No code improvements for higher hashrate yet?

Sorry for the very late reply. Unfortunately, no improvements yet. Once these boards are finally on their way out to customers, we expect to be able to devote a lot more time to that work.

When updating software, can you keep in mind your first customers that have x5000?

Boards are still on track to arrive on Thursday! I'll post some detailed pictures of the boards and of the testing and packaging operations when they get here. Hopefully that hardware porn will keep everyone happy while the boards make their way through the mail. Smiley

Assembly began yesterday on the boards so we now know that the boards will be arriving here on 12/1. We'll be testing and packing boards as quickly as possible at that point, so customers can expect them to start shipping to you on the following Monday, 12/5.

Also, Cablesaurus is accepting Paypal for these boards now!

Production Update:

Things are moving along smoothly on the production of these boards. The latest news from the manufacturer is that the PCBs are finished and assembly will begin tomorrow (Monday). This puts the delivery date for the boards on the Wednesday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 30th). At that point we'll be mounting the heatsinks and testing each board. They'll then be packed up and shipped to you guys as quickly as possible.

When I get word that assembly has officially started and they can guarantee shipment by that date, Cablesaurus will be allowed to accept payment with Paypal again, because it will be within the 2 week window. Unfortunately, at that point we will probably end the $20/board early bird discount, so if you're hoping to get these at $560 you'll need to order now!

I coulda sworn that I'd already posted a screenshot of this weeks ago, but I guess not...

Here's a shot of the mining software running on Ubuntu:

Don't get too excited by that hashrate, it was just a lucky few minutes. Smiley The hashrate shown is just an estimation based on the number of shares found in the time that the program has been running, so it's bound to fluctuate a lot until you've been running it for some time. That little graph at the end of the status line shows a rough graph of hashrate over time, so you can quickly see if things have been running smoothly.

Next step, get it working on Archlinux-ARM and Mac!

Cablesaurus is now accepting new orders, so if you missed the pre-order phase, you can get in on this batch now! We'll keep the $20/board discount open for a little bit longer. Still only accepting payment with BTC or Dwolla, though. We'll also be allowed to accept payment with Paypal soon!

It's possible these orders could get shipped a little bit later than the pre-orders, but everyone should get the boards around the same time. If there are any delays, we'll be shipping in the order that customers finished payment.

Completely new orders, use this link for the $560 total: http://cablesaurus.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10&products_id=56

If you already paid the $50 deposit, use this link to pay the remaining $510: http://cablesaurus.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10&products_id=46

Thanks!

Don't really know why anybody would buy this board when BFL Labs is coming out with their unicorn-dust made PCB that does 1 GH/s at $500 and 20W LOL !
Well i guess as the one who started the development of FPGA miners at all, I'm simply interested in supporting my former codevelopers.
I also want to get a piece of hardware i may still  understand and use for testing and further development.
Afther all im doing this for Bitcoin but also to push the technical frontier.
I doubt this is possible with the BFL as it is a comercial solution wich i guess is protected.

Although i have to admit that if it turns out to be true the BFL solution has its place to be also tested by me.

Smiley Two weeks till the first boards go out Smiley

Im curious to let my cortex loose for testing the ethernet translation.

Btw is it  planned to optimise the FPGA code at some point ?
I guess the 200 mh/s(x6500)still leaves some space for improvement.

Any delivery date projections currently?
I'm interested in the answer to this question.

Yep, mini-B. The micro-B seems to be getting popular, but it just doesn't seem strong enough to me.

One reason manufacturers seem to favor micro-B is that the "teeth" are on the cable side of the connector, which is easily replaced by the user; mini-B has the teeth on the device side, so broken teeth require the manufacturer to repair/replace the device.

Probably not as important here unless users plan on plugging and unplugging their FPGA boards a lot.

That's good news!

One last check - the usb connector is "mini B", not "micro B", isn't it? Wikipedia link.

Thanks!

I updated the first post to include this info.

Alright. I got my order in. Looking forward to playing with it when it arrives!

Awesome! Thank you for that, sirky!

We submitted the PCB order yesterday! The PCB + assembly process will take about 2 weeks, so we expect to start shipping these to you guys the week after Thanksgiving, or Nov. 28. We had really hoped to get the boards shipped before that long weekend, but it just didn't happen. It's incredible how many little things slow you down when you're trying to arrange a huge order like this. Things are moving now, though!
