Bitfury chip are projected for 5Gh/s After do first test on sample  reach max 2.5 Gh/s Somebody OC to 2.7Gh/s
For stability on his  H-board (16 chip) are downclocked to 1,7Gh/s We can try reach 3Gh/s but I don't believe in 5Gh/s.  I know Avalon overclock very good. (My work at 400 h/s under 1% HW) but Bitfury have problem inside silicon. Maybe in next gen.

If the 2Gh/s chip goes close to 2.7Gh/s, then what would the 5Gh/s chip do (if I am understanding things correctly?)
And again, how Barntech get a 2Gh/s chip to 5Gh/s is beyond me. I had one of those Celerons (200a I think) back in the day and that is the best overclocker of all time, but it did nothing near the 2 - 5 range!

There's only one chip. That chip is named the "5Ghash" chip, but that's just a name, the performance of the chip is 2.7Ghashes. The name is misleading probably because that's the performance they were expecting when designing the chips but 2.7GH is the maximum they are able to get from them IRL.

Thanks for posting that southerngentuk. Would love to hear from Burnin on the overclock ability, per my question above.

Kano, Barntech was selling chips for $25 each I believe and then said they are raising prices 270% from there, which would probably kill a GB (he said).
But, when you go to bitfurystrikesback, their chips are listed under 5Gh/s and 1BTC each (as you said). So, is this a different chip or Huh
(I see your comment on the $10 per chip now).

My $10 was referring to Bitfury to make them - but to then sell them (2.7GH/s) at 2.7BTC per chip ... ouch

and according to the thread above bitfury chip prices will be going up when sales reopen  Shocked

Up 270%!!!
That is why I asked Burnin about the overclocking to 5Ghash/s. Do the math, 2 to 5 is a 250% increase, but still less than 270%. Perhaps Bitfury are anticipating delays by some other manufacturers and hence lower difficulty rates (and higher prices)?
You got a link?
1BTC per GH/s is way over the top for a chip ...
They only cost like less than $10 per chip right?

  • BITFURY ASIC chips - $25 each

Hey yes.

Exciting that we're almost there on the chip order. Looking good for this to happen smoothly (fingers crossed). We have been considering a second chip reel, but i just found out the new prices and they have gone up dramatically, so it's not really doable. We are really lucky we got the chips for the price we did. They are around 270% the price now. We would have to put the prices up a lot for a second reel, so probably just sticking to the one. Only 800 to go!

Not sure why such a steep Increase, I guess we will need to wait for chip sales to re-open for confirmation on prices however if true Burnin should consider carefully before putting too much effort into new boards..

Meh, Asicminer has done that ridiculous price (and 5 times higher), Avalon has done that, Bitfury now also?

I just wish people wouldn't pay these exorbitant (unlikely or never to get ROI) prices.

Amazing how many people are willing to part with BTC that they should know they'll never get back.

Projects like this (Burnin) and Barntech put the chip manufacturers to shame.

Pity the chip manufacturers don't care coz they know people will pay anyway.

(If the difficulty didn't rise, which of course it will in a BIG way as it keeps doing, 1GH/s currently only makes 0.00989772 BTC a day)

My plan for the bitfury chips is to move from the group-buy model to pre-orders.
That way i would have a LOT less administrative work handling the orders.
The current prices on bitfurys site are for samples, I think.

There will be a separate thread once i have more infos on the bitfury project.

perfect, thanks!

Burnin or anyone, how can you get a 2Ghash/s Bitfury chip to 5Ghash/s?

Barntech (the guy building the Bitfury miners listed above) said he got the chips to 2.7Ghash/s and they couldn't handle it any more.
Would you be willing to share this secret?  Grin

wow! how many chips will those boards support then?

Please keep this thread on topic. burnin will do a dedicated thread when he will have the time to play with birfury's chips, but until then he is busy with other stuff so don't ask him questions yet about this.

SebastianJu, feeling lucky to do a BitFury group buy? Smiley

NO, NO, NO, NO, NO... Smiley Im not feeling like doing another preorder groupbuy. The time and stress is enormous. The next thing are the importing risks and so on. Plus i really doubt that the new chips will break even when they reached and are implemented in miners. The difficulty isnt only rising exponentially, the percentage of difficulty rise is rising exponentially too... and taking all the preorders into account im very sure a investment would yield negative returns. There are simply too much preorders going on. And the bitfury prices per GH arent so competitive that this would change i think.

The amount of rebate burnin could give would change practically zero to ROI since his work is less than half the total cost. And burnin at the end wouldnt be rewarded. Doesnt sound like a solution to me.

@Bogart... Check out this website: http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/ and keep sure you keep the starting of mining into account.

Agreed.  But what happens if the chips never arrive?  I am in Zefir's batch 5, my Bitburners should be churning out coins
as I write this, but I am not holding my breath that I will ever have a device given Avalon's random kind of business.
What happens if the chips have not arrived by October?  They are pretty much worthless by then.

Sure, but burnin cant do much to change this. And only by hurting himself. I think i made a big investment and lost. Im still better to buy burnins boards and mine most of the coins back than not putting them into miners and lose the price of the chips. Merged Mining can help a bit though.

bitfury chip looks interesting - are these things available?

available 4 preorder  Grin

Well if you go to the site right now you'd see that what is available for ordering is just sample chips, so no bulk/ goup buys viable atm.

If ur quick you can get some in the drillbit GB Thread - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/drillbit-system-miners-avalon-range-available-now-10499-266235

Running out fast... 600 left @ $25

Are you saying that Customs has not released them?  It looks like they have on the tracking page: http://i.imgur.com/sRoFrnp.png
Yes, i will pick them up tomorrow, once i verified that the chips are functional i will send out a assembled board asap.

And thanks to some friends i will be doing a board for these too:
