So I was just shown my piece I commissioned...and WOW...just WOW. I had started out wanting a plain old BTC with a cool looking wood, and this is way more than I would have ever thought of! I will show it off once it is all the way done, but I am really happy with how it turned out.

What kind of wood have you chosen?

I told him to just surprise me and he selected Watermelon Ivory for it. The intricate designs on it are really amazing...I can only imagine how much time it must have taken him.

87 hours of carving to be exact  Wink

I'm getting it set up in the photo booth now, then it will be on its way to your front door.

Awesome!!

Pics please!

Hi,

Have you made any work with black & white ebony that you can show?

I think I'm in love with that wood  Grin

How expensive is it?

Do you also make furniture or just smaller pieces?

I have worked with black and white ebony before, i did a few pool cue's for a clients sons birthday gift, and a dildo for a female client and her husband. I am sure i can dig up some pictures over the next few days.

Pricing varies, the wood alone depending on grade and size can get rather expensive. If you were talking you wanted a Pen or a Cigar tube for storing your cigar you would be talking $150 or so, A pool cue would run about $500-$800. A guitar body would run around $4,500, small table - about $8,000. Exotic species don't sell by the b.f. in most cases as it is harder to find larger pieces so the price of a larger single piece of the wood could fetch as much as 600% per b.f. than one half its size in some cases.

I have made functional art for clients in the past, Dining tables, Desks, end tables and coffee tables, Wine racks, etc. but again i only work in exotic wood and prices for functional art start at $5,000 for the most basic like a end table.

This must be the most unique offer I've seen.

I live in Greece, I can get you any kind of wood you can think of from here. We have some of the nicest olive trees where I live.

Can you mill 6"x6"x18" square stock? If so i would be interested in some Olive Wood,  Also some Rose Wood if you have some that grows close to you.

ATTENTION FLORIDA BITCOINERS

If you live close to, or know someone who owns an orange or mango farm i am looking for mango and osage orange wood. Mango farmers typically cut down the trees every 7-15 years and orange trees when they get over grown. Please contact me and let me know if you have access and in what quantity and we can work out pricing on it. i would be interested in anything from a few pieces to a truck load.

Thanks to all who got me wood last week, most of it has arrived already  Smiley !!!!!!!

I am back buying again and am especially interested in wood from Africa, Central or South America, or Hawaii this week as my stock levels are getting very low.

Anything from Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Burma?

What do you have access to? Its impossible to say without knowing what you can get. There is not much in the way of exotic wood in Vietnam, but Thailand, Cambodia and Burma have a ton of species of exotic trees some quite valuable if you have the permit to cut them. If you can get me a list of things you can get either yourself or through your friends shop i can tell you what i would like to buy.

I am meeting my friend for lunch this week - will see what he can get for you and let you know next week. He is collecting this wood at his workshop soon as well:

WOW!!!!! Red Indian Mahogany and the one photo has a giant burl growth in it. I would buy almost all of that. I have more Mahogany than i know what to do with but very little Red Indian. If you could have him mill out some 6"x6"x18" pieces of stock from that i would for sure buy some. Going market price on turning blanks in RIM is $36 a blank. I would pay $42 a piece and arrange shipping. If he can cut them, please ask him to spray paint both ends of the blanks with latex paint for me so they do not crack or check during shipment. Let me know how many he can cut.

Hi, he text me back and said 6"x6"x18 are fine and he can provide as many as you need, he is buying the majority of the wood being chopped down by the city - drop me a PMH with details and I will discuss further with him when I meet him for lunch Wednesday. Thanks
