We got the result now and Djokovic really did well on all of his match. I’m surprised with the result of women’s single and the first time title holder Simona Halep made a lot of impact on the court. This season is great, a very intense game hope to see more on the next tournament.
I'm also surprised that Halep won that much but being romanian I'm very happy for her and hope she can now continue playing at the same level and get back to world nr. 1. I also really wanted Fed to win the final but it looks like Djokovic was stronger mentally to resist the pressure and he deserved winning it.

How many of you’ll feel that there can an upset in the form of Kyrgios, can he go on to beat Nadal so early in this tournament?.

Well I think Nadal should come out of this match but so far Kyrgios is giving a very good competition.
Plus it's hilarious to watch how pissed Kyrgios has gotten inside the game. I think after the 1st set loss Kyrgios has upped his game with his aces and cheeky plays. Nadal needs to pump up his game as well now to blow the bad-boy out of the tournament.
Fortunately, there is no drama whatsoever as Nadal beat Kyrgios. Although it took him 4 sets to take the win and some under arm serve, which elicit a smile from Nadal. Well there's is rumour though that he try to intentionally hit Nadal, but that was it. So he is out and Nadal has the last laugh.

Venus Williams really does look a shadow of her former self. At 39 though, it’s not a surprise is it. Unfortunately age creeps up on all of us & we can’t do what we could do in our mid 20’s Cheesy
It was a shitty match as I never expected Venus Williams to perform like that, I was expecting her experience could be more than enough to win her match, but I have lost more bets on her in the past two years and I made a decision on not to bet on her ever again as whenever I bet her to win she lose the match 0-2. Looking forward to Kyrgios playing Nadal today, watching those two battle it out is always entertaining given their ongoing feud.

🎾 Kyrgios to win a set: Yes (1.48)

I am really looking forward for Kyrgios to atleast win a set to make my bet win. So far Nadal is going strong but Kyrgios is also capable to upset pros. And on top of that Kyrgios also had a win registered against Nadal in previous game so kinda hoping he gives him a competition afterall.

Nadal is using his experience against Kyrgios and so far he seems to be dominating the game, but suddenly Kyrgios has stunned Nadal by winning the second set, and congratulations to you for winning your bet. I feel this game has suddenly opened up, and Nadal will have to play his best game if he wishes to win this match. Looking forward to Kyrgios playing Nadal today, watching those two battle it out is always entertaining given their ongoing feud.

Here's some background to add a little bit of extra flavour to the match  Wink

Back in 2014 Kyrgios (as a wildcard) beat Nadal at Wimbledon to became the first top 100 outsider to beat a world No.1 at a tennis Grand Slam in almost 22 years!  Shocked

In terms of their head-to-head play they have faced each other a total of 6 times since then, with 3 wins each. Nadal's wins tend to come on his preferred Clay surface though.

Nadal seemed to be pretty pissed at Kyrgios after the 'disrespectful' loss in Mexico this year, where the Auzzie served underarm on a couple of occasions to rile up his opponent.

They have played around 16 sets against each other over the years, with Kyrgios winning all 5 of the ones going to tiebreaks - could it be he has the stronger mental game?

Was going to keep it simple with the bets today, but given their history I'm thinking this one could go all the way to five sets  Smiley

🎾 Kyrgios to win a set: Yes (1.48)
🎾 Total Number of Sets: 5 (3.61)
🎾 Correct set score: Kyrgios 2:3 Nadal (5.31)

The girl she lost to is 15, that is pretty incredible to be honest.

She was born in 2004, that's 10 at least 10 years after Venus first turned professional!  Shocked

I'm looking forward to the Tiafoe v Fognini match today, the young American has a really interesting background and reached his first Grand Slam Quaterfinal at the Auzzie Open this year (he was knocked out by Nadal).

Fognini also tends to get his big wins on clay courts too, so I'm giving Tiafoe the win today:

🎾Winner: Tiafoe (1.70)
🎾Total games: Under 40 (2.02)

What other games will people be watching?

Kyrgios is usually entertaining to see, you can take side bets on whether he'll lose his cool and storm off!  Grin

EDIT: I've just been told we are offering a 1mBTC Risk Free Bet on Wimbledon for all new Canadian customers! You can find all the details here.

Any suggestions for making the most of the free bet? Jordan Thompson could be a good shout against Kyrgios.

Fognini vs Tiafoe is a good call, it was a 5 setter match, in which Fognini came from 1 set down to win the match.

Kyrgios fought very hard as well against Thompson in another 5 setter. Kyrgios vs Nadal next so this will be good.

While Thiem was upset by Sam Querrey. Federer wins but needed an extra set against Harris.

One way or another, women very quickly fail compared to men.  Above 30 years a man in sports is already a pensioner, then with a woman this situation is aggravated even more.
You can't really compare the two divisions. There are much worst number 1 in women's side in the last 10 years or so. While men maintain their competitiveness like Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, the womens side are very erratic and unpredictable. Just last week if I'm not mistaken, we have a new number 1 on women, Ash Barty of Australia.

Women are not as robust as men, so it is obvious that they will not be as good at high endurance or high output sports, particularly when they get older.

When it comes to Tennis, the best woman would get absolutely destroyed by the best man, Serena williams has even said it herself. Men are just stronger and faster, that's how sexual dimorphism works.

We're good at hitting things hard, including eachother, and terrible at emotions and raising a family.

Venus Williams was already on the way back a long time ago, but congrats to Gauff! I hope she can show again her talent in the next round.

And assuming the Nick Kyrgios mental health is in place, lol. I think the complexion of the game has change since Federer and Nadal are in the same half. Let's hope we see them in clash one for time and Roger being the grass court specialist win to set a finals with with Djokovic for an epic match.

I can't understand such credits for Nick Kyrgios. the only thing he has is the big serve and any player with good technique will beat him.

Kyrgios has a very good technique but just doesn't have a great mind/temperament

This first round already gave some surprises! Osaka, Zverev and Tsitsipas are out!

Jesus, Federer is still going? Surely he's gotta be close to 40 now?

Looking through the top 10, seems like practically all of the top Tennis players are in their thirties now, strange compared to other sports like boxing, sprint and soccer where players peak in the late 20s.

That being said, Djokovic is a beast, my money is on him.

Federer is 37 years young to be exact.

It's because there's no young prospect to come out and test those old veterans that's why Nadal, Federer and Djoker is still in the top 10. If Murray didn't get injured last year, I'm sure he is still in the hunt for the top stop in tennis.

As far as Wimbledon, I still go with Roger here, he has the momentum going after winning the Halle Tournament last week.

Advances in health and training has allowed athletes to stay at a top level longer than ever.  Nadal, Federer, and Djokovic have been dominant for such a long time, I would like to see some more parity.  Seems like it is always those 3 winning majors.

Doubt Nadal will win, he is a master on clay but not so much on grass.
