Peercoin implemented LevelDB but only did so partially. Ultra Prune and LevelDB was added to Bitcoin at the same time and I've not found out why those both were not applied to the Peercoin codebase. I think XBC were already working on android wallet but there were some issues with the code or something and opted for coinomi wallet.Coinomi are supposed to be working on PoS staking wallet afaik.
Using 3rd party software is not desirable imo.
I've experienced server outage on all wallet apps i've used.
I agree that depending on 3rd party services is not the best idea but coinomi seems to be pretty reliable.The private keys for this wallet do not leave the owner’s device but once we have our codebase up to latest version we should be looking at a mobile client.A mobile staking wallet would be ideal but that will depend on if our developer can apply this to our codebase.

I have been solid HODLR since .04 
but know the XBC will rise again just like like jeebus
but know the XBC will rise again just like like jeebus Progress is still being made and once segwit is finished and out of the way we will be looking at a reliable mobile version etc.Just because its quiet here doesn't mean things are moving any slower.We will post updates that are worth posting though.
