Theymos (site admin) outlines it perfectly in a post that I can't find right now. I think it's every 1210000 seconds that activity is reset and available to be gained. This is about 1-activity/day so all you need to do is maintain 1-post per day and you'll achieve the maximum amount of activity available for your account
I have over 50 posts now, but my activity is only at 28. Any ideas?
Because next activity increase date is by October 13/14. Increase is every 2 weeks with 14 points maximum
If you have enough posts you might get the maximum
So no need to posts a lot just to increase activity
You need to post at least 1 message to obtain after 1 hour another 14 activity so a total of 42 activity for you since you have 42+ posts
This thread shows some insight for the rank system.
You do have to wait, but you also must remain active in the forum every bi-weekly period. If you do not post in that period, you will not get the potential activity for that time.

that's your current limit.
you can only get 14 activity for every biweekly period that you posted in.
