I think the main reason why they banned it - they cannot actually control it or make actual profit from it. But after they figure out how - china will probably legally enter the market.
I think you are right, China is banning crypto because it is very hard to control as this digital currency is decentralized. As i know China, they would not give freedom to it's citizen to enter the crypto as they are protecting them also to be victims of scams and frauds. If they will lift the ban this would give a boost to the crypto world as they are a major player once in this business.

I don't think that's gonna happen.. These are just rumors, of which there are a lot of crypto-currencies in the world. All this is done to manipulate the market.
I think the ban is only related to cryptos actives, like marketing and so on, i don't think they will ban crypto trading, if they ban crypto related act ivies then it could force a lo of them to join the trading, which could make the market to go high

china is putting lot of restrictions in blockchain events as well China is taking strong step to regulate bitcoin and cryptocurrencies and even icos and blockchain smart contracts

There were news that unequivocally forbade many relations with crypto-currencies, but I can not exactly say how much I know this is due only to legal entities, so the situation here is not clear.

I don't think they will move to deep against ICO. Maybe they will just ban it and wait for the market to become clearer and then they could have atleast a good move that will prohibit cryptocurrency trading.
China is very strict about cryptocurrencies. Chinese residents are forbidden to participate in ICO and use cryptoexchange exchanges. But China wants to introduce blockage and I think that sooner or later the Chinese government will be more loyal to cryptocurrencies.

China is considered one of the most influential market in cryptocurrency and this ban really affected the health of crypto. But we know chinese they want to create their own. Maybe if they figure out what will be the best solution, this ban will drop in future.
The ban is effective at the moment and they monitoring has increase in recent weeks with some account on wechat closed
I do not think that China will forbid living and working in ICO. Pure from the point of view. What will boom and boil. on the part of investors. But if of course there is an alternative. To that I have little faith. Well we'll see.
