BEFORE:
I think the plating on the front looks messy in many places.
AFTER:
Excellent gold plating this time.

I appreciate your feedback.  I think the coins came out better as a result.

They have arrived.  The delay from this point on is in generating the necessary sequential vanity addresses.

Thoughts on the new highlighting job?

Do you have prices and mintages for the 1oz and 5oz Gold highlights?

I decided to create the theme of having 10% of Minted Seats be highlighted with gold.  The mintages are as follows:

1oz Silver Minted Seats
500 Total
50 w/ Gold Highlighting

2oz Silver Minted Seats
250 Total
25 w/ Gold Highlighting

5oz Silver Minted Seats
100 Total
10 w/ Gold Highlighting

I have not decided on pricing yet.  They will likely carry a $15-$45 premium to their all silver counterparts.

Og are any of these still available for sale?

The only coins to sell out so far are the 2oz gold highlighted coins.  The rest are or will be made available for sale as soon as they are in my hands. Probably another week or two.

The 2oz gold highlighted coins have been re-stamped again and are on their way to a new facility in order to be gold highlighted alongside the 1oz & 5oz silver coins.

I appreciate the time and effort you've made to make these the best they can.

Yup... both bhcoins (3rd edition 2FA) and gravitate recently have had issues with gold plating.

Thanks.  I'm sure it's been a detriment to my personal reputation.  The mint has been amazing about being willing to correct any perceived mistakes and on their own dime.  They have told me that they are willing to re-stamp the coins again and send them away to be done using a different method in order to make me happy.  I think this is the ideal solution at this point and nobody seems too concerned with delays so I am going to take them up on their offer.

Gold plating is just a tricky thing to be done well.  The blame for the "sloppy" plating job does fall somewhat on me for not having these designed with gold plating in mind in the first place.  I should have educated myself a little better on the processes used and the delays from this point forward are 100% my fault.

I know gravitate / Microsoul was not too happy with his new line of 2016 coins and their gilt.
He returned the coins and is doing the plating in house....
Maybe contact him to see his level of expertise and if it would be a viable option??

Just my 2 satoshi.

Thanks Smiley

I've learned that if you don't specify the plating process, mints will basically just grab a gold pen off a Walmart shelf and give coins to a $10/hr employee to color on.

The 1oz & 5oz coins I sent in will be taped off and dipped as opposed to colored with a pen.  I'm told that this while being more costly is significantly better.  We will see.  The 1oz coins are pretty small, so I have concerns about the detail level.  I'm willing to go with what the experts say though and hopefully everyone will not be disappointed.  I'm waiting to hear back from "the boss" at the mint I'm currently using to see if having these 2oz gold select coins re-stamped and sent in to be taped and plated is an option for me.  After 3 rounds of stamping (that were all their fault) I imagine they are probably already losing money on this project so I'm unsure what their response will be.  I am a good customer and they are aware I plan to use them to mint pure gold coins in the future, so hopefully they will be accommodating.

Are you using NWT for the mint? I know they are not the best, but I have never had issues with them doing the gilt on silver coins.

I used them for the 1oz coins but was not satisfied with the options I was presented.  At the time they told me they couldn't do mirror finishes or gold select plating (this was nearly 4 years ago) and refused to let me take possession of the dies (hard to believe this is true, maybe I was dealing with a rogue customer service rep on a bad day?), so I found a mint with better options.  I believe the 5oz & 2oz coins are higher quality as far as the stamping and blanks are concerned, but the in house plating was "sloppy" to quote the above posters.  Thankfully they are willing to use an outside company for the gold plating of the other coins, but I'd ultimately like them to redo these as well.  We'll see.  In any event, I could use this delay to generate sexier vanity addresses to choose from, which is a definite silver lining.

Although I agree it isn't perfect

After reading the feedback here, I've gotten in touch with the mint to voice my concerns.  Especially considering I've sent them 1oz & 5oz coins to be 24kt gold plated as well.  I've been assured that the 1oz & 5oz coins will be sent out of house to be done by a different professional using a different method.  I'm now exploring what possibilities are available for these 2oz coins.  I've already had them re-stamped 3 times, and this might be the last time this mint will ever work with me on a project, but I'm committed to doing everything in my power to make sure that these coins come out as nice as they possibly can.  I will continue to update if there are any new developments.  I should also mention that this coin was the first one I unwrapped.  I have not even laid eyes on the other coins, so the plating could be better/worse, I am not sure.  I am going to leave them untouched until I've either worked out a new solution, or been told to go away by the mint.

Although I agree it isn't perfect and maybe "spectacular" was construed as such but I think it does match the style of the what the gold drips were going for.

How do you feel about the plating Og?

You can definitely tell it was done by hand...  The coins are pretty small, so the pictures make it look worse than in person.  They are not perfect though by any means.  I also just took pictures of the first one I saw.
