If rpietila wants to change emission curve, and we also don't want to come off as preminers, couldn't we instead do this:

Change the initial supply to 36 million over 20 years, or even 72 million over 50 years?

This way us early holders won't be called preminers, and the supply won't hit 70% in 4 years time.

I think we should also make the minimum block reward 1 monero, and not <1 monero such as it is now.

This is a good idea, changing the final block reward to keep minting 1 monero until its 36mm.

No no, the 1 xmr is forever (immortal) after the initial 18 mil is mined (or initial 36 mil, if that becomes the new initial emission rate)

Playing around with the foundation of a (already established) currency, e.g., its emission curve or so, causes uncertainty, which in turn leads to drowning prices. Well done. Again, for what reason (other than speculation) is this discussed?

So there is talk on the poloniex trollbox about changing the Monero emission rate to be slower.

Any thoughts about this? The great rpietila seems to be an advocate of emission rate change.

People can discuss, but there is no actual plan right now to do this.

EDIT: corrected typo to no actual plan

As price is already going down I see no reason to keep with the current emission as the only argument was so save some holders against possible dumps if it happened.

Its not the only argument.
Saving holders from dumps wouldn't be a persuasive argument in its own right anyway.

Facts are more efficient than fud
Monero was worth roughly $2.25 not so long ago. We are now below $1 per coin.
Worst part is it Bitcoin itself has lost a ton of value and not even in a crash; but just a steady decline.

Yes, but that was in response to multiple attacks on Monero which I would say it has weathered fairly well.

In reality it likely has more to do with a general bear market in cryptos. The attacks and threats have some effect, but I would rate them as secondary at this point.

Agreed, I think some weak hands were looking for a reason to sell out, and the Russia ban provided an impetus. It reminds me of the reaction to the incessant China bans from a few months back.

Yes, but that was in response to multiple attacks on Monero which I would say it has weathered fairly well. I haven't sold any, and bought another chunk when the price started to dip while I was on holiday a couple of weeks ago. If it is still this low tomorrow I will buy some more. It's still high enough that I'm comfortable, but it's so cheap on the fundamentals.

I also expect BTC to recover when the next global economic shockwave hits (if not before), but that's another story.

Quoting for info:

Add XMR

and also...

In the chat box, make it so that Private Mentions are in a different coloured font.

We have one project that is preventing XMR from a listing today. I like the coin and its got a strong community so have little doubt it will make it in.

We will bring more features to chat in the coming months its on our roadmap.

Could you elaborate a bit more on this?

As far as the current Project its a surprise so no but you will know more sometime during the inside Bitcoin conference. As far as new chat features Ignore, PM, Mention etc its on our list but chat is always a low priority for us.
