Wikipedia is centralization of information. Information should be decentralized too.

The amount of idiots on this sub-forum is staggering.
Most days you can leave 'on this sub-forum' out of that sentence.

why they make it so hidden? they are embarrassed of receiving donations in bitcoin or what?
Hmm what you were expecting a bitcoin address in bottom of every article .? that's surely not gonna happen soon maybe one day when btc takes over every other online payment procedure.

As most of you probably know Wikipedia runs on donation. I just found Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales has bought 0.1 BTC at Coinbase. Hopefully Wikipedia may accept Bitcoin as medium of donation soon...

So it now took us basically about 5 months for this rumor to become true! This shows us how fast things are progressing in the Bitcoin world. The boss himself was somewhat skeptical of Bitcoin, yet decided to get his hands on it and gave it a try. whoops, 5 months later Wikipedia accepts Bitcoin. Incredible!

There is a fine line here that we are not discussing. That is CoinBase. They have played a crucial role for this to take place. As per detailed reports, Wikimedia wont hold any Bitcoin. They'll immediately dump the funds against CoinBase price and here CoinBase will make some profit by giving them a little lower rate than the market. Win-Win situation ... is not it ? Wink

That's a good thing! I think we owe it to the people who gave Jimmy Wales a handful BTC some time ago!

So it seems Jimmy Has forgot about Bitcoin by now... From one of his tweet it seems that he is now looking for Gay community donation.

Is this what he is great at ? Managing donations from all walks of the society ?

at least we are a little bit closer to our goal...man...  Roll Eyes

If he uses our groups to accept Bitcoin then we are nowhere close to our goal. We need Bitcoin on wikipedia page and the reason is simple. We need people to be aware of the name Bitcoin. Rest of the work is already done by Satoshi uncle Wink

Honestly, I don't think Wikipedia accepting bitcoin donations is going to make much of a difference in the grand scheme of mainstream adoption. They're the main ones who stand to benefit from adopting BTC.

we already donated over 21 BTC - wow!
That's a lot of donations.

And after getting all these donations Jimmy plans to place BTC addresses on different Bitcoin groups ... NOT on wikipedia !!! How insane ? Why should we donate if u think BTC is so bad that it cant be placed on wikipedia beside PayPal ?

It's great to see that Bitcoin is gaining more acceptance worldwide, will LTC be the same?

Yes I think so, and it just will take some more time.

By the way, Wikileaks has already been accepting LTC for donations since last year.
