The use of bitcoin is increasing because everyone wants to be financially free from the government and Central Bank, no one cares whether it is declared illegal or not, bitcoin is a free market that unites people from different countries in other to come together and carry put huge amount of transactions within seconds even without knowing each other from anywhere before. Bitcoin is great.
People are increasingly going crazy over bitcoin because it can give a chance to earn very good money. Therefore, the flow of investors only increases.

They see cryptocurrencies as a threat to their business, as bitcoin would bypass them in financial transactions. Spreading FUD would scare off investors, so the price would drop.

Actually not because of the use of Bitcoin, but the rising investors. To be honest, until now fewer people use bitcoin as a payment especially when bitcoin is not illegal ... it's sort of unrecognized ... but you can wait a year or two and let's see what happens...
