looks good , can u do in different colours?? How many coins can u keep track of and does it scroll through yr coins automatically??? definitely interested

Hi Zebedee23, thank you for your interest.

Q: can u do in different colours??
A: Soon I will have red and black available (quality is the biggest issue when dealing with different colors).

Q: How many coins can u keep track of and does it scroll through yr coins automatically???
A: I have not tested this (will report back once tested), but I would say 20+. Yes, the device scrolls the coins automatically and the scroll frequency can be adjusted in the settings tab of the web portal (defaults to 10 seconds per coin). You can also re-arrange the order of the coins in the web portal by dragging them to a new place on the list.

Regards,
PaperLedger

Pretty  nice looking ticker.  I'd probably be interested in one if you can monitor a bunch of coins.  Will wait for your test report but I'd probably be interested in one for sure if it can handle a bunch of different coins with a scrolling ticket function.  Watching, thanks.

Hi wheelz1200,

I have just run some tests and the device supports 100+ tickers, running with 105 and there is still plenty of RAM available.
The support for scrolling is already implemented and the user can customise the scrolling rate (defaults to 10 seconds per ticker).

Here are some screenshots:

Q: When you are saying that it is in your plans to add the battery, what do you mean? You will release a different model that supports a battery, or all the previous sold models, will be compatible with the battery integration?
A: All of the devices are already compatible with a battery, as the electronics already have a battery connector and a charging circuit. At the most the case will have to change in order to fit in the battery.

I am interested in getting one that works with a battery (as krogothmanhattan said, I also bought a ticker from another Aussie & have 1-2 more different tickers, but none of them works with a battery). However, since it will need a new case (to fit the battery) it would be a step to pay additional shipping fees (+ case cost),  just for the new case delivery.

Hence, whenever you are ready with the battery integrated model, just let us know

Hi tweetious, thank you for your feedback.

After a very quick assessment there are a lot of batteries that will fit without any case changes, mostly ~600mah, at around ~1200mah the case would have to grow around 3mm in thickness.

It seems that there is a general demand for portability and as such I will start working on incorporating a battery into the device and the proper software changes and report back.

The Stone the masons rejected was the cornerstone.
Very nice indeed. Will think about this as I already bought a ticker from another Aussie last year.

Cool ticker with cool features to come!  I like this case design with a epaper display.
When i turn off the device will the last image remain visible ?

Does it run on a battery ? if so how long ?

Hi klaaas, thank you for your interest.

Yes, the last image will be retained until the next boot cycle (in the photos the device is not powered on).

At the moment it only runs out of a micro usb cable, but the pcb inside already has a battery connector and charger.

It is within my plans to add the battery and make it more power efficient.

Some similar devices can run for more than 1 year on a single charge (querying data once a day) and using deep sleep.

So, in the current state, it works (i.e. takes power) only if it is connected with a micro usb cable. When you are saying that it is in your plans to add the battery, what do you mean? You will release a different model that supports a battery, or all the previous sold models, will be compatible with the battery integration?

What do you mean "Some similar devices can run for more than 1 year on a single charge". So, can we charge this device (and hence work without a constant power supply) or not?

Any other color case option, except of white?
Does the device work over Wi-Fi?

Hi klaaas,

Q: When you are saying that it is in your plans to add the battery, what do you mean? You will release a different model that supports a battery, or all the previous sold models, will be compatible with the battery integration?

Q: What do you mean "Some similar devices can run for more than 1 year on a single charge". So, can we charge this device (and hence work without a constant power supply) or not?
A: The current model does not come with a battery. Firmware adjustments will have to be made, as at the moment the goal was not to make the device power friendly.

Q: Any other color case option, except of white?
A: Soon I will have red and black available (quality is the biggest issue when dealing with different colors).

Q: Does the device work over Wi-Fi?
A: Correct, soon I will post a guide on how to perform the initial setup. Basically the device create an access point if no wifi is found named PaperLedger. The user then connects to the access point and browses the web portal at http://paperledger.local. A prompt will appear to setup the network. Once that's done the device will connect to the wifi and tickers/alarms can be added using the web portal

Hope this answers your questions.
