So what would you prefer I do in the future, bradleyjay? Just ignore you? Or, should I not have sent you a message to let you know we'd no longer be dealing with you? Choose one, because those are your two options.

Nothing.  I suppose given a much much much more lucrative deal than what you would get from me and the others, I guess you did what you had to do.  Again no problem, no worries.

I think it's these initial comments of yours that miffed me a bit:
Quote
Quoting a price is just fine. Plenty of people had time to purchase it, but not a single person wanted to commit.
Quote
bitching and moaning because you missed out on the sale is in poor taste

As I said before, and I'm sure you can see the timestamps... I did express definite interest and did so immediately.  So it's not fair to make the statements above.

Anyway I don't want to crap on this thread anymore, that's not my intention.  This thing seemed interesting and I was definitely wanting to try it out.  In fact I was planning to buy a bunch of new cards to add to my rig and was just waiting for your response to my latest PM before I did so.  I'm just disappointed that I won't be able to do so anymore.

I'm glad you guys got your big exclusive deal and I wish both of you the best of luck.

I completely understand your miffed response - my apologies for being so rash!

We'll try to release something open source to help folks out in the future, once the bills are paid.

Nothing but love from my side. Was just in shock a bit after seeing the news. I cant wait till yall release something good for us flunkies. LMAO Since i cant code or build binaries or kernels i will make due with one of the awesomely available miners. Thanks for all the hard work!

Edit: Yes i knew about the price difference as well. Wolf explained it. Was just saying was much higher than 80 bucks.

Or you can flash your bios and get more out of your card.

For example: a 290x with a 390 modded bios or one of the stilt's roms will do 31-32Mh at core 1080 and memory 1125..

Proof and examples over at the ethereum forum.

I will check those out. I am willing to do anything to maximize my income and card performance and I mean anything. " whore myself out" i think i heard that somewhere. Wink Its 3am and i need sleep. These damn miners are stressing me the *FuK* out!!

Well, assuming that your exclusive deal was quite lucrative if you sold to someone with thousands of rigs... I would really hope that you do get some "Customer service", because at that price point you really should have.  And again I'm not bitching that you don't want to sell to me.  Fine no problem.  All I'm saying is that you shouldn't have offered if you weren't sure.  If you were simply gauging interest then you and wolf0's contact should have said that much.

Here's the message I received from wolf0... Doesn't exactly come across as "We're gauging interest in this and may decide to sell"... No, it pretty much says "We want to sell this to you and this is the price":
Quote
Hey! You were interested in my Ethereum miner, correct? I've decided to sell to multiple folks, since there is such a high demand.

I'm currently charging 0.0635 BTC per card - so it'd be 0.12 BTC for you.

Let me know if you're interested.

Alright, I think there is some misunderstanding.

Now, I've gone back and looked at all our messages. You and he had steady contact from June 21st to June 26th - then, I was sick (and Wolf0 busy) so I could not answer any more mails on his behalf. Then, from June 30th you contacted me, I replied, and then I was away for a few days.

Now, initially, we intended to sell to multiple parties, yes. But then, during the period of the 30th and the 4th, we were approached for an exclusive deal. Yes, we were sure we wanted to sell to multiple parties - but then shit happens. Or in this case, good things happen.

What would you prefer I do? Say, no, we won't sell it exclusively? That won't happen. My job is to ensure Wolf0 has enough funds to live happily and in comfort. An exclusive deal brings those funds. It's a no brainer.

So what would you prefer I do in the future, bradleyjay? Just ignore you? Or, should I not have sent you a message to let you know we'd no longer be dealing with you? Choose one, because those are your two options.

As I've said, I made a mistake in contacting you, and I will not do so in the future.

OK then! Just to point out that you are correct in stating no money changed hands. I was quoted much much much more than 80 dollars. I was also told that it was still being worked on. Thats why no money was sent. I do wish yall the best of luck with your new partner. Wolf0 has helped the community out a great deal from what i have read. I have just become a currency miner myself with about a 20k investment in my 9 rigs. I was hoping to make the most of the miner and get that money back asap. Im not mad just a bit disappointed is all. You are very correct saying we are all humans and we all have flaws. Wish yall the best and looking forward to future releases. Smiley Shit happens!! Time to move forward.

We decided on a per-card quote. Bradleyjay only had two cards (then three), so his price was muuuuch smaller than yours. If I recall, I think we originally quoted you for 2.66 BTC, correct? With a total of 42 cards. That's the main reason you were much more - just to clear up any confusion for future parties.

I really hope you are able to make that money back! We'll try to release some open source stuff in the future to help the community in general, but for now, money is needed - so we've got to whore ourselves out to the highest bidder.  Wink

Yeah, no sorry.  That was quite unprofessional.  Wolf0 contacted me out of the blue offering to sell his miner to me after telling me initially that it wouldn't really be worth my money.  He gave me a price quote (yes roughly $80).  There were no stipulations or other strings attached.  He asked if I still wanted to buy and gave me a price.  There was no "I'll sell to you but only if this other deal falls thru". No it's not a binding contract but if you don't understand that that's a commitment to sell something in good faith then you've got a lot to learn about business and dealing with customers.  And I did reply to wolf expressing my interest immediately upon receiving his message.  I then replied twice more because I was concerned that he wasn't getting my replies.  It was only after I complained in the forum that I received a reply from him.  And no sorry there were never any explicit instructions in the forum post or otherwise that we needed to deal directly with you rather than Wolf0.  The post said to contact either of you and since he is the developer and I initially had technical questions I addressed them to him.  I addressed my remaining questions to you after being instructed to do so.  Yes you initially responded and then went silent again.  And again there was no mention of some other deal pending.  You guys reached out to me offering to sell, and I immediately (within minutes) expressed interest.  Then you guys rescinded your offer to sell.  If you don't see how that's unprofessional then I really don't know what to tell you.

And by the way, if you're gonna balk at the $80 price, remember that's what wolf0 offered it for.  He initially told me that it wouldn't be worth it for me to buy, and I accepted that and moved on.  HE reached out to me offering to sell for that price, so if $80 isn't enough for you guys then maybe he shouldn't have offered at that price.  Again unprofessional.  And I don't really appreciate the insinuation that it's not worth it to sell to me, the little guy.  If you don't want to sell to me, fine... then don't offer.  But don't offer to sell, then complain about your own price.

Again I wish you the best of luck, and I'm sure wolf0 is a marvelous developer, but your customer service and the way this has been handled leaves a lot to be desired.

There is no 'customer service'. Again, to reiterate, we are not professionals - we are two people. As stated, we did not think it wise to spam a bunch of people with 'waiting on this other deal'. Also, any technical questions can be directed towards me - we are both developers, but I prefer to keep my name out of all of it. All the credit goes to Wolf0, as it always has been, and as it always will be.

It has nothing to do with 'the little guy'. It has to do with it not being useful to you. Understand that this is something made for people with thousands, upon thousands of rigs. A small wattage decrease, and a small performance increase, isn't terrifically useful for everyone.

I did not 'balk' at the 80 dollar price tag - do not put words into my mouth. I simply stated that, yes, when an offer comes for an exclusive deal, I am going to take that over an 80 dollar price - the moment I sell to you, I can no longer sell exclusively.

I made a mistake contacting you about selling after we had decided to sell to the general public - I will not do so again. My apologies.

And, last, but not least, you can bitch and complain all you want about 'customer service', but the fact remains that there is none. We are two people - that's it. We're not a company. We don't respond straight away. We're not running a business. We're just two humans, and humans are full of faults and issues.

Hey folks.

Wolf's Ethereum Kernel is no longer for sale to the general public, due to an exclusive purchase. We apologise for the inconvenience - thank you to everyone who was interested. I'll reply to all your inquiries individually as well as update this post. Thank you again, everyone!

Congrats! I hope the deal was large enough to justify all the hard work that has gone in.

Thats just awful. I was kind of relying on this to help my setup. I mean you shouldn't quote a price and then say its not for sale. Its a bit disappointing really. I know there maybe people here that think its a bad deal or talk bad about it and brought it to the public forum but shouldn't hurt all of us that are interested. Guess it is what it is!

Quoting a price is just fine. Plenty of people had time to purchase it, but not a single person wanted to commit.

Allow me to give you a parallel example:

If you inquire about a car, then get a price quoted - and the next day, they say they've sold it, you cannot bitch and moan at the dealer.

And for the eventual person that will state, "But they don't run out of a certain model!"

Fine. Let's change to art. If you inquire about the price of a painting, you are quoted, and the next day it has been sold - you cannot bitch and moan at the dealer. Replace art and painting with any object and hobby of your choice, and it stands.

Yeah agreed.  I inquired initially and was told that my rig was kinda too small to be worth it so I moved on.  Then they contacted me asking if I still wanted to buy it, because they've rethought their strategy and were going to sell to individuals like me and I was offered a quote which seemed reasonable.  I tried to jump on the offer but my messages went unanswered for several days.  After complaining I got another response then more multi-day silence.  Now I log in to find this message waiting for me.  So you didn't want to sell to me, then "changed your mind" and want my business, and now apparently you've changed your mind again and sold to someone else exclusively.

I honestly wish you guys the best of luck but this was a really shitty and unprofessional way to handle this whole thing.  I hope whoever you sold this to has a better experience.

Actually, you didn't contact me (personally) until quite late - and I got back to you a day after. That's not quite a multi-day silence. I'm sorry that both Wolf0 and I can't reply to every single message on the dot, but when you're getting two-hundred plus a day on just bitcointalk, it gets a bit hectic. I have to work my way backwards from the inbox, and it takes time.

We did want to sell to you, but at first Wolf0 wanted to look for bigger farms. Then, I made the decision to sell to multiple folks - until we were approached for an exclusive deal.

My decisions are made with ONE thing in mind: ensuring Wolf0 has enough funds to live comfortably and happy. So, yes, I did make a decision to sell to them over you. I'm sorry, but that's the way the world works, and considering you were going to pay a total of 80 USD, roughly... Well, that won't cover much.

We are not professionals. I will reiterate that - we are not professionals. We are not a multimillion dollar company with employees at our beckon and call. We are two people who enjoy creating stuff together, who have a life and have other projects to work on, who have jobs and other priorities.

Everything was handled perfectly fine - we approached interested parties, considered selling, and now we've been asked to sell exclusively and since no money has changed hands, we will do so. Things like this happen, and bitching and moaning because you missed out on the sale is in poor taste. Again, I point you to the previous comparison given to navydude.

We could not reply to you until we had confirmation from other companies - which, honestly, we didn't really think we needed to announce that we were waiting on to every single person, in case no deal was going to happen.

I'm sorry you had a 'terrible' experience, and I wish you the best in the future.

Chinese miners? You're a bad bargain.

Yes, I agree, I'm a terrible bargain. I come attached to a very needy and very annoying dev. You're much better off purchasing me exclusively! ^^

Please, publish source code to the modified Genoil miner.
I actually haven't sold anything yet, but give me a bit, I guess I can push to my GitHub.
EDIT: https://github.com/wolf9466/ethminer-wolf -- happy?
Don't complain it doesn't work for you, because you need to bring your own binaries.
Thank! That's what I need.
Sent request price in PM.
