Forget about the complications and negatives of living in a moneyless world for one second, but don't you think humanity could finally advance?

ABSOLUTELY! It's called a gift society and is based in love. It will never happen.

I could see this 'not-reality' happening right now:
Quote
Dear Sony,

Please send me a playstation 4 with metal gear solid V and Destiny .. oh and street fighter Too!

Dear Safeway Grocery Stores,

Please send me one of the following each week in perpetuity:
...
.....
.......
........
∞∞∞∞∞

Dear Snoop Lion,

Please send me 1 lb of your finest, dankest, ∞∞∞
....

and so on and so on

If everything would be sustainable, then sure.

Agree to this. I want to have my own farm someday. Tongue

Hard to go back in the age where people barter or exchange goods for the goods they want. Money is preferred.  Grin

I could live in a moneyless world.

Providing everyone did their share and helped their fellow human whenever they could.

I doubt that could be achieved; there would always be someone trying to grab top spot and hoarding the pack for themselves.

Actually, we went hunting, and shared the food, land owners were eaten, until one said, I know where there is more..

If you eat the landowners then I think that's classed as poaching, not hunting Grin

On topic, I think a moneyless society can work on a small scale (think hippy communes etc.), but human nature seems to corrupt any money system if any individual group has too much power over it, which history has shown seems to happen when any money system/economy gets too big. eg Soviet "communism" which ended up as more of an unfair dictatorship, and the current crony-capitalism that we're living in now.

Currency is a brilliant idea, but human nature seems to corrupt any centrally controlled money system, hopefully Bitcoin can evolve to be a fairer system. Of course there will always be a wealth gap, but at least there won't be any authoritarian puppet masters at the top cheating the system for their own gains.

Humanity would still progress without money, in fact we would do so much more.  We're not going very far with money, greed ties us to death.

Without money, we would still have technology and we would still have will and purpose in life, it would just be our will instead of the will of the mind of greed.

People just fear change even when it's for the best.

Money is a good tool to have and is a natural evolution from the bartering process, but the problem is how the money is issued. I see bitcoin as the next evolutionary step in that. Regardless of that, there are always going to be rich and poor people and getting rid of money wouldn't change that at all unfortunately.

can you imagine people throwing diamonds at each other because of the value is that theres so many lol.

Believe it or not, but there are more than enough diamonds to go around for everybody.  DeBeers keeps the supply limited to keep prices high.

I don't think returning to a barter system would do much for advancing humanity.

Wouldn't it be boring? No working harder to get that diamond ring and why we need to goto work to earn what?

can you imagine people throwing diamonds at each other because of the value is that theres so many lol.

Or because it doesnt have any value - a plastic ring will do when you get married  Smiley

There is nothing wrong with currency by itself, its just that it has become so corrupted nobody knows anything different because of what they've lived through the past century, the only people who did know differently had died off a long time ago when the central banks took over everything. Currency was originally a very useful tool that was designed to solve the problem you have with bartering for items that people don't necessarily want very much, but instead we have hyperinflated currencies whose exchange rates are rigged worldwide by the banks and are extremely expensive to trade internationally.
