This is possible if the government allowed or make a mandatory use of bitcoin then all people will used it as a daily currency or they use bitcoin purchasing foods and goods.

Bitcoin is pretty much settled as a commodity now. I think a paradigm shift is going to be needed for it to become a daily currency. You have to also keep in mind that the current infrastructure behind bitcoin does not allow it to become a daily currency, due to scalability issues.
Yes, scalability of bitcoin is quite a problem and this shall prevent it far from becoming a currency. Bitcoin currently can only process 5-6 transactions per second that is very less to even do regular transactions and trading as asset. Other crypto soon other hand such as XRP can be suited as a currency as it can process nearly 2000 transactions per second and has high liquididty. Though bitcoin was made to be a decentralized currency, the tech underneath it must be developed from time to time if it is to be used as a currency in near future.

I don't think bitcoin is a daily currency. First of all, bitcoin transactions are slow, and daily money needs to be instantaneous. Secondly, the transaction cost of bitcoin is very high, and the transaction cost is higher than the price you need to buy.

Bitcoin's transaction speed is still more or less instant, so it's basically the confirmation times that form an obstacle that I can agree with. Currently, the fees have gone down to such extent, that you can't consider it to be high anymore -- if you actually used your coins, you would see how low the fees right now are. But let's even say the fees are still as high as they were, and they are an actual obstacle as well. What's left for Bitcoin then....? Simple, off-chain layers on top of Bitcoin, where the most important ongoing development by far is Lightning Network. With enough nodes and open channels, Bitcoin will become an absolute beast and nightmare for MasterCard and whatnot. With ultra low fees merchants could easily ditch the MasterCard and Visa fees that range between 2-3% on each and every transaction.

it is impossible if bitcoin is used as a daily currency, bitcoin is not suitable for that.
bitcoin is more suitable for use as an investment tool to make money.

I think this can happen. Information technology is increasingly developed, many machines are used in the life. At present, there are many people used bitcoin and many companies used bitcoin to trade. So, I think in the future bitcoin will be used as a daily currency.

I have recently written an article about the possibility of Bitcoin becoming currency we will use on daily basis.  so now I want to ask the question do you think we will see if it can be used as a daily currency???  or do you think it will be more like gold a good store of value???
My own personal hope is that we will see cryptocurrencies develop into currencies we will use on a daily basis.  in my opinion, bitcoin will be a good place to start due to the mainstream knowledge about Bitcoin,  but I do not think it's the best-suited kind for daily use and I believe we have a long way to go before it is a viable alternative to Fiat currencies for the majority of people.

There is a possibility that soon, bitcoin can become a daily currency. Like money, we can already use bitcoin to buy anything we need. Hoping and looking forward on this.

I believe one day it will go back to being a currency as it first was. From currency>store of value>currency is the progression that I think Bitcoin deserves, although I don't know if it will happen or not. The only reason it become store of value is because of all the people who were looking to make a good buck. Once they either get shaken out, or learn about the tech it should get adopted in its proper form, again although I don't know if that will ever happen or not. One can hope though, and I will be hoping the rest of my life it becomes currency. Smiley
As far as I know, bitcoin was never a currency, it was a store of value from the start. Though bitcoin was created with the sole purpose of being used as a currencies that is on decentralized platform and to remove need of third party, but in whole of its span it has never been given a legal tender by most of the governments of the world and has been said as crypto assets rather than crypto currencies.

As long as there is no legal statement from the government, it can never be termed as currency. Though in some countries government have termed them as legal and hence declared as currency such as in japan.

The question is futuristic, but here are the several factors to consider. 1) What is the reason or purpose why Bitcoin is created? 2) Is the person behind it willing to be under the control of the government if ever Bitcoin have potential to be a daily currency? I'm not a psychic so as of now I cannot answer the question.  Smiley

Yes!  maybe it will happen soon when the legality of bitcoin implemented and all countries accept bitcoin as a crypto. As of now it is used by some countries but not all people know it. Bitcoin is the crypto that is popular nowadays many industries,  factories and company accept it as a medium of payment.

Well my take on this is, I love Bitcoin but I don't think it is suitable for a daily use currency. For me it is a store for value and not for daily usage due to, not all people are aware how it works, not all people will use the internet to purchase something in the market or a small newspaper stand. Fiat money will be the best for that still.

Countries now a days cannot push the cryptocurrency to become the next fiat to be used by their own people because there are a lot of consumers in the community who is not in favor of it but they prefer to use it as a digital currency.

I don't know about bitcoin, but there will be some crypto currency that will become used on daily basis. Only problem is volatility which doesn't allow for that atm. But once that currency is more widespread, that won't be that much of the problem anymore.
Yes, I can agree on your statement that some cryptos other than bitcoin may be used as currencies in the future. As long as the prices of crypto remains volatile, it can be used as a currency. Government might launch their own crypto based on blockchain technology which wont be volatile and might remain stable, at that time crypto will be used as a currency. Though I see some crypto such as XRP working with the banks and financial institutions and making their way into the main stream with support of government as well as people.

BitcoIn is gettIng famous to all over the world now. A lot of people are using, trading and investing it. I thInk, there's really a possibility that it will happen but I'm not really sure when.
Bitcoin was originally developed with the hope of eventually eliminating the need for conventional currency and traditional banks. cryptocurrencies, and in particular Bitcoin, have grown significantly in popularity. One day maybe.

Same here as it's essense of being a currency becomes uncommon due to people making it as an investment opportunity and not for buying and payment purposes. Yes Bitcoin is the best investment but the idea it is intended it to be is different. For me Bitcoin is perfect for both investment and as payment method  but I think it is to hard to make it back to what really it's purpose of existence because it is a community driven asset.

I believe that if it's value will not become a little more stable it will be quite complicated to turn into a day to day currency. This is simply because it will be quite complicated to readjust constantly the price of goods based on the fluctuation. The coin changes so fast that even with price updating every second you might still ending up getting a bad deal if the price is not updated fast enough.

It's too complicated to replace fiat at this moment. But what the future holds, it's impossible to predict. Don't forget that 5 times as many people had started using bitcoin in the past 1 year.

I think, each country has its own policy on bitcoin, if the government supports and can accept bitcoin as payment it may be possible bitcoin to be the daily currency but for countries that have not been able to accept bitcoin it will become impossible

I don’t think we will see bitcoin or any other crypto being used as a currency in the near future. The reason behind this is, they are highly volatile in the market, the price of a crypto never remains constant. The price is always unsteady and unstable. One can never say if it will rise or fall for sure cause anything can happen. Also the cryptos are still on the verge of developing.

There is a long way to go yet and most of the currencies take quite long to confirm transaction and the fees is also problems sometimes. I see bitcoin and other crypto as assets ( store of value). Trade , invest and earn. They are subject to market risks.

As what I always believe for bitcoin, this crypto is the best thing that happened in the history of humanity, the big help from it to all who believes is undeniable. But this is not enough for us to drive into conclusion that bitcoin will be our everyday currency, the hope for this assumption is hardly vague if we think that it is possible globally. But it can be only for a country who made a decree for it. If we want to see bitcoin as an everyday use it requires a one world government which is not possible for now.
