature. The merit sorces being elder people here dont like newbies coming to the forum with the idea of spamming(does not apply to everyone) the forum to get paid from bounties and all. You posts will be catching their eye if you dont wear paid signatures - as per DannyHamilton.

Yes its counter productive for those who want to rank up making shitposts but productive for those who are making quality posts to this forum.
