Could anyone help me with upgrading to v12 on linux mint? I have dependencies but am having trouble with this: Change to the root of the source code directory, change to the most recent release branch, and build:

  cd monero
  git checkout v0.12.2.0
  make
error: -- Configuring incomplete, errors occurred!
See also "/home/lewis/monero/build/release/CMakeFiles/CMakeOutput.log"

Which step did you run before "cd monero"?

Devs are not even working on this project any more. Even fluffy pony left.

https://github.com/monero-project/monero/graphs/contributors

Slight down trend in development since July but that's rather to be expected when times are not very exciting for any crypto currencies right now but development appears to still be within normal bounds.

If you are going to fud try to make it something that isn't easily verifiable/disprovable.
I heard some devs are leaving to work on bitcoin private? Expected to be top ten coin this year....

How the fuck did you get 6 merits? From your own sock puppets I presume. Nothing of merit coming out of your brain it seems. Probably have bought a door stop monero asic to be that salty. Going on ignore now. Dont bother engaging.

If the plan for at least the short term is to fork every 6 months to change mining algorithms. Couldnt a group of colluding developers pick the new algo months in advance and create their own asics or leak the algo to bitmain in advance in exchange for money?

Then when the new algo goes live they can fire up their new pre built asics and attack the network and/or just mine away and take all the profit from new blocks?

Marketcap is easily game-able and will eventually become meaningless. Those hype coins will be forgotten in a few weeks or months. Monero, on the other hand, will stand the test of time. Building for the long term always entails short term sacrifices.

You're saying all right. Coins that now have sufficient advertising and around which a lot of positive noise will not very soon exist and die. Because some people just make money with them now. Monero coin is a long-term investment that will pass through time and will pass all the difficulties and will live in the future.

Privacy coins look sick today

Including or not Bitcoin Private that you spammed about few days ago? Or you voted up 'Bitcoin Private' exactly because it is not private?

Lol. You are classic troll. Smiley

Seriously: no privacy - no coin at all. Cryptocurrencies become just candy wrappers without privacy. Privacy is the most fundamental property of the notion of Cryptocurrency. See my extended posts about why does privacy matter:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.39238948

Very true words. You just forgetting one thing - people are stupid. Maybe only 0,01% study the coin they use.
Most just don't care.

What I personally cannot understand how can someone send to any exchange or any other internet service that require copy of their passport, drivers license, credit card copy, home bill address, etc... This is all info you should never ever send to anyone.

I agree, the only problem with monero is that it’s the not so private privacy coin. 😂

Mooo could use some help testing some new SSL support in PR 4011: https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/4011
Next meeting July 1st, 2018

This confused me.
Quote
Access can be restricted to particular certificates using the
--{p2p,rpc}-ssl-allowed-certificates, which takes a list of
paths to PEM encoded certificates. This can allow a wallet to
connect to only the daemon they think they're connected to
,
by forcing SSL and listing the paths to the known good
certificates.

Does that mean you can be connected to a trojan (local) daemon while thinking you are connecting to a specific one or have there been cases of redirects (remote) or is this just a added layer so that this cannot happen?

Could someone elaborate about Ledger Nano S Monero support?

Will it be required an upgraded firmware? Will it be native to Ledger Nano S or interface remains Monero Wallet with hardware validation (like MEW and Stellar wallets online)?

Thanks.

You have to run the Monero app in conjunction with the Monero software (either the CLI or the GUI). Note that, in the initial version, you can only generate a Ledger Monero wallet with the CLI. However, you can subsequently use it in the GUI. In addition, see:

https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/8503/how-do-i-generate-a-ledger-monero-wallet-with-the-cli-monero-wallet-cli

Thanks, I was missing the ledger monero app, it was under that "show developer itens".

I think I'll wait for 12.2 GUI, however.

You're welcome.
