I believe there will be a notice to forewarn holders if bitcoin will be stopped. The other base Cryptocurrency to opt for will be the ethereum which is also gradually picking up too.
In my part, I already encounter the ups and down of cryptocurrency's, but i never put in my mind to stop. Because one's you stop.. this means you are a looser. Life must go on. and i always aim on wards. being optimistic. I do believe bitcoin will address all my financial problems someday..

If I think it depends on each person. If they were just convinced and believed in Bitcoin, then surely they would not turn away with another crypto except Bitcoin. But if they believe and in all crypto, they will definitely not lose interest with another crypto. it would probably drag down the altcoins with it as well, but if you give altcoins some time until they can establish themselves, they wouldn't be harmed in my opinion. If government keep on imposing banns then people will their interest.
The truth is if Bitcoin dies other Cryptocurrency will definitely go down and people will lose interest in the Cryptocurrency as a whole this is becuase 80% of other cryptocurrency are relying on bitcoin.

Bitcoin started this trend, and a lot of altcoins are trading on the root of bitcoin, My guess is bitcoin is gonna be here as long as cryptocurrency is here,
For the other altcoin to invest in, i will say Ethereum and Litecoin, and look up for others that have potentials as well..
