Well can't blame you for stepping back, I know I wouldn't play around with visa's.

Side note Main point, if I'm not mistaken all of your threads are back in the hardware section. I checked the S9 and a couple of others, I don't know when exactly as I never thought before now to try without there having been a response here.

See you around

Thank ye kindly. I forgot about that.

While here, if you don't mind me asking why did you stop making review/setups?

The market really, really slowed down with the decreased prices, such that the only companies that survived were absolutely huge and had outgrown their need for me. There was no chance of making a living off product guides alone (in fact I'd often lose money on the man hours), and with the consulting revenue from the larger companies gone it didn't make sense to continue. Neither did companies like Spondoolies refusing to pay any of their commissions.

+ I then moved to the US, and visa restrictions make it annoying enough to not want to be a consultant during school.

So here's a free bump and a little more info as to why I feel you should at least receive a response. The quoted post below shows that dogie has been a long time active member whose posts are really substantial and useful, so much so that this is used as a reference to one of the unofficial rules of the forum #24.

It occurred to me that I should write a little about this in case anyone's wondering about what dogie's doing, or why other people are getting banned for somewhat similar activity:

Ads are typically not allowed in posts (outside of the signature area) because they are annoying and off-topic. It is especially disallowed to put ads or signatures at the bottom of all of your posts. Except for traditional valedictions, which are tolerated but discouraged, signatures are for the signature area only.

However, if you are using the forum as a publishing platform to host something really substantial and useful, selling ads in that substantial work is allowed. To be eligible for this, your post must be in a topic that you started, and your post must be substantial and long enough to make the ad seem entirely insignificant. If in doubt, ask me.

I'm still flabbergasted that this has taken so long to get a simple response/explanation. Either move the threads back, or move all other review/setup threads to the same location. Maybe there's more to it, if so just drop an explanation.

So once again an admin appeared to delete a post but not reply:

... or OP is being intentionally ignored, lol.

Unfortunately that was painfully obvious.

With the previously deleted batches, someone likely just used your thread to boost up their reports. Sure they were against the rules, but it was clear what you were doing and it wasn't harming anyone. That however wouldn't have necessarily attracted anyone who could provide the answer you want.

I still maintain that you've been ignored because you are being reasonable. Unfortunately it's the squeaky wheel that gets the grease, or the crazy one depending on this place.

I remember theymos weighing in on multiple S9 threads being removed or locked. I think it was when the water block came out. So there is no reason you shouldn't get a simple explanation on what changes in the moderation policy. It's a fairly simple Q & A.

If you want you can start using the @insertusername to notify people if they are using the system piggy created. I'll link the thread later.

They were on topic and not spam but for some reason..............
Seems like that both "on topic and not spam" you mentioned were not true since you are posting off topic here.

1. It's a rule, afaik.
2. It keeps the thread fresh.

It also hides the absurdity of waiting two and a half months for an admin to respond. I was deleting them before, but I can clean it up later.

I don't get why no moderator is replying here with a valid reason. If there is a valid reason why no moderator is locking this thread too? It is now quite a long time this guy is bumping the thread and waiting just to have an answer.

@dogie
Mate, I think you will not mind to delete the previous bump. I mean delete all the previous bump when you are going to bump it again.

I'm a newbie to mining, and I had a couple of threads asking for advice deleted, or moved to some general board, I can't remember which.

I now have mining on ignore, and if I have a mining question then I use one of the alternative option.

- Ask the question in a different forum
- Discuss the matter privately
- Post the question in beginners.

Mining is an important element in the crypto world, and we should be able to learn and discuss the various aspects involved here in Bitcoin Talk. It is obvious that this is not possible. Please can we have a review of the structure and moderation of the mining boards.

Funnily enough, a topic of mine was just straight up deleted from the same section. Now, I’m no where near as knowledgeable as you or philip, but I really don’t see how my post broke any rules. Here was the body of it:

Quote
I was wondering if anyone here has some insight into how large scale indsutrail crypto mining operations work. Do they still break even when there is high price volatility like this? What is the typical cost per kWh if you count in hosting? Do they keep running even when this cost is higher than the mining reward?

Besides my butchering of the word industrial, as well as the fact that my question was fairly basic, I don’t see what was so offensive about it to be deleted without notice. I am by no means a regular of this section, but I agree with you that someone is making questionable moderation decisions.

Sounds like a mining topic. Was it on the Hardware board? It should have been moved perhaps but I don't see it as needing to be deleted.

Nope, it was in the Mining parent board. According to #4, this seemed like the right place.
