And I have to say, it is VERY GOOD sign, Fluffypony left to be the LEADER DEVELOPER of Monero. It does significantly decrease the centralization of developing process of Monero itself, meaning Monero has reached a MATURE state and can survive without Fluffypony or any other single core developer.
Apart with Tari, later this year we get 1) Bullet Proofs that compress the blockchain size growing per unit time up to 80%. 2) Kovri alpha release that allows for the first time to flow all the Monero net traffic over I2P.

I'm looking for some recommendations for a Monero mining pool, I know there is a list in the OP but I'm hoping for recommendations from those who are currently mining on a pool they would recommend. When do you think we could keep safe XMR on Ledger nano ?

I currently keep nearly all of my XMR on a wallet created from my Ledger.
-edit- Obviously this is still considered in development. But it clearly works well in my humble opinion. The only thing lacking, I think, is a tool to derive your XMR private key from the BIP39 24 word seed.
I would say that if you want complete peace of mind I would wait for that tool. But it was ready enough for me, and I am very glad to have my XMR secured this way.

If the plan for at least the short term is to fork every 6 months to change mining algorithms. Couldnt a group of colluding developers pick the new algo months in advance and create their own asics or leak the algo to bitmain in advance in exchange for money?
Then when the new algo goes live they can fire up their new pre built asics and attack the network and/or just mine away and take all the profit from new blocks?

Marketcap is easily game-able and will eventually become meaningless. Those hype coins will be forgotten in a few weeks or months. Monero, on the other hand, will stand the test of time. Building for the long term always entails short term sacrifices.
You're saying all right. Coins that now have sufficient advertising and around which a lot of positive noise will not very soon exist and die. Because some people just make money with them now. Does that mean you can be connected to a trojan (local) daemon while thinking you are connecting to a specific one or have there been cases of redirects (remote) or is this just a added layer so that this cannot happen?
