Not worth, its an old game and you would have to spend lots of money to get all the expansion.... Wait for newer game or look for new game now 
All the expansions except the most recent (Mists of Panderia) are included with the basic game now. No need to buy BC, WOTLK, and Cataclysm. I expect they'll roll MoP into the basic game once the next expansion comes out. It's also unnecessary to buy the expansion at the start.
Unless you play everyday, it will take months aswell.

When was the last time you leveled up a character? They've been chopping down the amount of experience needed to level. In 5.3, they cut the experience needed to get from 85 to 90 by a third.
The play style needs to change. It's all grinding.
I played it but it was not a good experience. The game is great, probably the best mmorpg but it work on frustration. Everything is made to frustrate you and spend more and more time to spend more money every month.
There is a lot of great video-games to be played that doesn't frustrate you.

Back in Vanilla, it took months to level to 60. I don't see your problem. After lvl 70, after lvl 80 and after lvl 85, the exp needed for the next lvl is colossal.
It scales too quickly, like the best itens from the previous expansions will be useless right after you get lvl 71, 81 and 86, which means that every new Expansion kills all the grindind from the previous ones.
But lvling after 70 takes a lot of time.

the grind to the level cap was always more fun to me anyways. i liked smaller 5 man groups or 10 man raids. it's amazing to me how a 10 year old game could generate $100 million per month in revenues.. the graphics are from what your average computer could run in 2004. i'm not sure about the content, but it sounds just like a rehash of the same thing over and over.

played WoW for, give or take I'd hardly ever find myself bored while playing it.......
So, what game is similar to WOW when it first started out?
I used to play a lot when it first came out, but after the first expansion pack was released I pretty much quit. In my opinion it's a waste of time.
