Yahoo was the first (?) search engine at the time when Internet started.  It was the pioneer in its field.  In the late 90's its market cap reached to a high closed to $120B.   Three and a half years after Yahoo started, Google came out and gradually took away market share from Yahoo.

After 22 years, Verizon bought it for $4.8B.  Would Bitcoin ending up like Yahoo in the future and got beat up by new competitions?

What do you think?  Please provide your reason(s) to support your view.
I think its possible to happen to bitcoin since it has only a limited resources. When the time comes that all bitcoin are mined, there will be new crypto currency that will rise and will beat what bitcoin did. There are many different things that may happen in the future. No one knows what will happen. All we have to do is to wait.

The truth is, Bitcoin is not a perfect coin. There are hundreds of good altcoin than Bitcoin like DCR. But the thing is BTC is the first altcoin known by the world. I dont think Bitcoin would end up like Yahoo. Because Bitcoin is not own by any one but rather owned by the whole world.

This is a very good question analogy and it tells us just like how yahoo fell out of the picture, same can happen to btc because there is competiton from up and coming currencies. ETH, LTC are good options but the system is still in it infancy stages where are altcoins are affected by btc pricing. Until that is no more it will be very difficult to impossible for any currency to overcome btc.

What a question. No. Bitcoin will not end up like Yahoo. We can say bitcoin will be a revolution of the world as we know it, in the same way that internet changed communication.

In my opinion, bitcoin will continue to grow and have good potential in the future because with some facts that give me confidence about bitcoin development such as adoption and bitcoin legalization statement as official currency in their country, as well as increasing bitcoin users in the World so as to support bitcoin progress in the future.

This is possible because no one knows what's going on in the future, but I do not expect that to happen because bitcoin is the first altcoin I join.

Both the fields that you are comparing are irrelevant. They both are entirely different from each other.Yahoo lost its first place because it failed to update itself as per the users requirements while google provided all the unique facilities and updated features as per the users needed.

But bitcoin has some unique features and it almost satisfies all basic requirements of people today. It helps transacting money instantly at very low fee. Also,it provides huge profits to its investors as a digital asset with its rapidly increasing price. No competitor is yet seen to compete with bitcoin. It clearly shows that bitcoin may continue as the king of crypto currencies.

I think it can happen to Bitcoin, because before Bitcoin is also the first coin that is now extinct probably because there is no wearer and not circulating, so is Bitcoin because Bitcoin also has a limit of 21 million Bitcoin will run out, but If the circulation is still running then Bitcoin will not go extinct, so it all depends on Bitcoin circulation and transactions.

It's certainly possible. The first isn't always the best. Bitcoin is far from a perfect cryptocurrency. It's not fully anonymous, fees are quite high, and confirmation times are slow. Once an altcoin ticks all these boxes, it will be ready to overtake Bitcoin. That doesn't mean Bitcoin will die though.

It is possible. And we must prepare for such a scenario, although the chances are minimal. But my guess is that in case if Bitcoin goes down and another crypto-currency replaces it, it may be one of the Bitcoin clones (such as Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin Gold) rather than one of these proper alts such as Ethereum, Ripple, Litecoin and Monero.
Well I am not agree because bitcoin is decentralize no one knows who is going to operate it who bring this idea and who make it facilitate for the world I think these all are confidential and when something is not open publicly in market so hard to fail them yahoo is a different thing and bitcoin is different I think bitcoin is fully aware from market and I think bitcoin know how to survive.

may be no one can predict the future and may it will ends up like this but i think the super power of it is its decentralization and i think no one can beat bitcoin in this field or mean. may be something like happen to yahoo and nokia happen to it but may be it gonna be end up like more successful like alibaba and other successful companies. Yahoo is forgotten and disappears. Bitcoin is like that, more and more Altcoin appear, there are many improvements, more advantages.

Bitcoin :open immutable decentralized global fair
Hahaha, Yahoo was around like 5 years and even less for all the other central-bank bubble scam companies that bubbled and crashed part of the dotcom crash of 2000/2001. Yahoo/dotcom was largely a one-country centric phenomenon in the USA. Central-bank system bubbles and regulations are also anti-competition and choice - centrally funded 'competition' of a few players. Fiat scam.

LOL Bitcoin has been around 8-years and these last four years have had hundreds of altcoins (scamcoins) of heavy competition.

Simply ask yourself as time goes, which is more useful and efficient and storing VALUE (worth more over time)? Any fiat currency? US dollar for 10years? or Indian Ruppee? Mexican Peso? Chinese Yuan? Or an Altcoin (scamcoins) that may do anyone of the following change their protocol rules, fork off, premined, sucksoff ICOs, can be changed, central points of failure or centrally controlled?
LOL. Or immutable, scarce, decentralized, globally distributed, traded and sought after in over one-hundred countries, fairly released (with the inventor who took the first million mined to death in his grave), that has been 8+yr established BITCOIN?. WORLDWIDE freedom with real savings.

Fiat currencies and even things like gold are assets that can have its value manipulated by the traditional central-bank system.

Bitcoin is for the most part free of that level of manipulation. And every 5 years, Bitcoin price is higher and will always be higher.

Though it is still very early adoption by the world population (most people everywhere don't know what it is)...
Bitcoin has freed, continuing to free, and tomorrow will still free many people globally from the centrally controlled debt-based fiat system that confiscates your wealth with inflation and tax. Bitcoin is a TRUE savings vehicle. Buying Real Estate, Hospital healthcare, Global traveling, College Education gets cheaper as you hold Bitcoin.

And it has become clear that...
Bitcoin CANNOT be controlled.

Bitcoin cannot be made legal. Governments may still attempt to do so.

Bitcoin cannot be made illegal. Governments may still attempt to do so.

Central banks already control and manipulate Stocks, Real Estate, Gold, Interest Rates.

Bitcoin reached escape velocity 4-years ago in 2013 which means it cannot be stopped - cannot make it illegal or legal - governments/banks do not matter.

On the opposite end of the spectrum the global fiat (US Dollars, Indian Rupees, Chinese Yuan, etc) bubble system broke a couple of decades ago.

Fiat around the world is forced to inflate issuance as its heavily infested, burdened and broken with:
-regulatory burden on fiat banks & system (incredibly costly)
-unemployment & other welfare costs
-inflating fiat to keep stock market rising and to keep house-prices from collapsing
-financing conflicts, bombs, and "aid"
-insurance fraud
-false claims and insurance loss-events
-stabilize regions after natural disasters
-keeping monopolies with internet access centralized and search engine crawlers centralized
-money laundering
-chargebacks
-frivolous legal costs (lawsuits bogging the system down)
-state-sponsored corruption and unofficial corruption (governments and gangs, banks and conartists)
-retirement obligations (debasement in value to keep up with payments from government or other retirement-obligations)
-fake credit (goods being transacted with credit-loss, replaced by inflation of monetary base rather than bringing perpetrators & source to justice)
-using enforcement labor to freeze accounts and assets and take away your money
-costs of auditors and budgetors and accountants to governments and businesses

Bitcoin, systemically, is free from these burdens.

Bitcoin is GLOBALLY held and sought after by people in almost every country - see global trade data by country or see this list:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/which-country-are-you-from-here-list-thirty-popular-bitcoin-countries-for-trade-1853019

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE STOP BLOWING BUBBLES OF EXTRA FIAT MONEY AROUND THE WORLD? (PLEASE NO MORE USD, EUROS, JAPANESE YENS, INDIAN RUPEES, CHINESE YUAN, MEXICAN PESOS - PLEASE STOP INFLATING AND MAKING BITCOIN SO VALUABLE)...stop this pumping

There is nothing impossible here in the world and everything ends but there are also things that are not. And that will enable you to do the actions you take today. Just like those songs it does not end even when it's gone. Bitcoins are a good thing to invent and it will not be lost because of its good doing now,

I don't think so, because bitcoin is different with Yahoo, bitcoin is a digital currency that appears as an alternative choice besides fiat money, even bitcoin has the potential to replace fiat money in the future. Yahoo was eliminated because of the emergence of Google as a rival and with innovation Google continues to grow and become search engine of the society's main choice. Today we see bitcoin also growing and bitcoin developers innovating with the first successful hardfork will even be followed by a second hardfork by the end of this month. This proves that bitcoin is capable of developing so I think it will not be the same fate with Yahoo.
