How can you think about survival of bitcoin when you are not sure of even your survival!!!
As far as smugglers are concerned if they are smart enough then they will use bitcoins and enjoy the benefits of its anonymity.

Well, BTC will be easy to use in WWIII actually, because when world war begins a lot of money is needed. Apart from this in any world war the only death occurs of living organism and their assets. I do not think it will effect much to BTC at all.

I dont think so. It is a World War my friend. So nobody will care about money. Necessity is what you will be after when that shit happens. Safety, canned goods, drinks and clothing, I dont think you will care to be online on that day. You will just watch the news or save your battery for listening in the radio waiting for that war to be over.

Well that's true, during a war, we should be hiding and conserve everything that we have...But if internet is still up and could still transmit from one country to another, bitcoin would still be up...don't forget that we could now use solar as source of power...Probably government would  be forced to use bitcoin to transfer funds from one country to other country and most probably after the war if the government benefits a lot from bitcoin during the war maybe it will be the dawn of bitcoin...

the important thing is that you can easily store value in bitcoin and secure it even in times of distress and war. and millions of dollar can fit in a small piece of paper or a secure trezor wallet. but any other form like fiat, gold,... is not that easy to store.

That's true.. gold and fiat could be a threat when you have them during a war when every personnel is  seizing every house...They are eye catching and everyone knows about gold and fiat, for sure they will have interest in it unlike bitcoin...

Who is to say that we would even survive world war three.  If humanity survives and we still have power and the internet then bitcoin will probably be the beat currency to be trading with as I would imagine the world would be in bad shape without much infastructure remaining.

I do very much believe that if we do find ourselves in another world war it could wipe out the vast majority of us due to the devestating levels of technology out there.

If world war III happened, it would be a war of nuclear. And i don't think people will care about bitcoin on that days. People only want to find save place to hide when world war III happened. And i think bitcoin will survive, but the price can decrease.

World War III broke out 6 years, huge disruption to everybody, there was limited nuclear bomb detonation in two smaller nations. Internet is in a state useable but not reliable.
Will Bitcoin survive? Will smuggler use Bitcoin to buy weapon, or gold to buy weapon?

Depends on how big war will be. In II WW many places was safe and war didn't touch them so if something similar happen bitcoin will continue to exist. Problem will be for people and countries that will bi directly under the fire, they will have no access to internet.

I felt 2 wars in my life, food and weapons is what everyone needs in times of war. You can pay things with cigars, and gasoline, ammunition..

But if III WW spread on all world nobody will think about btc.

I think in any war currency do not die but the supporters and technology for it,
In any war if the technology for internet destroyed then everyone with bitcoin will lose their money and they will remain with nothing, because it will be very hard for recovering the lost and destroyed data, so stay in peace try to tolerate each other's faults and mistakes, to stay healthy, wealthy and successful.

That's a thing, if countries did become isolated and theres big pools in there, would they suddenly begin mining on their own 'fork' of the chain because theres nothing else to contradict it? After 100 confirmations the coins are spendable? This is a problem, if china shut off outside access say those pools may end up on their own fork. This situation isn't limited to outright war but the most damage to those fibre cables would or could occur during wartime. Disconnect a country from the outside world and then blocks begin propagating only within that country, and all the nodes in that country have is the nodes within the country, nothing to contradict the blocks. Then access is restored X time later, then you end up with two or more different forks???

This is great point, Internet can be purposely broken into two or three disconnected areas. I did not realize this before. However, I think it is everybody Chain, US, Russian and many Europe Countries best interest to maintain a connection to the whole world.
Even some companies in USA has two set of computers network, one set can link t o internet, surfing internet, the other set will strictly internal only.

War or not there is one thing many people do not realize, is the internet is very vulnerable. A few fibre cables between countries is ALL that links them. So much that parts of the world were disconnected from the outside web by a boat anchor.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2108868/Ships-anchor-accidentally-slices-internet-cable-cutting-access-African-countries.html

That's a reference to the event. The map of these fibre cables is here

https://personalpages.manchester.ac.uk/staff/m.dodge/cybergeography/atlas/teleglobe_large.gif

This is the weak link in the chain, if countries got disconnected in such a way, I could imagine many blockchain forks happening, and in war? barter. I wouldn't care about the internet but would be trying my best to get across the globe to get to my partner if I hadn't moved there by then. Bitcoin would be the last thing on my mind, or any money for that matter. Maybe the couple of silver bars ive been saving would be useful XD

If internet still exist after WW3, than Bitcoin will still survive. But the dev's team.... I dunno.

Bitcoin still be alive, but no one is developing it again. (except some of the devs survives)

There won't be a world war 3 to survive.
New world war happen around spy networks and cyber attacks. Noone really want to fight.
World war III not just happen on syber war,its also happen on real war,big and great countries will use nuclear or biligic weapon, this is can destroy anything include internet connection, and of course bitcoin will not survive without internet.

We can make calculations of future, which may get turned in a days time. So lets hope no war takes place in future which will give peace among entire nations.

No bitcoin wont survive neither all of us nuclear war will wipe us all destroying the world.

if you're telling about nuclear's affect, every government who create nucler has a rule to not destroying earth so much with its weapon and keep earth's shape
only dumb countries who make a weapon which can destroy themselves

yeah, there are some rules for nuclear power countries to follow and with that there will be no any big destruction, I think world war III will not happen, everything will be good by negotiation.
bitcoin will not survive in world war III.
why you so sure that worl War III will not happen?every negotiation maybe good, but i'm sure someday world war III would happen, its why some countries prepared for big weapon to protect their nation and citizen.

Right, world war 3 will definitely destroy a few smaller nations/regions. But big ones will not nuke each other. Put it this way, we assume full scale war will not happen, if it happens, then we don't need to worry about Bitcoin, 80 percent population will be gone, I don't think I am one of lucky 20.

If assume big countries will survive, then Bitcoin will survive.
if war happens we should worry about is the lives of our own, bitcoin will not be dead because of the war
so worry about yourself mate, if you're not lucky you may account for over 80% of people who die because of war
I did not expect it to happen,,
