Everything is on schedule for Q2, and also we are expecting an update today.

Has there been any update on the blatant fee rip-off by Cryptopia? To get my SAFEX away from there, I am left with only a handfull.....(the fee is over 90% of my bag)....

Handy to come across this thread, I moved my Safex from Bittrex into a Safex wallet when it got delisted at the end of last year. Have been keeping up to date on their social media channels, but good to find some more investors. I don't want to get involved with any of the current exchanges it is listed on, so just holding and waiting for the next development. Going to be an interesting year I think.

The current situation seems to be as follows:
Development:
Alpha development phase is complete. This means that the Safex blockchain is ready, and that SafexCash is being test-mined; Dan stated that the Safex blockchain could be released even now, but that he doesn’t want people mining SafexCash before being closer to marketplace release;
Beta development phase is in progress, which includes design of the marketplace and its implementation “on top” of the blockchain.
Institutional:
A new company called “Balkaneum” has been established (privately funded), to develop Safex - www.balkaneum.com, with Dan as its CEO;
The company is currently recruiting management staff and developers (you can see the vacancies on the website);
A new advisor/developer has also joined the team - Medhi Bechina, who is working for Lazada, one of AliBaba companies. Medhi has a lot of experience with e-commerce platforms and will be working on the wallet and marketplace development;
A new office for Balkaneum has been rented, and is being renovated.
New Blockchain - coin swap and airdrop:
Once the new blockchain is to be released, two things will happen. Existing Safex tokens (on BTC blockchain) will be swapped to a “new” Safex token on Safex blockchain, using 1:1 ratio. The new Safex token will continue to serve as “shares” of the marketplace;
A new cryptocurrency called SafexCash will be airdropped to Safex token holders during the coin swap (around 0.0023 SCash per 1 Safex token). SafexCash is to serve as the currency of the marketplace. The coin itself will be PoW, so minable.(edited)

According to Dan, he paid for one new higher-volume exchange, and Safex is being integrated. This should solve the current trade volume issues;
Safex should also launch on the Next Exchange. Some technical issues with the wallet are being resolved, so we don’t have a specific date. But it should be soon.

I still have my Safex in bittrex, are they safe there for the long term? Currently the fee for withdraw them are 100Safex while I saw a lot of people complaining for Cryptopia fees.

I recommend you to put your safex in the safex wallet, you can download on safex.io
An centralized exchange is never an safe place to hold you coins, since you don't own your private keys.
I am holding SAFEX for a longer time now and I think it will be worth it. Just buy it and relax for one or two years and you will be happy with the nice gains that this coin will make sooner or later!
SAFEX is clearly an ambitious venture which desires to deliver a solution to a real life hassle. The brilliant Jack Ma - CEO Alibaba - has already stated numerous times earlier that the world needs a decentralised and anonymous marketplace. SAFEX could be offering this solution and gets the public one step closer to freedom.
