what is going on the market?  Sad Shocked
How do you think will Monero survive? All coins are going down to the hell. How can we stop this? Let's stop selling all together!

I see the network hashrate was somewhere around 470-480Mh/s a week ago and its over 550Mh/s now. I knew it would increase some with the recent surge in value, but increasing almost 25% in a few days seems a little suspect. Anybody know if it's just miners switching over for the profitability?

still holding some monero in an ols passphrase (one word missing )  but i am sure there comes a time that it will be worth seeking for the last word to get access to my monero wallet , i have the time
Were you already looking for it in December 2017, January 2018? But now you lost most of the motivation? (almost started looking for it these days) Smiley

than it reminds me people who forgot the password for bitcoin and could not sell for $ 20 and then remembered for 10,000$ and sold. im think this one is possible too. it is necessary to wait before the market also turned down and fell and nothing later returned to growth.

Yeeeaaaahhhh hopefully  Shocked Roll Eyes Wink

yep , you got me , in the meantime i already found some options for it but with that i also realized myself that it would cost months/years to solve this and all i said was that i believe that there will be a time that it will be worth the time
Cheesy hehe
If you know exact position of word in your passphrase and if this (https://github.com/monero-project/monero/blob/master/src/mnemonics/english.h) still applies then you "only" need about 1625 tries. Smiley You can try once every day and I believe once you will find the right one it will already be worth it. Wink

*Brute force will solve any Bitcoin problem*
I believe with Kovri that map will vanish. But again someone can correct me if I am wrong.

Most nodes will run in dual mode with both Kovri and a regular IP. People who want can go full stealth (network monitoring can only tell that you are using i2p, not that you are running Monero or anything else through it) will be able to run only Kovri, but there are tradeoffs and most people don't need that. Also, anyone wanting full stealth probably currently probably uses at least a VPN and/or Tor, etc. and won't be on that map now. So the map won't change much.

Wouldn’t this create the “optional privacy” problem that Zcash and other coins have? If you have the option to turn on full stealth it would single out those who are, right?

No, this is only a question of whether or not your ISP can tell you are running a Monero node. It doesn't affect anyone else or single out people who are hiding from their ISP. The default method will be for transaction submission to always go over I2P so that no transactions will be linkable to an IP address.

I'm not familiar with the I2P "fork" issue, so I can't comment on that. I do not believe that a Monero-only I2P network/protocol would be suitable for the purpose described above, but again I don't know the details.

i2p is no silver bullet :-D ha

Kovri is essentially i2p rewritten in C++
Are you saying I have to run Monero to run Kovri?

I don't think so. As far as I understand it, there will be a standalone Kovri client, but Monero will also have it included, so you don't have to download, run and keep updated two separate software packages.

Wouldn't constantly checking for monero updates also reveal that you're running a Monero node with the default notify only --check-updates flag, kovri or no kovri?

Yes i think so too, but if you basically use the same protocol as i2p, the network doesn't know you are using it for Monero. What's the real tradeoff?

I think he's talking about the proposed fork of the C++ Korvi I2P as opposed to the Java based I2P. They would not communicate and therefore the Korvi nodes would all be Monero nodes.

Read this.

https://github.com/monero-project/kovri/issues/1000

Yes, i know, but the protocol stays the same
