It's a shame that we went past 1k and then dropped back down to 600 I think by the end of this year we'll be back up to 1k+

Yes with the adoption increasing and good news popping every month I think we are not so far from the $1000 psicological barrier.
The road to $10000 is more difficult, but not impossible at all.

if we ever hit 700 or 800$ then we can say possibly say that i could reach 1k again in the near future bitcoin is now nearly mainstream as i can see here in my country 2 of the largest group buying site is now accepting bitcoin via coins.ph and its a very convenient for me specially when i want to treat my family in some eat all you can resto then i can buy some voucher using btc

Even if some altcoin takes over its not gonna sink to that level you mentioned , although of chances of that happening is there but a lot has to be done.

It would never go anywhere near 0. No matter what happens which makes speculators leave, even if it gets illegal, it will always fill a niche. Libertarians will still use it, and most people who want to buy things anonymously in the darknet.

And it's also working well at the current price of 600$. I think it's false to say that it's a binary system.

Its all about adoption - that seems may need a quantum leap - catalyzed by external events probably = another financial crisis.

Otherwise it will shoot up anyway - way past $1000 = or it goes to $0 - its a binary system

The real question is when will it sustain a price of 1000$ and more?

Bubbles happen, but a scenario where Bitcoin is relatively stable at such a high value would be quite nice

Block reward halving has a huge impact on price but sometimes the impact is before or a bit after the halve

Less coins coming to exchanges with more buyers push up prices

It's hard to say when it gets "baked into" the price. I would think that the effect would be mitigated by the fact that the market knows it's coming. But at some point, supply dynamics really start to change, and less coins make their way to exchanges.
